A RUDE TRICK BEFORE THE TREAT The rain in Spain may fall on the plains, but we have snow! This is what the intersection of Manotick Main and Bridge Streets looked like on Tuesday evening as approximately 15 centimetres (six inches) fell in the Ottawa Region. At the time of going to press, more than 150 accidents had been reported in Eastern Ontario in less than 12 hours.

movies come and they go and there’s promises," he said. "But, as I said, they have talked about the possibility of doing another movie here next year. "It seems that the businesses are co-operating with the group. They’re just a little disappointed it’s going to snow; but it’ll be gone."

What really has people buzzing is the fact that extras are still being hired to show up on filming days as supporting players. " I’m in charge of casting the background performers. We need people for carnival scenes that are happening in Metcalfe," said Claudia Jurt, of Ottawa Casting.

"We need small-town types, congregation members who won't go to the carnival and then the actual people who go to the carnival and people who are part of the carnival." With just a few days left until principle photography (Monday, Nov. 3), now is the time for residents who are 18

and older to send in their applications to be extras. To do that, contact Jurt at 613-255-4796 or e-mail your headshot with contact information to ottawacasting@rogers.com. In the meantime, be on the lookout for a large demonic creature in Metcalfe. It may be out to get you.

In just a few short days, an unknown, demonic terror will be running through Metcalfe, a.k.a. Reliance, Nebraska. And it's not just because of Halloween. Metcalfe is being transformed into a 1930-40sthemed carnival town for a made-for-TV movie, called Carnies being produced for the Sci-Fi Channel in the United States. The plot centres on a carnival owner discovers a "devilish creature" that he insists is safe ... but is it? The ensuing rampage through the town leaves many dead citizens in its wake. The Royal Bank will have its signs covered — because there are no RBCs in Nebraska — and Mark Gravelle's store will be rented out for "three or four days" said Osgoode Ward Coun. Doug Thompson, whose office has been helping co-ordinate the filming. Thompson said there has

been a huge swell of support and co-operation by the residents with the production company, Canadian-based Muse Entertainment. "The residents seem to be caught up; a number of them have contacted us about being an extra in the movie," he said. "I think I put my name in there too. It’s exciting for the residents and the businesses and great exposure for the village itself. "There’s a sense of pride from the residents that Metcalfe is going to get this exposure." Carnivale Lune Bleue has been contracted for a return engagement to this area as well. Executive producer Wayne Van De Graf said he had been asked by the movie company to set up his carnival in Victoria Park for location filming. His crews were setting up through this week in the frigid temperatures. According to Thompson, Muse has already mentioned the possibility of doing another movie in the area next year.
