CAPACITY ENHANCEMENT WEBINAR SERIES

With the declaration of COVID 19 as a Pandemic, the group activities of Nepal Scouts halted for an uncertain time. In this situation, Nepal Scouts continued its activities and programs through a virtual platform. In addition, Nepal Scouts also carried on leadership development and Capacity Intensification of National and Assistant National Leader Trainers into core consideration. Capable Leader Trainers are the most valuable assets as they hold the competency to produce competent Scout Masters who work in the grass-root level and implement Youth Programme to achieve vision and mission set by the organization. To address the circumstances and need of Nepal Scouts, Capacity Enhancement Webinar Series was successfully conducted on 7th Aug 2020 to 19th Sept 2020 every Friday (3:00 PM to 5:00 PM) and Saturday (5:00 PM to 7:00 PM) for 7 weeks with a total of 14 sessions. The main objective of the webinar series was to provide sessions on updated and contextual topics related to Scouting and Leadership Development. The specific objectives of the Programme were:

To provide an opportunity for leader trainers to share scouting knowledge through a virtual platforms.

To support in capacity enhancement of leader trainers by providing updated information on the scouting topics.

To upgrade the quality of upcoming training of Nepal Scouts

In the sessions, valuable inputs were given by the resource person invited from WAGGGS, WOSM, Nepal Scouts and other related fields.

The closing session of the programme was conducted on 20th Sept. 2020 in the presence of National Coordinator, Mr. Lok Bahadur Bhandari, and eminent guests from WAGGGS and WOSM. Virtual certification of participants and resource person, sharing of programme highlights, keynote speeches from Mr. JR. C Pangilinan, Regional Director, WSB, AP support Center and Ms. Katherine Ann Charcyos Puyo, ViceChairperson, AP Regional Committee, WAGGGS were major activities of the programme. The programme was officially concluded with the closing remarks from Mr. Lok Bahadur Bhandari, National Coordinator.

Capacity Intensification Workshop 2021

Another round of two day Capacity Intensification Workshop was organized for the trainers of Nepal Scouts on 2077.12.20-21 at Smart Palace, Chhuchchepati, Kathmandu. 79 participants from 24 districts attended the workshop. This is the continuation of involving our trainers in knowledge sharing and information sharing and feedback taking in the updates made in the training documents regarding the basic unit leaders training at province level. The objectives and discussion at the workshop revolved around these areas.This was an opportunity for leader trainers to share scouting knowledge, to support in capacity enhancement, provide updated information on the scouting topics, to upgrade the quality of upcoming trainings of Nepal Scouts and to prepare Training Team Members for Provincial Trainings. Through workshop the leaders learnt about Managing Unit Leaders’ Training Course, Fundamentals of Scouting, Unit Leader’s Training Challenges and Best Practices, Policies related to Scouting, Membership Growth Status and Strategy of Nepal Scouts, Upcoming Provincial Trainings and Work Progress of Nepal Scouts along with Spiritual Awareness, Initiatives of WAGGGS and WOSM and so on. Technical Aspects and Documentation of Training Materials were also discussed to maintain uniformity during the training. The closing session was chaired by National Coordinator Mr. Lok Bahadur Bhandari in the presence of Chief Scout Hon. Dawa Lama Tamang, Minister of Youth & Sports. As a special remark of the closing session, the Hon. Chief Scout mentioned that the trainings are key part of scouting and organizing such workshops would enhance the capacity of the trainers eventually benefitting the organization in strengthening in the essential part of training. He also stated about the need of regular effort of the trainers working in the direction of reaching out to the every school and local units of the nation thus helping in the membership growth of Nepal Scouts. Trainers are the key contributors in the mindset changing of modern young citizen of the country and their development as a responsible citizen towards fulfilling the mission of the government.
