At 24 years old, Neriah Taghavi is an abstract-realist painter whose journey began in Tehran, Iran, and thrives in Ankara, Turkey. A dynamic presence in the art world, she has embarked on a dedicated exploration marked by transformative growth.
Her artistic spark ignited at 18, immersing herself in six years of artistic discovery through art classes. This initial leap opened doors to a world of creativity that would shape her artist identity profoundly.
Pursuing a Bachelor's in Architecture from IAUCTB University, Tehran, she deftly navigated the interplay between architectural principles and artistic expression, amplifying her passion.
A pivotal transformation awaited as recognition from Master Mahmoud Farshchian a pioneer in Persian miniaturist painting affirmed her dedication. This acknowledgment was a testament to her mastery in the Persian miniator style, propelling her towards a distinct artistic voice.
Her journey embraced workshops and exhibitions, cementing her innate talent and aligning her with her Master's vision. With painting seamlessly woven into her life, Neriah captivates audiences through vibrant works across social media platforms. Her focus is on nurturing her artistic strengths, fostering an ever-evolving legacy.

In my contemporary art practice, I explore the convergence of visual expression and emotional resonance. My work often delves into the intricate relationship between human perception and the environment, engaging viewers in a dialogue that transcends traditional artistic boundaries. Through my paintings, I strive to evoke a sense of wonderment and curiosity by melding organic forms with abstract concepts, blurring the lines between reality and imagination. My approach involves experimenting with textures, colors, and juxtapositions to evoke emotional responses that resonate on a deep level.

For the INHABIT Artist-in-Residence Program, I envision a project that melds my artistic practice with the cutting-edge research conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from the cognitive aspects of perception and aesthetic experience, I aim to create a series of immersive artworks that challenge conventional modes of observation. By collaborating closely with individual researchers or research groups, I intend to investigate how the brain processes visual stimuli and translate these insights into captivating visual narratives.
Through a synthesis of painting and sensory exploration, my project will seek to bridge the realms of art and science, allowing viewers to engage with both disciplines simultaneously. The resulting artworks will not only serve as aesthetic encounters but also as catalysts for thought-provoking discussions on the nature of perception, emotion, and the interplay between the human mind and the external world.
I am excited by the opportunity to contribute to the institute's mission by infusing artistic thinking into scientific endeavors. By aligning my creative journey with the research interests of the institute, I am confident that our collaboration will lead to a unique and enriching exploration of the boundaries between art and empirical aesthetics.
