The concept I designed was to expand an abandoned church located on 4th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn by transforming the rooftop into a community greenhouse and leisure area. In this space, locals can utilize the fresh produce and greenery for their own households, as well as use it as a site for closer access to nature, since the Gowanus sits halfway between Pier 5 and Prospect Park. I also made sure to expand plant life to the surrounding site, as I would want to ensure that those who may just be passing through also get a sense of its purpose.
