LAUNCHING FUTURE GENERATIONS OF WOMEN INNOVATORS
Grounded in gospel values and rooted in the Hallmarks of an NDB education, an NDB Tiger is a confident, well-rounded leader who approaches life with grit, confidence and compassion. Open to a challenge, a Tiger is not afraid to put their thoughts forward and ideas into action, all while having the courage to be challenged and to challenge others. Fit for an everevolving future, a Tiger taps into their intelligence and empathy to meet the moment and rise to any occasion, whether it be treating a patient as a physician, designing a robot to aid in ocean conservation or teaching the next generation of compassionate leaders. Whatever their role, a Tiger follows their passion and forever leads with the greater purpose of serving others.
Capital Campaign Vision
$20M Goal
We are presented with an extraordinary opportunity to further elevate our school, ensuring that current and future generations of students are well-prepared to take on the role of innovators in a rapidly evolving world.
To turn this vision into reality, we have launched a capital campaign to raise $20 million. This initiative has dual and equally important purposes: to establish a modern STEM wing and to ensure the sustainability of our school by providing immediate and long-term pay increases for our dedicated faculty and staff.
Goal #1: Transforming STEM Education
This campaign will fund the creation of a designated STEM wing on our campus where our facilities will match our unparalleled college-preparatory educational offerings. This new flexible learning space allows for students to collaborate across multi-disciplinary subjects to innovate and grow, and as graduates, meet the challenges of our ever-changing world.
Goal #2: Investing in our Sustainability – Faculty and Staff Compensation
$8M $12M
The deep and personal connection our girls form with faculty and staff during these critical years is a major factor in what sets NDB apart from the rest. Raising $12 million demonstrates our commitment to supporting our devoted educators and ensuring the school’s long-term success. Specifically, these funds will accomplish two objectives: provide an immediate increase in pay for faculty and staff in the 2024 school year and continue to provide salary increases annually to remain competitive with other educational institutions in the area. This will ensure NDB can continue to attract and retain top talent, and more importantly, offer our girls the very best.
Goal #1: Transforming STEM Education
The Bay Area is renowned for being a global hub of innovation in technology, sciences, engineering, research and business. As a result, NDB has a unique advantage in providing its students with access to the latest industry insights. With the new STEM wing, our world-class faculty can facilitate crosscurricular discussions and collaborative problem-solving activities, empowering students with diverse backgrounds and points of view to think critically and creatively to find ethical solutions to complex global issues. This access will empower students to engage with the world around them.
We believe the impact of a STEM wing extends beyond providing students with improved learning spaces. We instill in our students a sense of responsibility and a service-centric mindset. Our students are encouraged to go beyond selfinterest and approach challenges with a focus on making a positive impact on the world. This initiative is driven by the mission to bridge the gender gap in the STEM workforce, as women currently represent only thirty percent of the STEM professionals in the United States.
Doctor of Optometry
"Built on the tenets of integrity, compassion and perseverance, my Notre Dame Belmont education as a tuition assistance recipient allowed me to confidently pursue a meaningful career in optometry. Today, I am able to impact hundreds of patients by providing sight-saving medical care."
Jacqueline Evans ‘05
Designed with input from faculty, students, parents and industry leaders, this STEM wing will include:
Innovation Lab
The Innovation Lab will focus on fostering creativity, problem-solving and cross-disciplinary collaboration among students. We are creating a physical space that is flexible and adaptable including areas for students to work on ojects, explore new ideas and apply their knowledge in practical and ovative ways. As the Innovation Lab will house the Robotics program, it have ample room to assemble and test robots, store materials and have rkstations for programming. The Lab will also provide opportunities for dents to showcase their projects and innovations to the broader mmunity. This will include exhibitions, competitions and presentations to ers, parents/guardians and industry professionals.
e Center for Ethics and Technology
e inclusion of the Center for Ethics and Technology is unique, forwardnking and an expression of Notre Dame values. Helmed by the Spiritual e department, it will enable students to consider the ethical implications technological advancements and guide them in making responsible cisions about how technology is used to benefit society.
edicated Science-Discipline Classrooms and Labs
eating specialized classrooms and labs for each scientific discipline will ovide students with the necessary space and resources to engage in cused learning and experimentation. Having dedicated spaces for hemistry, biology and physics lectures and hands-on work will enhance the uality of education in STEM subjects.
cience Faculty Office Space
oviding new office space for science faculty is crucial for fostering ollaboration and accessibility. When faculty members can work closely gether and be easily available to students, it promotes a supportive arning environment.
Renovated Math Classrooms
Transforming the current science classrooms for math classes is a great way to optimize the use of space and resources. This ensures that every area of our campus is utilized effectively to accommodate the evolved needs of the curriculum.
