Legislative and Policy Update July 1, 2020 Advocacy Days Preparations Proceeding Apace! July 20 – 24 Preparations for NCAP’s biggest advocacy effort yet are on track. Our advocacy meetings will play an important role leading up to the 2021 General Assembly session. We will use them to educate and inform policy makers about our issues and give them advanced notice about the legislation the NCAP would like to see introduced. Here are more specifics: We have Zoom advocacy meetings scheduled with the following members of the General Assembly. More are in process. Scheduled meetings are as follows: Rep. Farmer Butterfield July 21 2:00, Rep Howard July 2, 11:00, Rep. Adcock July 24 11:00, Rep. Holley July 21 1:00, Rep. Insko July 20 10:00, Rep. Ross July 21 10:00, Senator Krawiec July 20 2:00, Sen. Perry July 23 3:00, Rep. Meyer July 21 9:00, Rep. Hurley July 20th at 1, Rep. Carney July 22 at 10 Senator Davis July 20 at 12, Senator Chaudhuri July 23 at 3 This is a great list of members, many of whom are chairs of important committees that need to understand our issues and whom we need to have a relationship with. These policy makers will get pharmacy related materials prior to the meetings and NCAP members will have talking points to make use of as well. This response tells us that policy makers care about pharmacy and, even more importantly, they recognize the growing power and influence of the NCAP! With this kind of response from policy makers we need to be sure to have a good one from members. Please email either myself or Cheryl Viracola at Cheryl@ncparmacists.org to let us know of your participation and if you have a preference as to the Zoom meeting or meetings you would like to participate in. We will match you up with the meeting or meetings of your choice.
