Brief: To design four greetings cards, a set of boxed notecards, notebook cover, gift wrap and gift bag for an occasion of your choice.

I chose this brief as I wanted to make ma a collection of Diwali cards that would appeal to adults who want contemporary designs. By making this work I wanted to challenge myself to make a cohesove set of illustrations and attempt a more retail-oriented project to get out of my comfort zone.

Roughs: I wanted to make simple cards as an alternative to the complex, crowded ones on offer. I found that by limiting the colour palette I used, I was forced to make more simple imagery which I feel was more successful as a result.

I made a number of sketches to try and simplify the symbols I used. these were then broken down into more abstract, gestural lines and then combined on Photoshop to make the final pieces.
