Meet the New Newcomers’ Committee

The baton of leadership has recently been passed on to the newly elected Newcomers’ Committee that was elected on 7 March 2023. The Newcomer’s Committee is an elected body of 5 newcomers who represent the interests and concerns of the newcomers. Throughout the year, they work on various projects such as social and wellness projects, but their main project is the planning and execution of the Newcomers’ Dance.
Creating a feeling of home and inclusivity for all, is her goal. She applied for Newcomers’ Committee as it reduces her shyness and allows her to feel more comfortable when speaking to people While chasing a degree in BCom Mathematical Sciences, the newly elected secretary from Durbanville, aims to execute diversity through the fulfilment of her duties.

Her name means “Bringer of Light” which closely ties to her goal. She aims to illuminate the environments she moves in, but also lighten the burden of those around her. The BCom International Business student, believes that the Newcomers’ Committee should be the glue holding the group together through means of representation and trust.

Residing in Stellenbosch, the BAccLLB student is happy to help people in any way to make their lives easier and Newcomers’ Committee fits that objective. Her goal is to turn Nerina into a joyful home for all



Her vision is to give back to the people she now calls friends and create community and sisterhood amongst them. The BCom Mathematical Sciences student from Durbanville really aims to ensure that everyone is seen and heard.
The BCom International Business student from Pretoria believes it’s important to “just be lekker and to keep it simple”. Her goal is to create opportunities for the newcomers to see each other often. When asked about her reasons for applying for Newcomer’s Committee, she spoke fondly of her vision to create a basis of support, community, and unity for the newcomers.
