Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Nepal Police and Nepal Scouts with the objective of building an institutional partnership and implementing common objectives and programs in an integrated manner. Mr. Lok Bahadur Bhandari, the national coordinator of Nepal Scouts and Mr. Sarbendra Khanal, Inspector General of Police signed on behalf of their respective organizations.

The Guides and Scouts of Finland (GSF) and Nepal Scouts (NS) have a long partnership history starting from the 1980s. Partnerships offer GSF and NS a means to fulfil their global responsibility by supporting other associations and their members. Partnership projects also increase the impact of scouting and guiding on a global level. The scout movement’s shared values provide a productive base for the partnership between Nepal Scouts and the Guides and Scouts of Finland. Guiding and scouting gives youth opportunities and tools to develop their skills and knowledge to take an active part in their communities. Using the platform provided by guiding and scouting it is possible to make the world a better, safer and more equal place for everyone. The Project shall focus on three main topics

systematic improvement on crime prevention, raising community awareness and improving security as a whole. This partnership also aims to produce disciplined, self-reliant and engaging young people that can be mobilized in social services with alignment of World Scout principles and norms. This agreement has helped to promote partnership and cooperation between Nepal Police and Nepal Scouts from the central level to the district and municipality level. After this, Nepal Scouts will actively participate and contribute to the community and school-centered programs of ‘Community-Police Partnership’ organized by the Nepal Police, and Nepal Police will also actively participate & contribute to the programs organized by Nepal Scouts. Following the spirit of the agreement, members of the Nepal Police and Nepal Scouts will be mobilized in an integrated manner for disaster management, special campaigns to raise public awareness on different aspects like gender violence, drugs abuse control, cyber crime, road safety, disaster management and so on. Nepal Police will assist in the capacity building and leadership development of the Nepal Scouts through various trainings. With the signing of the MoU, two organizations will facilitate on exchange of information and data for research, study and planning.

The incorporated topics shall provide the youth members with skills that will support them in their daily life and shall generate a positive impact in their community as well. The three main topics discussed above are also connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), especially with goals 16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, 5. Gender Equality and 4. Quality Education.

Partnership with UNICEF

Nepal Scouts and UNICEF Nepal are regularly meeting on wider areas of partnerships in the near future. Nepal Scouts and UNICEF are major partners in implementation of big projects involving the young people and adolescents of Nepal Scouts. Nepal Scouts had collaborated with UNICEF in the past to implement few projects in the field of adolescent development, post earthquake recovery. Recent partnership deals is very much positive towards creating a broader understanding of working together in many aspects of current issues involving the younger citizen of the country.

The both parties will sit together soon for more brainstorming and incorporating the ideas generated and presented by both parties in the meeting towards materializing into action.

with the post Covid response in the country. SMS Campaign is a very successful project of Nepal Scouts with UNICEF. The project is being implemented in the major cities at different 20 clusters focusing on proper use of Mask, Social Distance and other aspects of Covid19 safety.

In recent discussion, Nepal Scouts presented on how Nepal Scouts is working in the development of young people and adolescents through it’s programs and activities. UNICEF Director of Nepal Scouts Mr. Ram Prasad Bhattarai has been leading and presenting from Nepal Scouts while UNICEF is working with the team of Ms. Sanju Bhattarai, Lila Khanal, Mariana Palavra, Ghanshyam Kandel, Shreya Singh and others.

UNICEF and Nepal Scouts is looking for longterm collaboration incorporating big issues of community engagement, environmental conservation and mental health into the programs of Nepal Scouts.

Nepal Scouts successfully organized remarkable event ‘Children with P M’ in close coordination with the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in the special presence of the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister and Patron of Nepal Scout Mr. K.P Sharma Oli. The event was accompanied by Minister of Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwakarma along with many other distinguished guests.

More than one thousand children from different schools participated in t he event, where scouts interacted with PM regarding their welfare. PM Oli inspired the young children with multifarious and judicious answers to all their queries by joining the

dots of indecision and confusion among the young generation. In the same event, Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli also inaugurated the Annual Report of Nepal Scouts of the year 2019. The event was then followed with the gesture of appreciation in which National Coordinator of Nepal Scouts Mr. Lok Bahadur Bhandari presented Prime Minster with a token of love. All the children in an event also received a distinct gift from the Prime Minister. The event concluded in a joyful tone where children valued the interaction and also acknowledged the wisdom and amusing replies from the Prime Minister.
