LEGACY FAMILY
THE MCLANES: OUR 2019-20 LEGACY FAMILY
The McLane family has generously shared their gifts of time, talent and treasure with Notre Dame Prep for more than a decade, earning them the title of Legacy Family 2020.
Chuck and Eileen sent all three of their
sons to NDP starting with Brendan ’13, followed by Connor ’16 and Nolan ’20.
From the beginning, Chuck and Eileen got involved and shared their time in our parent groups and volunteering at school. They are every bit a part of NDP as their sons. Eileen has served bagels and other food items to students through Snack Sales at the morning break since 2009. “I’m relatively shy, so it was just a matter of someone asking me to help, and I did,” she said.
In 2015 Eileen took over as Snack Sales
chair for Mothers’ Guild and didn’t stop until COVID-19 put an end to the 2019-20 school year. She has served as the team mom for boys soccer, and also helped in the Scrip Store and Guidance Office.
Modeling their parents’ example, the McLane boys also gave of their time to help others and the school. Brendan organizes the NDP Boys Soccer Alumni game each December to keep the former NDP soccer players connected. “It’s a great way to catch up and play soccer with those you grew up with,” he said.
All three boys were scholar-athletes. Brendan and Connor shared their skills in
soccer, cross country and track; while Nolan played soccer and baseball.
The McLanes benefited from a smaller
school because it allowed their sons
to enjoy multiple activities while taking advantage of Notre Dame Prep’s various academic pathways. “I remember Brendan coming home from his shadow day saying that at NDP he could be an athlete and be
smart too,” Eileen said. “We knew then that NDP was the right place for our family.”
When their high school careers ended, the McLanes were prepared for college but they took different paths to get there. Brendan was an honors student
who, according to his mom, didn’t really need to study until he arrived at NDP. He went to Lake Forest College, where he played soccer and participated in student government. In 2019 he received his graduate degree in accounting from The University of Texas, Austin, Red McCombs School of Business, and is currently employed by Deloitte in Dallas.
Connor graduated Summa Cum Laude from NDP and went on to play college soccer while attending Chapman University where he graduated in May 2020. He is currently studying for the CPA exam and will begin his career in Los Angeles with Deloitte in 2021.
When Nolan came to NDP he utilized
the Gonzaga Program where he flourished with the help of faculty members George Prelock, Ryan Pefly and Sara Fox. “I’m very glad my parents sent me to NDP,” he said. “There were so many great experiences for me to grow as a person.”
Traveling to Iceland with his astronomy class and helping others through Christian service were Nolan’s favorite experiences at Notre Dame Prep. “What makes NDP unique is the many opportunities it offers to go outside the country to explore and to serve,” added Nolan, who is now attending school at Gonzaga University.
The McLanes exemplify what it means to be a member of NDP. They support the school faithfully by contributing to the Saints Fund every year, volunteering and taking advantage of all the ways that NDP educates and strengthens young minds, bodies and souls.
