Minnedosa’s biggest pond hockey tournament was a tremendous success. The 13th annual Skate the Lake event took place Feb. 16-17. The festivities featured several hockey rinks set up on Minnedosa Lake, with a combined 43 teams participating. As well, the Rock the Lake curling event had 18 teams involved, with several more on the waiting list. In 2018, the Skate the Lake organizing committee and Minnedosa Minor Hockey were recognized by Travel Manitoba with the Partnership Award at their annual awards banquet.
