With hearts full and futures bright, the Class of 2025 celebrates the culmination of their Notre Dame journey at Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Dear Notre Friends and Families,

Welcome to the Fall Issue of Visions! Within these pages, you’ll witness the vibrant spirit of our community— students, faculty, staff, and alumnae—living out their passions, lifting up their voices, and making meaningful contributions to the world around them.

This year, we embrace Hallmark One, inspired by our beloved Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur: We proclaim by our lives even more than by our words that God is good. This powerful call to lead with purpose, live with gratitude, and act with integrity is reflected throughout this magazine.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 - our newest alumnae, as they embark on their college journeys. Their accomplishments are a testament to their hard work, character, and the support of our community.

I invite you to read about our signature program, ND Cares, which addresses the ever-changing needs of our students’ well-being with a focus on building resilience and capacity through community programming and compassionate support. Beyond the Gates, our graduates—Jenna Taylor ’12, Brittney Harris ’10, and Martie Bernicker ’85—are also dedicated to this work, shaping the lives of young people in profound ways. Read about these women of faith and impact, who are making a difference!

Thank you to the Andronowitz family for their generous gift in support of The Fund for Belonging. In its inaugural year, this fund will extend financial support beyond tuition assistance, ensuring that students can fully engage in the richness of ND life—from athletics and the arts to service, travel, and cherished school traditions.

In the faculty profile, you will read about Mr. Quigg, a dedicated educator whose wisdom, empathy, and commitment to his students exemplify the transformative power of teaching. He prepares our students to engage thoughtfully with the world and to lead with care and kindness.

As we look ahead, I am reminded that the continued excellence of the Academy is made possible by your generosity. The Notre Dame Fund, events like the ND Classic, and scholarship gifts such as EITC are vital to sustaining the academic rigor, spiritual formation, and vibrant student life that define a Notre Dame education. If you’ve already made your 2025–2026 gift, thank you for being part of this essential mission. If not, I invite you to join us— now, or during Spirit Week, beginning October 27. Your support ensures that today’s students have every opportunity to grow, thrive, and become the compassionate leaders our world needs.

Notre Dame is a place I am proud to call home—a community where girls thrive academically and grow in mind, body, and spirit. Enjoy this look into our extraordinary school!

In peace, simplicity, and courage,

Dr. Laura M. Hotchkiss

MISSION STATEMENT

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school dedicated to excellence in academics and to the charism of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, cares for all people as a reflection of the Good God. Our mission is to guide young women as they grow in faith, intellectual curiosity, courage, leadership, and a passion for serving others.

ND Cares Building Resilience and Community Through Compassionate Support

When Head of School Dr. Laura Hotchkiss began her tenure at the Academy, one of the first things she noticed was the deep sense of care and support that flowed through the halls. This spirit of compassion, woven into every aspect of school life by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, inspired her to launch a school-wide initiative: ND Cares.

ND Cares is a holistic approach to wellbeing, recognizing that all aspects of wellness are interconnected. The mission is to create a supportive environment where every student can build resilience and develop the skills they need to thrive.

Dr. Hotchkiss understood that achieving this goal would require a team approach from all adults in a student's life. That is why supporting the adults who provide that guidance for ND students is also a pillar of ND Cares.

The initiative is a large umbrella of support with its students being at the center of all that the Academy does. The ND Cares Team

is comprised of counselors and learning support specialists who commit themselves to fostering the development of students’ well-being through providing holistic, highquality, and equitable services reducing the stigma of asking for help.

Over the last five years, the team has found ways to break the stigma around mental health in every corner of student life at ND. Whether it be on the field, in the classroom, during lunch, or even while on social media.

In the fall of 2022, the Academy launched a three-year partnership with The Jed Foundation, during which a strategic plan

was developed based on data collected throughout the community. Since then, every aspect of programming at the Academy has been guided by the specific needs of faculty, staff, students, and parents that emerged from that data.

