ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE
AT BRINSWORTH ACADEMY
WE WANT ALL OUR STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE.

We have a highly talented staff team committed to helping every individual student reach their potential. We provide excellence in learning and excellence in personal development.
Our pastoral care is second to none and our status as one of Rotherham’s best attended secondary schools demonstrates the difference this makes to our students. We welcome the fact that we have in our academy students from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and our Academy and Community Together (ACT) team ensure that the academy is at the heart of our community.
Our students are very well equipped to play their part in modern British society.

CURRICULUM
OUR CURRICULUM IS CONSTANTLY DEVELOPING, WITH STUDENTS OFFERED COURSES DESIGNED TO MEET THEIR NEEDS AND ENSURE THEIR SUCCESS.
We strive to offer a broad and balanced curriculum for all students that is carefully planned and sequenced.
KEY STAGE 3 - (YEARS 7-9)
In Year 7, students are placed in a mixed ability form group. Each form is cared for and supervised by a form tutor, who is the students’ and parents’ first point of contact. We offer a broad curriculum that allows our students to build on previous knowledge, whilst opening their eyes to the diverse and interesting world in which we live. Students will begin to develop a variety of study skills they will become to rely on in Key Stage 4.
Each form is part of a year group. The pastoral leaders monitor the educational progress, welfare, behaviour and pastoral care of each student in their year.
KEY STAGE 4 - (YEARS 10-11)
During Year 10, students begin their GCSE courses. Students follow a number of core subjects and are asked to choose from a range of optional subjects.
Our curriculum is constantly developing with students offered a mix of traditional GCSE courses supplemented by a range of appropriate vocational qualifications.
THE SIXTH FORM - (YEARS 12-13)
We have a very successful Sixth Form. in A-level and BTEC subjects is very good. Students are given opportunities to develop their skills and experiences to help aid their university, college and/or employment applications.
In Y12 students complete work experience and are encouraged to apply for outreach programmes such as the Sutton Trust summer school and the LINACRE Institute. Our successes have seen students graduate from top universities including Cambridge and Yale.
