According to researchers at the University of California, Davis, those creepy-crawly feelings you may experience upon seeing a bug is simply nature’s way of helping you avoid pathogens and parasites. The good news? Insect experts say that there are steps you can take to protect your home turf from disgusting bugs and other pests. “While you should not lose your healthy distaste for bugs, you can take steps to keep them out of your home,” says Daniel Perry, entomologist at

Guard doors a n d wi n d ows : Keep doors and windows sealed when they’re not in use. If you love a fresh breeze, be sure that your screen doors and windows are in tip top shape and contain no holes.
