NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARS

We celebrated our National Meritrecognized students before the whole school after Ash Wednesday Mass. We had planned to get a photo of all seven after Spring Break, but the pandemic prevented us from returning to campus. We are so very proud of the achievements of these excellent students.

NATIONAL MERIT AND TOP SENIOR SCHOLARS

The mission of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is to recognize and honor academically talented students in the United States. To earn Nation Merit recognition requires academic excellence and rigorous competition with more than 1.5 million students nationwide.

Seven Notre Dame Prep students were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation from the Class of 2020. Sophie O’Shei was named a National Merit Scholar and Sophia Warder was named a National Merit Finalist. Also earning recognition were National Hispanic Scholars Carly Bettis, Logan Schipansky and Samatha Wetherell. James Bushey and Dylan O’Hara earned the honor of National Merit Commended Scholars.

Finishing at the top of the Class of 2020 were Sophie O’Shei as valedictorian and Logan Schpansky as salutatorian. NDP counselors Kristin Garcia and Elizabeth Barnes personally delivered the news of their accomplishments to the recipients ’ homes during the COVID quarantine.