The Jed Foundation is a nonprofit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults, giving them the skills and support they need to thrive today and tomorrow.

Laura Schmidt, the Director of Student Support and Well-Being, described the incredible growth the community has seen since 2022.

90%

of students know where to go if they need help with their mental health

OVER 85% of students are aware of the mental health outreach efforts available at ND

93% of students agreed they see themselves as a part of the Notre Dame community

"Each student brings their unique identity to ND, and every individual should be valued, seen, and deserving of a sense of belonging."
— Laura Schmidt, Director of Student Support and Well-Being

“When we resurveyed with the Jed Foundation, we saw significant growth in our students feeling like they have a support system on campus, and that they know where to go if they or a friend needs support,” Schmidt said.

One example of the ND Cares team’s commitment to improving student access to resources is the set of wellness cards placed in every bathroom and scattered throughout campus. These cards have direct links to schedule a session with their counselor, the ND Mental Health Resource Guide, and emergency resources like 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

“When designing a program to support 100% of our students, we recognize the need for ongoing evaluation as our student body evolves,” Schmidt shared.

Throughout the school year, the ND Cares Team finds ways to encourage students to celebrate themselves and one another, making a significant impact on their well-being.

Starting with Unity Day in October to World Kindness Day in November, students, faculty, and staff are invited to recognize and celebrate acts of kindness and gratitude within the community. From handwritten notes placed in lockers to sticky notes with shoutouts posted on bulletin boards in the hallways, these displays of support shine a light on the meaningful ways the community supports and uplifts one another.

“It reminds us that we are not alone and that we are seen in this community. When we celebrate and highlight these moments, they will continue to grow,” Schmidt said.

This support extends beyond the Gates of Notre Dame. The Mental Health Resource Guide is a valuable tool for parents, highlighting a wide range of community resources. Families can find support for mental health, grief and loss, eating disorders, and counseling needs, as well as connections to sports psychologists.

Recognizing that students' social, emotional, and academic needs evolve over time, the Academy provides curated support that reflects the Middle School and Upper School experience.

"

As an alumna

and the parent of one

current student, I am deeply grateful for the ND Cares initiative. It is incredibly meaningful to see my alma mater leading with such compassion and intention. ND Cares does not just respond to challenges; it empowers young women with lifelong tools to care for their mental health, manage stress, and support one another. It fosters a culture of empathy, resilience, and connection. Knowing that my daughters have grown, and are growing, in this environment gives me both peace of mind and profound pride."

Cindy DePiano McKernan ’88 P’14'27

Middle School is a pivotal time for developing leadership skills and personal growth. To provide the highest level of care, Notre Dame has a dedicated Middle School counselor who works exclusively with students in grades six through eight. This counselor builds strong relationships through one-on-one sessions, group interventions, and a counseling seminar class.

As part of the counselor-led class, Notre Dame partners with The Social Institute to deliver its #WinAtSocial curriculum — a program designed to help students navigate digital citizenship and social-emotional development. Monthly lessons are grounded in timely, culturally relevant themes such as “Cyberback,” “Play to Your Core,” and “Find Your Influencers.”

In the Upper School, the Academy’s approach emphasizes relationship-building as the foundation for high-quality counseling services. Beginning in 9th Grade, each student is paired with a counselor who will support them throughout all four years.

The partnership with the Jed Foundation allows Notre Dame to actively evaluate its Upper School programming to maintain a responsive and impactful experience for all students.

The partnerships outside the walls of Notre Dame are part of the initiative's success. Notre Dame also partners with SpeakUp!, a nonprofit founded in 2000 by Martie Gillin in memory of her son and is now led by her daughter ND alumna Martie Gillin Bernicker ’85.

SpeakUp! brings students, educators, and parents together for open and honest conversations about relevant and often tough topics.

Notre Dame’s two learning support specialists are integral members of the Student Support and Well-Being Team, working in close, ongoing collaboration to ensure students receive the individualized academic support they need.

