This was taken on Saturday 22nd June 2025 at the 1940s weekend.
The reason I like this photo is because it feels almost timeless with the gentleman reading and doing a crossword in his newspaper (simpler times) - whilst the classic cars against the industrial backdrop created what I felt was an interesting composition - his red shirt provided a pop of colour against the more muted tones of the cars and roller shutters.

This image captures a haunting yet powerful presence, with the dramatic lighting giving the horse statue an almost ghosty quality. I love how the darkness around it enhances the sense of mystery and history, making it feel like a tribute to the strength and spirit of mining heritage.
