Councilman Terence McSweeney and the Town of Babylon collaborated with the NHL, the New York Islanders, and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office to organize a sixweek hockey program to teach kids the sport’s fundamentals. Children from kindergarten to 5th
grade had the opportunity to participate in a noncompetitive clinical instruction league. They were visited by the Islanders mascot Sparky the Dragon, who showcased goaltending skills reminiscent of Islanders legend Billy Smith. Councilman
McSweeney and Sheriff Errol Toulon expressed pride in partnering with the program, emphasizing its role in fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and young residents through physical fitness and hockey.

West Babylon School District held its seventh annual Blue and Gold Brunch with the Superintendent on June 14. The top 25 students in the Class of 2024 were celebrated for their successes and accomplishments thus far.
Hosted by West Babylon School District’s Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly and joined by district administrators, students were invited to celebrate their achievements in the board of education room. The students were asked to choose a staff member who has greatly impacted their educational career to join them as their guest for the brunch.
Dr. Farrelly shared her pride in the many accomplishments of the Class of 2024 and the attendees, noting their achievements not just in the classroom but on the sports fields, as musicians, artists, performing community service and more. “I don’t know how to do it all,” she said. “You are truly all the
whole package. Keep that drive and continue to put in that effort as you move forward in life.”
Dr. Farrelly called each student up to be recognized individually and presented him or her with a gift. The student then invited their honored guest to be acknowledged as well. The top 25 gathered for one last
group photo together before their upcoming graduation. Congratulations to the top 25 students (in order from 1-25) Kenneth Kai Miller, Cole Bricker, Andrew Madalone, John Gorczynski, Nhu Nguyen, Rosalin Watras, Alexander Burkhardt, Lauren Kutchens, Dylan Mulieri, Justin Jastrzebski, Logan Iversen, Liam Henshaw, George Cooke, Ian Franklin, Izebelle Hillebrand, Anna Bricker, Conor Davis, Zuzanna Obrycki, Ella Simonson, Sara Blloshmi, Cenahi Smith, Matthew Cella, Vamsi Parikh, Julia Ossmann and Lauren Limongelli.
Blueberry Month What is so special about them? Well, to begin with, these berries are grown throughout a good percentage of the United States. Over 90% of all of the blueberries in the world are produced in our country, in thirtyfive states. And the nutritional value of blueberries cannot be beat by any other fruit or vegetable. Blueberries are full of antioxidants, which have been scientifically proven to help reduce the risk of certain cancers and heart disease. They are also excellent sources of vitamins A and C, as well as potassium, folic acid, and fiber. Plus, they are low in calories-one cup of berries is only about 80 calories. And were you aware that blueberries are virtually fatfree, cholesterol-free, and sodium-free?

Visual Citi recently presented two $1,000 Scholarships to two lucky graduating High School Seniors, one from Lindenhurst and one from West Babylon High School. The scholarships were given to students who are pursuing a higher education through a 2- or 4-year college program or technical school.
The happy recipients were Thiago Vasquez, a 2024 Lindenhurst High School graduate who is heading off to SUNY Binghamton in the fall and Kenneth “Kai” Miller, a 2024 graduate of West Babylon High School who will be attending Cornell University this Autumn.
Visual Citi Vice President Arif Devji, who presented the scholarship to Kai Miller and Vice President of Operations for Visual Citi Azim Bootwala, who presented Thiago Vaszquez with the scholarship and a Visual Citi baseball cap, both said that they are proud to be able to give back to the company’s home communities by recognizing these outstanding graduating students with these scholarships.