As part of the interdisciplinary Student Support Team, they collaborate with faculty and staff to address student needs holistically. They also work closely with the Athletic Department to support students both in and out of the classroom, ensuring a well-rounded and responsive approach to student well-being.

This comprehensive, team-based approach to care reflects the Academy’s deep commitment to nurturing the whole student—mind, body, and spirit. Whether through academic support, emotional guidance, or personal development, every effort is made to ensure that students feel supported in every aspect of their lives.

At the heart of this commitment is a shared understanding that true well-being flourishes in a community where every student feels connected and cared for.

The sisterhood at the Academy of Notre Dame is a defining part of the community, Schmidt shared.

“When one of us is struggling, I want our students to feel empowered to reach out, support their sisters, and help connect them with the resources they need. That is what it means to be a community — recognizing when someone needs help and caring enough to take action, and that is ND Cares,” Schmidt said.

Looking ahead, Schmidt said the future is bright for ND Cares. New for this 2025-2026 school year is the ND Cares Leadership Team. This leadership team of students will evolve programming so the Academy can continue to support the school community in a way that meets students where they are.

One of their first projects will be organizing a special morning dedicated to mental wellness. In partnership with Minding Your Mind, the event will feature a presentation followed by small group discussions led by members of the ND Cares Leadership Team, fostering meaningful conversations and peer support.

Schmidt said that the Student Support and Well-Being Team continues its commitment to outreach to faculty, staff, coaches, and parents.

With strong support systems in place both on and off campus, the Academy is confident that its students will continue to thrive, equipped with the tools to care for themselves and one another.

“Our goal is to ensure everyone feels equipped to support young people’s mental health, helping them build resilience and thrive,” Schmidt said.

Rooted in Service, Growing in Belonging

A FAMILY’S NOTRE DAME LEGACY

This fall, the Academy of Notre Dame is proud to launch a new initiative: The Fund for Belonging. Driven by our commitment to community and compassion, this donor-supported resource is created to extend access to enriching experiences, guaranteeing every student feels seen, supported, and welcomed into the Notre Dame sisterhood.

IGiving back is a core Beckham family value, lived out not just in belief, but in daily action.

n partnership with the Finance Office at Notre Dame, The Fund for Belonging the cost of a wide range of school-related expenses, such as cafeteria services, club and athletic fees, school-sponsored travel and field trips, athletic gear, school supplies, and more. From joining a new club to exploring the world with classmates or sharing laughter over lunch, the fund makes it possible for every student to feel included, supported, and fully part of life at the Academy. This fund was made possible through a generous seed gift from the Andronowitz family who is deeply committed to the values of an all-girls education, equity, and giving back. Their inspiration was to honor the memory of Kenneth J. Beckham and Loyce M. Beckham whose legacy lives

We hope that through The Fund for Belonging, all girls at Notre Dame are able to have the full experience, regardless of their financial circumstances. on in their family, including granddaughter Peyton Andronowitz ’30 and Carson Andronowitz ’28, Malvern Preparatory School.

Giving back is a core Beckham family value, lived out not just in belief, but in daily action. Ken earned his degree in chemistry and later a degree in operations research from the Naval Postgraduate School. After a brief stint as a chemist with the U.S. National Geological Society, Ken joined the military, where he dedicated more than two decades of service with assignments that spanned from Morocco to Washington, D.C., including a tour in Vietnam.

Loyce devoted her professional life to serving children. She held roles as an adoption caseworker, a social worker at a school for exceptional children, and an aide to dependent children. In later years, she continued her legacy of care through her ministry, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Olney, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kensington, and at the Bethesda Naval Hospital.

With both Ken and Loyce now passed, Loyce in 2021 and Ken in 2025, the family sought a meaningful way to honor their lives. The Fund for Belonging reflects what they held most dear: generosity, education, and opportunity. The fund is an inspiring testament to the power of community and a beautiful reminder that when one of us belongs, we all do.

