THE GRAND STAIRCASE

In front of the present Library is an imposing Georgian staircase constructed by renowned Scottish architect Norman Shaw in a 1900 conversion. The staircase is crowned with a glazed cupola constructed in a light-well in the Mansard roof. Interestingly, the staircase it replaced designed by Robert Mylne, was likely only accessed by servants going upstairs to their quarters.

Invite your guests to step into the exquisite ambiance of the Great Hall, the heart of the Palace, wrapped in silk wall coverings and adorned with hand-carved architrave and French chandeliers. Admire the beautiful alabaster...

“The Great Hall (or Salon) is entered under a gallery of Italian walnut. The gallery and its supporting pillars form a corridor at the south end of the Salon leading from the entrance hall to the hall staircase. This magnificent feature room designed by Norman Shaw is two stories in height and lined to the lower cornice with the same Italian walnut polished to a rich red-brown. Above the cornice Shaw used his favorite wall decoration, an old tapestry. The tapestry has since been replaced by a beautifully ornate silk wall-covering. On the east wall is another Shaw feature, a large ornate fireplace forming the focal point of the house. The chimney-piece is of polished lstrian marble and the panel over the chimney opening is of alabaster enriched with arabesques. The panels are filled with gorgeous blood-red Breccia. Hanging from the center of the ceiling is the magnificent candelabrum selected by Shaw from a French chateau and restored to its original condition.

THE GARDENS

It may seem a shame to step outside such a beautiful building, but nothing beats the great outdoors. Our gardens, set among Addington’s beautiful parklands, allow you to step back, and enjoy an outdoor drinks reception or photo opportunities with a palatial back drop.

REAL WEDDINGS

Sam & Chris

Sam’s stunning dress was a bespoke design by designer Naomi Neoh, Chloe purchased from BOA boutique in Richmond. Sam had the lace on the bodice replaced a small bolero made to match and the belt replaced with a handmade crystal belt from Ivory & Co. Her swoon worthy shimmering shoes were from Stuart Weitzman at Russell and Bromley.

Sam & Chris allowed the spectacular back drop of Addington Palace to guide them with the style of their wedding in keeping with the ornateness of the venue they wanted to create an old school decadence feel. For the table centres they hired gorgeous crystal candelabra’s from Wedding Day Hire for half of the tables Joanne Truby created flower rings to sit around the base and for the other half of the tables they used Joanne’s gold ridged vases which complimented the venue perfectly with flowers in their colour pallet of raspberry & blush pinks. Joanne Truby filled the crystal candle holders with pretty hydrangea petals which finished them off beautifully.
