L atinos and H ealth Coverage: New H ampshire by the Numbers L atinos1 are more likely to be uninsured than any other racial or ethnic group in the U.S. +RZHYHU +LVSDQLF IDPLOLHVœ DFFHVV WR KHDOWK LQVXUDQFH YDULHV E\ VWDWH (see F igure 1). In New H ampshire: ™ L atinos have inadequate access to the cur rent health coverage system. In 2008, only about one-half (56.2%) of all Latinos living in New Hampshire had employersponsored health insurance, and less than one-fifth (18.6%) were covered by Medicaid or WKH &KLOGUHQœV +HDOWK ,QVXUDQFH 3URJUDP 2 ™ As a result, L atino families are at risk for uninsurance. That year, about one in four (25.2%) Latinos in New Hampshire were uninsured, and one in six (15.9%) Latino children under age 18 had no form of health coverage.3 ™ L atinos are over represented among the uninsured. Although Hispanics made up 2.3% of the total state population in 2008, they represented 5.7% of New HampshireœV uninsured.4