“The Fund for Belonging felt like the perfect fit,” Jeanne said. “It supports so much of how they raised me—giving back and creating opportunities for children to grow.”

The goal of the fund is clear: to help ensure that every Notre Dame student can fully experience the myriad of opportunities and experiences regardless of financial circumstance. It is a gift that looks both backward and forward, honoring a legacy while paying it forward to future generations of Notre Dame students.

“We hope that through The Fund for Belonging, all girls at Notre Dame are able to have the full experience, regardless of their financial circumstances. Our wish is that this act of giving inspires others to contribute to ensure that every student feels included and empowered, strengthening the ND community for years to come,” Jeanne said.

The Academy is grateful to Jeanne and Joe Andronowitz P’30 for launching The Fund for Belonging in honor of Kenneth J. Beckham and Loyce M. Beckham.

Seán Quigg

With over 15 years of dedication to the Academy, Mr. Seán Quigg has become a beloved presence in both the religion and social studies departments. Known for his student-centered approach, thoughtful classroom activities, and wholehearted commitment to Notre Dame’s mission, Mr. Quigg brings history and civics to life in meaningful, relevant ways. From mock trials to mandala coloring, he finds creative ways to engage his students while fostering empathy, curiosity, and leadership. We sat down with Mr. Quigg to learn more about his journey, his teaching philosophy, and what keeps him inspired in the classroom each day.

What has made you stay part of the ND community for over 15 years?

I have stayed for over 15 years because of the kindness and curiosity of the students and the spirit of the Sisters of Notre Dame that has remained on campus.

How has your approach to teaching evolved over the years?

I have definitely developed a more studentcentered approach to teaching. Students come into the classroom with varying levels of ability and often with very specific needs. I have learned to adapt and to always be flexible. If a student is having difficulty comprehending a lesson, I try to meet them where they are. By understanding a student's background and her interests, I can better relate the material in a more effective way.

What do you hope your students take away from your class, beyond just the textbook knowledge?

In social studies, our discipline naturally lends itself to exploring "life outside the Gates.” As a teacher of world history, I hope my students leave with an appreciation for and respect towards all cultures. We actually begin the year by watching Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's The Danger of a Single Story, which is a TED Talk about stereotypes creating incomplete stories about people or cultures. It is the perfect way to begin our study of ancient civilizations, and it is also a good reminder to respect and recognize all peoples' stories.

What is your favorite tradition at Notre Dame?

That is a tough one! Spirit Day and Denim Day obviously come to mind, but it is sometimes the smallest things that I look forward to - seeing the latest trends at prom, getting to see how the juniors did their nails for Ring Mass, and watching the seniors walk down the aisle at graduation with their yellow roses.

"...it is imperative that my students leave with the knowledge of how our government works. And more importantly, I want my students to be aware of how their lives - and the lives of others - are impacted by the decisions of our elected officials."

How do you think your subject helps shape responsible citizens or future leaders?

As one of the two teachers of the AP government and politics course, it is imperative that my students leave with the knowledge of how our government works. And more importantly, I want my students to be aware of how their lives - and the lives of others - are impacted by the decisions of our elected officials. I also try to stress the role they can have beyond voting, whether that is engaging in civil protest, contacting their representatives, or even simply engaging in conversations with family and friends.

What has it meant to you to be part of this school community for so many years, and how have you seen it change or grow over time?

I am so fortunate to work in a community where I feel respected, heard, and welcome. From the day I started, the Notre Dame students and my colleagues have not only embraced me but have also taught me so much along the way. I love it when I hear a knock at my classroom door, and it is former students coming back to visit! I have been blessed with many meaningful relationships with parents throughout the years. It is always bittersweet to greet parents at graduation, knowing that they, too, will be leaving the Gates.

How do you incorporate Notre Dame’s values and traditions into your social studies curriculum?

