NEET 2018 NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) is an all India level entrance examination for admission into MBBS and BDS courses after class 12th. The online form correction window has now concluded. CBSE is expected to issue NEET 2018 Admit Cardfrom the 2nd week of April 2018.

NEET replaced AIPMT as the qualifying medical entrance exam in 2016. It is a pen and paper based exam comprising 180 MCQs from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Contrary to several reports circulating in media, NEET Syllabus is to remain unchanged this year, based on the 10+2 curriculum of CBSE. The qualifying marks for General Category ranged from 131 to 697 for NEET 2017.

NEET 2018 Eligibility criteria: Are you eligible?

Before applying for the medical examination, candidates must ensure that they fulfill eligibility criteria for NEET exam, as enlisted below.

1. On the Basis of Age Minimum Age Limit- The candidate should be 17 years of age by December 31, 2018.

Maximum Age Limit- The upper age limit for NEET 2018 for general category candidates is 25 years and for reserved categories, it is 30 years.

2. On the Basis of Nationality The following persons are eligible to appear for the exam.

    

Indian Nationals Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) Foreign Nationals

3. On the Basis of Educational Qualification        

Students who have passed the class 12 qualifying exam are eligible to appear for the exam.

NIOS candidates may also apply for the exam.

Students who are appearing for the class 12 exam may also apply for the exam.

Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as their subjects in Class XII. Candidates with Biology as an additional subject can also apply for the exam.

General Category- 50% marks in qualifying exam.

OBC/SC/ST Category- 40% marks in qualifying exam.

General- Physically Handicapped Category- 45% marks in qualifying exam.

NEET 2018 Application Form The online portal to fill application form will be functional from February 08 to March 12, 2018. Candidates can access the form at www.cbseneet.nic.in. Possession of an Aadhar Card is necessary to apply for NEET 2018.

Note – According to the latest notification by CBSE, Aadhaar card is no longer a mandatory document for registration.

Steps to fill the application form are listed below:

1. Registration Register on NEET website in order to access the application form. You will receive your ID and password on the registered ID or Mobile No. for future log ins.

2. Filling the Application Form Fill in the required details – personal details, Choice of Examination Centre, Academic Details and Address and Details of Parents.

3. Uploading Documents After carefully filling the above-mentioned details, upload your passport sized Photograph, Signature, and Left Hand Thumb Impression. CheckPhoto and Signature Specifications

4. Fee Payment This is the final confirmation step, where you are required to remit the fee via:    

5. Confirmation Page   

After successful payment, a confirmation page will be generated.

Take a print out of the page and keep it safely for future use. Make note that the confirmation page is NOT to be sent to the board.

Admit Card for NEET 2018 NEET 2018 Admit card/ Hall Ticket is expected to be available from 2 nd week of April 2018. CBSE issues NEET admit card to successfully registered candidates. It is the gateway to the examination center. Along with the document, passport sized photographs will also be required at the time of invigilation. Failing to produce necessary documents, candidate might not be allowed to appear for the exam.

NEET 2018 Exam Centers      

CBSE has added 43 new exam centers for NEET 2018. Now the exam will be conducted in 150 cities as against 84 exam cities in 2016.

The decision comes in the wake of more candidates planning to appear for NEET in vernacular languages.

However, the preference for exam centers is still limited to 3 choices for all the applicants.

All the exam centers will have an option for taking NEET in English, Hindi and Urdu. Check List of NEET 2018 Exam Cities The option for vernacular languages will be limited to that particular state only. In total, 8 vernacular languages will be available apart from English, Hindi and Urdu.

Candidates in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya without Aadhaar Card need to select exam cities within their own state only. Final allocation of the center will be done by CBSE on first-cum-first-serve basis.

Official Notification for NEET Syllabus 2018

NEET Last year Paper Analysis Question Paper is based on the Physics, Chemistry and Biology syllabus of class XI & XII. There is a total of 180 questions, of 4 marks each. Read on for a briefPaper Analysis   

The 2017 exam had a lot of questions from NCERT so the paper was not very difficult to ace.

Overall, class XI and XII syllabus were given equal weightage last year.

Physics is generally the toughest section in the paper and, also, the most timeconsuming owing to lengthy and tedious calculations. Last year’s paper had more questions from the Class XI syllabus.

The Chemistry section is moderately difficult with several applications based questions.

Biology is usually a saving grace for students as it tends to be easier than the other two subjects. Last year, Botany had more questions from the XI class syllabus while Zoology had more questions from the XII class syllabus.

How to stay ahead of the game: Preparation Tips  

 

Time Management is very crucial to ace NEET Exam. Make a time table and stick to it religiously. Try out as many practice papers as possible.

While NCERT is essential, it may not always be sufficient. Refer to help books for a better understanding of the concepts and the type of questions expected in the exam.

Mock Tests go a long way in training you for the exam as you learn to manage time and effectively deal with stress. It leaves no scope for laxity.

Find your weak areas and work on them well in advance. Avoid last minute preparation.

How to challenge the Answer Key?    

Candidates need to log in to their NEET account on the official website.

Select the question you wish to challenge.

Deposit a fee of Rs. 1000 per question.

Your fee will be refunded if the challenge is accepted by CBSE.

Result Declaration The result is expected to release in the third week of June 2018. CBSE will announce the results online. Enter Roll Number/ Registration Number and Date of Birth to check it.

NEET 2018 Counselling Details NEET Counselling will be conducted for 15% All India Quota Seats and 85% for State Quota Seats. MCC under the aegis of MCI (Medical Council of India) manages the counselling for 15% AIQ seats while for remaining seats, state counselling authorities manage seat allotment and counselling. Seat Allocation will be done as per the rank and score obtained in the exam.

The counselling procedure requires qualified candidates to register online.

Once you’ve registered online, you can select the course and colleges as per your preference. Save and lock your choices once you’re done with the selection.

The process of seat allotment will be conducted in three rounds based on your rank and the choices filled during the online registration.

While most institutes follow a centralized counselling process, some may have their own counselling procedures.

Admission Process for NEET 2018

After counselling, candidates must report to their allotted colleges within the specified time period. For the admission process, candidates must take original documents for verification along with self attested photocopies.

Things to Remember       

NEET Exam Date 2018 - May 6, 2018 Take your Admit Card and Passport sized photographs to the examination center AIIMS and JIPMER conduct their own entrance exam, separately. NEET is not the qualifying exam for these institutes.

Duration of exam- 3 hours NEET Counselling will have 3 rounds of seat allotment.

Original documents will be required for admission into the college.

If you don’t join the allotted college within the stipulated time, your seat will stand cancelled and you will not be eligible for further counselling.

Approach the exam with a calm mind. Avoid studying new topics at the last minute.
