L atinos and H ealth Coverage: W yoming by the Numbers L atinos1 are more likely to be uninsured than any other racial or ethnic group in the U.S. +RZHYHU +LVSDQLF IDPLOLHVœ DFFHVV WR KHDOWK LQVXUDQFH YDULHV E\ VWDWH (see F igure 1). In W yoming: ™ L atinos have inadequate access to the cur rent health coverage system. In 2008, only about one-half (55.1%) of all Latinos living in Wyoming had employersponsored health insurance, and less than one-eighth (11.4%) were covered by 0HGLFDLG RU WKH &KLOGUHQœV +HDOth Insurance Program.2 ™ As a result, L atino families are at risk for uninsurance. That year, more than one in five (22.6%) Latinos in Wyoming were uninsured, and more than one in eight (13.2%) Latino children under age 18 had no form of health coverage.3 ™ L atinos are over represented among the uninsured. Although Hispanics made up 8.1% of the total state population in 2008, they represented 13.5% of WyomingœV uninsured.4