As Saint Julie Billiart taught us, we must "have hearts as wide as the world." While this can apply to every discipline area, I do believe that the social studies and religion departments have an important responsibility to implement the mission of Saint Julie and the Sisters of Notre Dame into our curricula.

What is one piece of advice you have for ND students and alumnae?

Be kind. Be kind to yourself; be kind to others. You never know what someone might be going through or what happened in their past, so empathy and compassion are so important. It sounds trite, but always know that the world is a better place because you are in it

School can be stressful for students (and teachers!) - how do you incorporate well-being into your lessons/classroom?

For world history, we do get to de-stress by coloring mandalas when we are covering India while watching a documentary. After our unit on Islam, we color the Hand of Fatima leading up to finals. In AP government, we do creative assignments with the different theories of democracy. We do release exhale after the AP test in May and have a little party to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments throughout the year

"As a teacher of world history, I hope my students leave with an appreciation for and respect towards all cultures."

LIVING THE LEGACY

LIVING THE LEGACY Alumnae Advancing the Notre Dame Mission of Well-Being

The support and well-being of students is deeply embedded within the educational philosophy of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Creating an environment that cares for the mind, body, spirit, and heart of each young woman is integral to our mission and truly distinguishes the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur amongst other institutions in our region and beyond.

This student-centered priority creates a lasting positive impact and an enduring appreciation for its value as graduates advance into college and their professional lives.

Today, we celebrate these alumnae who continue the mission of St. Julie and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur through their work and dedication to the wellbeing of others.

Martie Bernicker has been involved with SpeakUp! since it was founded by her mother, Mrs. Martie Gillin, back in 2000, and formally stepped into the role of Executive Director in 2015. Mrs. Gillin lost her eldest son, Bob, in 1992 to AIDS at the age of 30. Before he passed, Bob asked his mother to help break the silence surrounding his illness.

Martie Gillin Bernicker ’85

Executive Director, SpeakUp!

Martie Gillin

While Martie began by speaking in schools about HIV/AIDS awareness, her conversations revealed something deeper. Teens were grappling with a range of difficult issues and needed a safe, supportive space to talk openly and honestly about their lives.

Today, SpeakUp! is a nonprofit that supports young people as they navigate their journey to adulthood. This is done by helping them talk honestly about their worries and challenges with important adults while positioning those adults to be better listeners and guides.

According to Bernicker, the list of pressures that adolescents face is significant and is growing, also making it more difficult to be a parent or caring adult.

share a core belief that every young person deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued.
— Martie Gillin Bernicker '85

“Young people are incredible, but it is not easy to be a young person right now,” Bernicker explained.

Bernicker often reflects that her role has been to bring the science behind the art of what her mother created, grounding her mom’s gut instincts, intuition, and inspiration with research and structure. With her deep passion for this work, Bernicker is proud to share the data-driven outcomes that tell the story behind SpeakUp!’s impact:

• 91% of participants say they realize they are not alone.

• 84% are more willing to ask for help.

• 91% plan to use what they learned to strengthen their relationships.

• 90% of adults come away with a more positive view of teens.

As for what inspires her, Bernicker points to the people that she serves and works alongside.

“It is a privilege to be part of a community that is committed to making life better for others. I am especially passionate about

SpeakUp!’s mission; it is my brother’s legacy, my mom’s vision, and something I witness making a difference every day,” Bernicker shared.

In thinking back to her days at Notre Dame, Bernicker remembers Saint Julie’s familiar quote, “Teach them what they need to know for life.” She credits the Academy and the caring adults who surrounded her for teaching more than academics – they taught her how to live with faith, integrity, compassion, and purpose.

“I recently saw the phrase on the Notre Dame website: An atmosphere of openness, warmth, and responsible freedom. That still rings true!” Bernicker said.

