LEARNING ACHIEVEMENTS STUDENT PERFORMANCE

In 2022, NEISD’s graduation rate was 94 percent. This rate is traditionally higher than the state average.

NEISD is increasing the availability of technology to students through two recently received federal Emergency Connectivity Fund grants totaling more than $9 million.

NEISD offers dual language at 16 elementary schools, five middle schools, one high school and the Pre-K Academy.

NEISD has 11 magnet programs and two magnet schools that give students choices for focused instruction in a variety of pathways.

In 2021, NEISD had 16 National Merit Semifinalists, 65 Commended Scholars, 169 Hispanic Scholars and 20 African-American Scholars.

In 2022, there were 143 students who graduated and enlisted in the military. Six received official military appointments.

NEISD’s 2022 graduates received $89 million in scholarship offers. Almost 75 percent planned to attend a two- or four-year college.

In 2022, the District graduated 1,074 Summa Cum Laude students. These students completed high school with a 100+ average.

SUPPORT SERVICES

NEISD’s School Nutrition Services served 9 million free meals to families during the 2021-2022 school year.

This year, 38 campuses qualify under a federal program to offer free lunch to all of its students. Students at the remaining NEISD campuses can apply for free and reduced lunch if they qualify.

Registered nurses (RN) are located at every campus, with an additional licensed vocational nurse (LVN) at each high school.

When fully staffed, our North East Police Department employs 70 officers, 2 detectives, 2 K-9s and a forensic investigator who work daily to ensure a safe and fear-free environment.

EMPLOYEE EXCELLENCE

On average, NEISD teachers have about 12 years of teaching experience and are among the highest paid in Texas.

Each year, NEISD teachers mentor approximately 200 student teachers working toward their degree in education.

For the third year in a row, NEISD was named one of America’s Best Employers by Forbes Magazine, ranking in the top 100.

NEISD’s administrative cost ratio consistently ranks lowest of all districts in Bexar County and is in the top three percent of all districts in the state who keep their costs low.
