The North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) is the nonprofit partner to the North East Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. The North East Independent School District (NEISD) is the twelfth largest school district in Texas with nearly 60,000 students across 72 campuses.

In a district this large, we often turn to business partners, foundations, and other external entities to meet the educational and extracurricular needs of our students.

While our District continues to do more with less funding, our Foundation exists to bridge the gaps created by these funding shortages. Because students deserve the highest-level of enrichment in their education, it is our goal to ensure that they receive all the additional support needed.

I love what NEEF stands for…. It has really empowered the students and the staff members to take education to the next level.”

NEEF was established in 1986 to develop and expand educational opportunities for the students of NEISD. Since its inception in 1986, NEEF has funded over 544 educational grants. Every year, our Foundation receives over a million dollars in grant requests. We accept applications from NEISD District Staff, administrators, and teachers requesting funds for innovative programs and programs.

NEEF provides the resources for teachers to turn their brilliant ideas into reality. NEEF grants do not replace curriculum. Instead, they enhance learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom education. Funding is raised through events, fundraising campaigns, and external grants.

In September 2023, NEEF, in collaboration with the San Antonio Football Club, granted $10,000 to NEISD Athletics for the implementation of a disc golf course at the North East Sports Park (NESP). The NESP is open to the entire NEISD community. The introduction of a disc golf course at the North East Sports Park is designed to contribute to team-building activities, offering students and the broader community an engaging and inclusive way to enjoy the facilities. Disc golf can be played from school age to golden age - making it a lifetime activity for all NEISD students, families, and community members. Disc golf is interactive, calm, relaxing, and inclusive!

NEISD values fostering a culture of health and wellness among our students, staff, and community. Furthermore, research has shown that physical activity improves academic achievement.

This past year, The North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) had many successes worth acknowledging and celebrating. Our Board of Directors, business partners, parents, and volunteers continue to show up and support NEEF, which I am incredibly thankful for. It is an honor to begin my 6th year on the NEEF board alongside many wonderfully committed board members who share the same passion for NEISD.

During the 2022-2023 fiscal year, NEEF raised over $125,000 for Big Give. Lopez Middle School, Encino Park Elementary School, and Tejeda Middle School were our big winners, raising $33,000 between the three of them. Thank you to the parents for advocating for your school and making this a

Another massive accomplishment for NEEF was our Fund-A-Need for a 50 ft rappel tower to be constructed at Camp Henson and completed in the spring of 2024. The tower will be the first of its kind in San Antonio, which is not located on a military base. The rappel tower will not only benefit our 900 JROTC students but will open opportunities for all of our students to benefit from team building and confidence building. We want to extend a special thank you to Gordon Hartman for his support of the tower at our

Looking ahead, we are excited about the future of NEEF. We will continue to explore opportunities that best support our District and broaden the range of student educational experiences. I hope all of our donors, partners, volunteers, and parents continue to join our efforts in a time of ever-changing requirements and funding resources for public education.

The North East Educational Foundation Board of Directors is made up of diverse individuals from various industry backgrounds who share the same goal of enriching educational opportunities for NEISD students. Our Board of Directors volunteer their time and expertise to guide the organization towards achieving its goals.

Several of the Board Members have graduated from NEISD schools, have children who have graduated, and have children who are current students. NEEF Board members exhibit a passion and commitment to our mission, which has led to successful fundraisers, enhanced community engagement, and stronger partnerships.

The Board plays a crucial role in connecting District staff with business and community leaders. Partnerships provide additional resources, expertise, and funding for educational projects that improve students’ outcomes, including internships and mentorship programs.

Getting people to invest in the future is something super important to me as a Program Director and also to the District.

It’s a phenomenal thing, and I am so blessed to be a part of it.

We’re proud to share that our Pre-K Academy at West Avenue was named the top Early Childhood Center winner!

NEISD’s Pre-K Academy at West Avenue is our District’s only dedicated Pre-K campus. The Academy introduces students to social and academic skills through several teaching strategies.

The Academy currently enrolls 3- and 4-year-old students. Students get to explore science, technology, engineering, art and math in classrooms guided by teachers trained in early childhood education.

Our elementary schools weave leadership lessons throughout the year to ensure that our students develop the confidence and leadership skills necessary to succeed.

Rigorous. Challenging.

Elementary school is the most important step in a child’s educational journey. With 45 elementary schools in the District, our teachers strive to ensure our elementary students are supported and empowered to be successful.

We guide our students academically, socially, and emotionally as students learn the fundamental concepts of math, science, writing, and reading.