It is with mutual admiration that SpeakUp! and Notre Dame are proud partners in the important work of promoting student wellbeing. This year marks SpeakUp!’s 25th anniversary, and Martie is using this milestone to accelerate the organization's growth and deepen its impact. Current goals include:

• Doubling their reach to engage over 5,500 students, parenting adults, and school adults each year

• Expanding their school network from 30 to 40 active partner schools, with a focus on under-resourced communities

• Developing digital tools that amplify what we’ve learned from 35,000 youth and families over the past 25 years

• Reconnecting with alumni, to support them in continuing to “speak up” and ask for help

Brittney Harris, DNP, CRNA ’10

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

This fall, Brittney Harris will step into a new chapter of her professional journey as a certified registered nurse anesthetist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. This opportunity follows her graduation in May 2025 from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Nursing with her doctor of nursing practice degree. Prior to her graduate degree work, Harris was a nurse in several Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU), including The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Penn Medicine, and Nemours Children’s Hospital. In these spaces, she knew that life could change in an instant for patients and their families.

“I have witnessed moments that never leave you. This work has taught me that, above all else, in order to truly care for others, especially on the worst days of their lives, we must first take care of ourselves. You simply cannot pour from an empty cup,” Harris shared.

The idea of well-being is something Harris carries with her not only as a nurse but as a person. It is at the heart of why she chose a career dedicated to caring for others.

“That commitment also includes checking in on the 'strong ones,' which includes ourselves. We often overlook the people who seem to have it all together, the coworker who always arrives early and stays late or the

“ As I move forward in my career, the lessons I learned at Notre Dame continue to echo in my life: show up for others, care deeply, and never forget to check in with yourself. Because when we take care of ourselves, we show up as our fullest, strongest selves for those who need us.

friend who seems to flawlessly juggle everything.” Harris said, adding that her work has taught her to pause and ask: How are you, really?

These values are deeply rooted in Harris as a result of her time at Notre Dame. As a student at an all-girls, college preparatory school, she was surrounded by determined, highachieving young women.

“We pushed ourselves hard, often not just for our own goals, but for approval: from parents, teachers, peers. And while there is power in that drive, I have come to understand the importance of balance. Working hard is admirable, but not at the cost of our well-being,“ Harris reflected.

Watching her alma mater grow through initiatives like ND Cares has been especially meaningful for Harris. The program resonates deeply with her, now more than ever, as she has come to appreciate how life’s unexpected challenges can be met with resilience, selfcompassion, and grace.

“As I move forward in my career, the lessons I learned at Notre Dame continue to echo in my life: show up for others, care deeply, and never forget to check in with yourself. Because when we take care of ourselves, we show up as our fullest, strongest selves for those who need us.”

Dr. Jennifer (Jenna) Taylor ’12

Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Anxiety & OCD Center

Dr. Jennifer (Jenna) Taylor is a licensed clinical psychologist working in outpatient private practice at the Anxiety & OCD Center in Malvern, PA. She specializes in treating children, teens, and young adults struggling with anxiety-related disorders and OCD. Anxiety can take many forms, and a particular area of interest in Dr. Taylor’s work that is highly relevant to young people is perfectionism and school performance anxiety.

After graduating from Notre Dame in 2012, Taylor completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Boston College in 2016. She then went on to complete her doctorate in clinical psychology at Widener University’s Institute of Graduate Clinical Psychology in 2023, specializing in child, adolescent, and family therapy and school psychology.

Taylor explained the importance of supporting young adults as they navigate their emotions, work through challenging life transitions, and grow in their understanding of themselves.

“The goal is not to get rid of this emotion, but to work through it flexibly and compassionately so that it does not hold us back from living the life that we want to live,” Taylor said.

Taylor emphasized that helping students recognize anxiety as a normal and fluctuating part of life is a key step in building emotional resilience.

with and supporting people through community service helped instill in Taylor the value of compassion and respect for all people’s unique challenges and needs.

Knowing that Notre Dame has seen success with its ND Cares program resonates deeply with Taylor, especially as students today face immense pressure that can feel both overwhelming and isolating.

