Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy

The STEM Academy is a grades 6 – 12 magnet program that prepares students for college and high-demand careers. It includes specialized pathways in Biomedical Science, Advanced Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Mathematics. At the high school level, the STEM Academy is part of the P-TECH network, offering students the opportunity to earn industry-based certifications, participate in internships, and graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree - all at no cost. The program is housed at Nimitz Middle School and Legacy of Educational Excellence High School.

Institute of Cybersecurity and Innovation (iCSI)

iCSI is a hands-on, interactive magnet program for high school students interested in computer programming, network security, network engineering and cybersecurity. iCSI students are prepared for college and career through advanced academics and industry certifications. Due to its innovation, it has become a model for other schools around the world. Students travel to the facility from their home campus by bus or personal vehicle for part of the school day.

Design and Technology Academy (DATA)

DATA is a grades 6–12 magnet program that emphasizes career readiness in the high-demand fields of architecture, animation, audio/video production, graphic design, commercial photography, and video game design. This year, DATA will expand to include opportunities for students to earn core college credit hours and/or an associate’s degree through partnerships with Alamo Colleges District. This new initiative is designed to empower students with advanced academic credentials and workforce-aligned skills. The program is housed at Ed White Middle School and Roosevelt High School.

Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA)

SETA, in a groundbreaking partnership with NASA, will help prepare students for engineering careers of tomorrow. With four engineering pathways, students can select aerospace, aviation technology, computer science, or manufacturing & mechanical engineering. In its inaugural year (2023-2024), it opened its doors to a sixth and ninth grade class. Each year, additional grades are added until it is a full grades 6-12 program at Krueger Middle School and Roosevelt High School.

Students in NEISD have the opportunity to earn Industry Based Certifications (IBC) in high school. Last year, they earned a total of 2,400 IBCs.

North East School of the Arts (NESA)

This competitive, Gifted and Talented (GT) program has majors for high school students in cinema, musical theater, visual arts, technical theater, creative writing, dance and instrumental music. NESA students participate in master classes and seminars, and study with professional educators who are also working artists with significant training in their disciplines. The program is housed at Legacy of Educational Excellence High School.

Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC)

High school students can build competitive career skills in one of three academies at CTEC. The Transportation Technology, Medical Professionals and Construction Technology academies allow students to learn from experts in each field. They get hands-on experience, can earn industry certifications and are connected with business partners for internships and job opportunities.

MacArthur UNITED Early College High School

MacArthur UNITED Early College High School (ECHS) offers dual credit courses at no cost to students. ECHS students attend MacArthur High School and work toward an Associate of Arts in Teaching or an Associate of Arts with a business focus. Governed by NEISD and San Antonio College, our mission is to provide an innovative educational experience, enabling students to earn up to 60 hours of college credit or an Associate of Arts degree while in high school.

Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP)

AMP is for high school students who have an interest in studying agriculture science and participating in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) youth leadership organization. Pathways include Agribusiness, Applied Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Environmental and Natural Resources, Food Science, and Plant Science. AMP’s state-of-the-art facility is located on the Madison High School campus.
