Kaitlyn Hanna is a Drive, Chip & Putt Champion who represented Nebraska in the 2016 Drive, Chip & Putt Championship at Augusta National last season. Kaitlyn works very hard on her game with some help from PGA Professional James Kinney of GolfTEC in Omaha. They work year-round on full swing and short game using GolfTEC's video system to practice her technique on our video system. Most recently they played a few holes on the course and used a lot of on course video to help her improve some technique issues. Finally, Kaitlyn takes notes during her practice sessions which she shares with me before each lesson. It helps us focus on keys areas. Behind many champions you find a PGA Professional and Always Alongside You presented by Farmers Mutual of Nebraska will highlight those champions and their PGA Instructors.

USGA Handicap System Q & A Course Handicap™ Explained Q. What does a Course Handicap represent? A. A Course Handicap represents the number of strokes needed to play to the level of a scratch golfer—or the Course Rating™ of a particular set of tees. A Course Handicap is expressed as a whole number (e.g. 12). Course Handicap is determined by using charts located at the golf course where the round is to be played. In addition, a Course Handicap can be calculated by these methods: Course Handicap Calculator: http://www.usga.org/playing/handicaps/calculator/course_handicap_calculator.asp The USGA Handicap System Reference Guide: http://www.usga.org/playing/handicaps/understanding_handicap/Handi_Ref_Manual.pdf Formula: Handicap Index® multiplied by Slope Rating® of tees played, divided by Standard Slope Rating (113) = Answer (rounded to nearest whole number, .4 rounds down and .5 rounds up) Example: 10.4 Handicap Index x 125 Slope Rating / 113 Standard Slope Rating = 11.5 = 12 Course Handicap Please visit Sections 3-3 and 10-4 of the USGA Handicap System manual for further reference.

PCI Compliance Cyber security has become headline news lately with a number of industries taking credit card information being hacked with card information being stolen. In order to ensure your credit card information is secure the PGA of America along with its’ partner organizations (NJGT) utilized Presidio Cyber Security to conduct a PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance evaluation. To protect your financial information and privacy, we need to make some changes to the way we interact with your credit card information. At this time, the Nebraska Junior Golf Tour is establishing information handling standards related to our member and guest information, including a strict prohibition against accessing or interacting with your credit card information in any form or medium. To reduce the risk of unauthorized disclosure or loss, all credit card information must now be processed only through our event service provider – Tournament Pairing Program (TPP) Online (system you already use). How does this affect you? *We will no longer be able to accept credit/debit cards onsite, over the phone, or via email for any Section tournament or event. -This means no late registration options are available *All credit/debit card transactions will need to be done through Tournament Pairing Program. We know there will be a learning curve for all of us and we are happy to answer any questions that you might have on this issue. We will still be available to offer assistance in getting you registered for any tournament or Section event if you have questions. Once our review and training process is complete, we will communicate any additional information to you as needed. Thank you for your patience during this transition and continued support of the Nebraska Junior Golf Tour.

2017 Season Underway! The golf season is upon us and it is time to knock the rust off and get to playing! Before you unleash that first drive in a competitive tournament make sure your body is in shape and ready for the rigors of a full golf season. Below are a few stretches and exercises you can do from home to prepare you for the 2017 NJGT Season. Upper Body One good chest-strengthening exercise chest begins by lying flat on the floor on your back, with your arms extended away from your body. Hold a weight in each hand. Lift your arms off the ground without bending your elbows and point them toward the ceiling until they are perpendicular to your body. Core Strength To build core strength you need to increase muscle tone in the abdomen and back. Simply tighten your stomach muscles for 60 seconds. Another good core exercise starts by lying flat on your back, arms out to the side. Bring your knees to your chest. Gently roll your knees to one side and then the other without lifting your shoulders off the floor. Lower Body Leg strength and flexibility help with both distance and accuracy. Stand with your back and shoulders flat against the wall. Keep your heels about 12 inches away from the wall. Bend your knees and slide down the wall as if you were sitting in a chair. Hold for 60 seconds. Flexibility Tightness in the shoulders, back, hips and legs restricts the extension of the club as you swing. Stretch your arm muscles by holding one arm straight out in front of you, palm up. Take your other hand and put it on the palm of the outstretched hand. Gently push the bottom palm down so your fingers are pointing toward the ground. Stretch your back by standing up straight and bringing your left arm over your head with the elbow bent so the left hand is behind your head. Grab that elbow with your other hand and tug it toward the right. Or grasp a golf club with your hands about 24 inches apart. Hold the club straight out in front of you at chest level. Stand with your knees slightly bent. Swing your arms and club to the right and then to the left, keeping your arms parallel to the floor at chest level, without turning your chest and head. 27