“I am happy to hear that Notre Dame is promoting and investing in an initiative to support students’ emotional well-being, as this can help students feel less alone in their struggles, more supported in their school environment, and better understood by the adults who care for them.”

TURN YOUR PA TAXES INTO TUITION SUPPORT FOR ND STUDENTS

Tell Harrisburg how to spend your Pennsylvania tax liability and support ND students at the same time!

Join the program and receive a 90% tax credit for 2025 and 2026.

Do You Pay Pennsylvania State Tax?

If so, you’re in luck! You can redirect your PA taxes to the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur!

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) is a great way to expand access to a Notre Dame education by providing tuition assistance for eligible families. This is the easiest way to tell Harrisburg how to redirect your PA tax dollars AND support the ND mission.

If you pay more than $1,000 to Pennsylvania each year, please consider supporting the ND Tax Credit Program.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Academy awarded more than $1,200,000 in scholarships funded by EITC/ OSTC contributions - a milestone that was only possible because of the generosity of the Notre Dame community!

How Does It Work?

How to Begin

Step 1: Estimate your PA Tax Liability. A two-year commitment for the same amount is required.

Step 2: Contact the ND Advancement office. They will guide you through each step of the process!

Step 3: You will be provided with a formal agreement to be signed, followed by detailed gift instructions.

Step 4: In February, you will receive a K-1 to claim your 90% credit/refund. If your PA state tax has been withheld all year long as payroll deduction, you will be refunded after you file your taxes. Please know this may take 6-9 months to receive the refund.

Step 5: Your second (or year 2) contribution will be made approximately one year following the first payment date.

When you choose Notre Dame to be the recipient of your tax credit contribution, 100% of your gift will be awarded to a ND family in need of tuition assistance. Contact the Advancement office today to learn how easy it is to give the gift of a Catholic education to ND students!

As a result of the collective giving power of EITC donors, ND awarded scholarships to 60 students during the 2024-2025 academic year. These wonderful students would not have had the opportunity to attend ND without the generous support of EITC participants. Thank you!

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

At the Academy of Notre Dame, our mission is to guide young women as they grow in faith, intellectual curiosity, courage, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to serving others. While the world around us continues to evolve, the heart of the Notre Dame experience remains constant, rooted in cherished traditions and a values-based education that endures long after our graduates go beyond the Gates. This legacy is made possible, in part, by the remarkable foresight of those who choose to make Notre Dame part of their estate plans. Through their planned giving, these individuals ensure that the Academy’s mission thrives for generations to come.

The St. Julie Society ”

”My sisters and I were so blessed to be able to attend Notre Dame, which instilled in us a love for lifelong learning in a faith-based environment. Leaving a gift in my future plans is my way of ensuring that incoming students have the same opportunity that my family members and I had.

-Jan Petersen '70

These visionary donors are members of the Saint Julie Society, named in honor of Saint Julie Billiart, foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The Society recognizes and celebrates those who have included Notre Dame in their will, trust, retirement plan, or other estate gift, so that future generations may benefit from the same empowering education.

For many alumnae, parents, and friends, a planned gift is a deeply personal way to give back. Whether it is inspired by gratitude for a faith-based education, appreciation for lifelong friendships formed, or recognition of the financial assistance that made a Notre Dame education possible. By naming the Academy as a beneficiary of a will, trust, retirement plan, life insurance policy, life income gift, or other planned giving arrangement, donors join a distinguished group committed to advancing the educational mission of Saint Julie.

To learn more about the Saint Julie Society and how to make a planned gift, please contact Director of Advancement Trish Kyle at 610-971-1630, tkyle@ndapa.org or scan this QR code.

We are pleased to recognize the following individuals who have informed the Academy that they have established a planned gift arrangement to benefit Notre Dame or intend to do so, in addition to those whose request has already been gratefully received.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

As I reflect on the 2024–2025 school year, I am filled with pride and gratitude for all that our Notre Dame Communitystudents, faculty, and families have accomplished together. From the courts and turf to the classroom and beyond, this year has been a powerful testament to the strength and spirit of the Notre Dame sisterhood.