Future Possibilities
Our new facilities will not only enhance our outstanding core subjects, but we are aspiring to use the space effectively to offer new and exciting opportunities for the students such as adding:
Rooftop
Garden
Creating a rooftop garden is an excellent way to merge hands-on learning with environmental science. Students can study plant biology, ecology and sustainability while gaining experience in gardening and maintaining green spaces.
New Class Offerings
We aim to introduce new classes in robotics/AI, engineering, astronomy and marine biology in the future. These specialized fields can enrich the educational offerings at NDB. Along with our classes, these subjects will inspire curiosity, critical thinking and open the possibilities for potential career interests.
"Notre Dame instilled in me the conviction to pursue my dream to become a physician. My high school experience gave me the confidence to strive as a woman in the field of science. My Notre Dame roots have helped me to succeed as a compassionate physician, daughter, wife and mother."
Bridget Marchetti Philip ‘92, Anesthesiologist
Goal #2: Investing in our Sustainability – Faculty and Staff Compensation
Objective 1: Increase the compensation packages for our educators and staff.
Our school recognizes that one hallmark of an NDB education is to “Learn for Life,” and we greatly value the expertise and wisdom of each individual, especially our exceptional team of educators.
Our educators play a vital role in providing outstanding curriculum, fostering cross-curricular collaboration and guiding young women to their full potential. Their passion for our school and their genuine enthusiasm for their work is critical to the overall community and learning environment at NDB.
We must continue to not only attract top-tier educators but also retain the talented individuals who are an integral part of the school’s community.
Our students are “seen” by NDB teachers and staff and that depth of relationship and connection comes at a critical time in their development and directly impacts their formulation of self-confidence and positive self-identity. We have seen the difference it makes in shaping a young woman to live with purpose and seize opportunities, no matter what life path they choose.
“I love teaching and working at NDB because this is the happiest and healthiest school environment I have ever worked in. The level of respect everyone has for each other starts at the top and goes through every rung in the community.”
Karen Fry Social Science Teacher
“I love teaching and working at NDB because of the supportive and caring community. I am inspired by our students who are dedicated to social justice and are empowered to make a positive impact.”
Rebecca Girard Science Teacher
“Not only is the community wonderful, but NDB has both the capacity and willingness to do big things. I have worked with students who have built online tools to create voting plans for the 2020 election, who created a virtual Winter Formal at the height of Covid, and made it into a fundraiser for Covid relief at the same time. NDB encourages us to try new things, to be big and bold, and to test the limits of what's possible.”
Jonathan Tomczak Social Science Teacher
Goal #2: An Endowment to Advance Equity, Excellence and Innovation
Objective 2: Provide Competitive Financial Aid Packages
The Hallmarks of an NBD education, which include “Dignify All” and “Embrace Diversity,” emphasize the importance of ensuring access to education for all students regardless of their financial backgrounds. After 100 years, we are still called by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur’s heritage to offer a life-changing education for students of every income level.
The rising cost of living in the Bay Area poses challenges for many families, making it essential for our school to maintain a competitive edge in recruiting and retaining students by offering attractive financial aid packages.
By providing competitive financial aid packages, our school seeks to break down economic barriers and create an inclusive environment where students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds can thrive. This commitment aims to make the school accessible to talented young women who might not otherwise have the means to attend NDB, fostering a rich and diverse student body.
Objective 3: Fuel Ongoing Program Innovation
The new STEM wing is just one step in our ongoing commitment to bring the best education and experience to our students. Over time, we will develop an endowment to ensure that our curriculum across subjects can be adapted and continually improved to meet the moment. These funds can also open the door to special projects sponsored by students and teachers to take deep dives into certain subject areas that put them, and NDB, on the forefront of secondary education.
THE TIME
OUR GOAL: $20 MILLION
To amplify our mission, we have launched a $20M campaign, the first of its kind. Lasting Legacy - Launching Future Generations of Women Innovators - will allow our school to thrive and flourish. The time is now to take the next critical steps in making our vision a reality. The changes that will be realized through this campaign are a powerful expression of our mission to develop compassionate young women of active faith, strong intellect and Christian leadership dedicated to promoting justice and peace in the world.
This is the unique stamp of NDB.

“I value the all-girls education that NDB uniquely offers, as the experience enabled personal development by strengthening my confidence and my ability to communicate well with others. I work with researchers, doctors, nurses and all kinds of patients and communicating effectively is very important. An NDB education allowed me to enter college and the workforce with confidence.”
Brooke Nightingale Duleavy ‘11, Genetic Counselor at Stanford Children’s Hospital
“At NDB, I was always encouraged to speak up, make mistakes, try new things, challenge myself, and be a go-getter. This made me fearless in college and starting my professional career. This propelled unbelievable passion, ambition, and growth that I continue to build upon today. There was also an unbelievable support system between faculty, staff, and fellow peers, which taught me the importance of community and its impact. Anything is possible when there is a sense of community and purpose, and I learned that at NDB.”