Notre Dame student-athletes proudly claimed PAISAA and Inter-Ac championship titles. The performing arts program delighted sold-out audiences with exceptional productions, including a fully student-led production of High School Musical! The Scholar Programs in the Arts, Global Citizenship, and STEM continue to offer exceptional opportunities for meaningful, in-depth study, blending classroom learning with hands-on experiences that prepare students to lead, create, and problem-solve beyond Notre Dame. There were so many reasons to celebrate throughout the year, each one a reflection of our talented students and the dedication of the faculty who make these experiences possible.

This momentum is only possible because of the enduring support of our Notre Dame Community families, alumnae, and friends. Your generosity fuels the scholarships, programs, and spaces that shape the transformative Notre Dame experience. A shining example of this support was our Day of Giving on April 8, when hundreds of donors came together to celebrate Notre Dame and raised critical funds that directly impact every student, every day.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you for your continued commitment to the mission and your unwavering belief in the potential of Notre Dame students. Your support is a forever proposition that ensures that the legacy of excellence, leadership, and faith continues for generations to come.

With sincere appreciation,

On May 28, 2025, the Notre Dame Board of Trustees hosted a special celebration honoring Barb Phelan Riley for her years of dedicated service to the Academy and her impactful leadership as a member of the Board.

As a tribute to Barb’s deep faith, generous spirit, and unwavering commitment to Notre Dame, gifts were made in her honor to establish an outdoor Stations of the Cross, installed on campus during the summer of 2025. This sacred space will serve as a place of reflection, prayer, and peace for generations of students and community members.

HE IMPORTANCE OF GIVING TO NOTRE DAME

What Is The Notre Dame Fund?

The Notre Dame Fund is the Academy’s most essential annual fundraising initiative. It provides vital, unrestricted support that impacts every aspect of life at Notre Dame—academics, arts, athletics, technology, faculty excellence, campus life, and more.

While tuition covers a significant portion of our operating costs, it does not cover the full cost of educating a Notre Dame student. Like most independent schools, we rely on philanthropic support to bridge this gap. The Notre Dame Fund helps fill that critical difference—ensuring students benefit from enriched opportunities while helping the school remain accessible and competitive.

Gifts to The Notre Dame Fund are used immediately and make a difference every single day. They allow the Academy to be agile and innovative, responsive to opportunities, and committed to the highest standards of excellence in educating young women.

OF GIVING - April 8, 2025

T he Academy’s Day of Giving took place on April 8, in celebration of the Feast Day of St. Julie Billiart. Her unwavering faith and commitment to the education of young women continue to inspire Notre Dame’s mission. This day served as the perfect backdrop for our exciting goal of reaching 300 donors by day’s end.

The community rose to the occasion, energized by a series of exciting challenges and milestones. The Young Alumnae Challenge unlocked a generous $10,000 gift from the O’Brien Family. A Board of Trustees Match doubled gifts up to $100,000, amplifying every donation’s impact, and the day kicked off strong with the Sunflower Challenge, unlocking $6,500 thanks to early morning donors.

Celebrations abounded on campus: the Class of 2030 enjoyed a special afternoon of fun, while the Class of 2028 earned a dress-down day for the highest parent participation. The Advancement Cottage was renamed in honor of the Class of 1997, who raised the most funds, and the Class of 2010 marked the occasion with a Reunion toast for having the most donors.

Thank you for your incredible generosity and for helping Notre Dame continue to flourish—today, tomorrow, and always.

93 DONORS (144% OF 300 DONOR GOAL)

432 total amount raised $247,555

Endowed Funds play an important role as the annual income from these funds provides tremendous support for students and helps to fulfill the Academy’s mission. We are grateful to those donors who made contributions during the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
