PPRESIDENT’S LETTER
The Northdale Civic Association’s annual membership drive begins June 1st. I want to thank all the homeowners that have always supported the NCA and call upon all residents to consider becoming members of the association. I hope you’ll make this $35.00 annual investment in your community by renewing or becoming a first-time member. It’s your home, it’s your neighborhood and it’s our hope that we can enhance and continue to build upon the great assets in Northdale. The NCA represents the community on local issues and strives to maintain property values by enforcing deed restrictions. Please note that funds can be quickly depleted when the NCA finds it necessary to take legal action for the resolution of a deed restriction violation. The NCA sent out 247 deed restriction violation letters from April, 2016 thru March, 2017. The majority of homeowners will correct a problem within a short time. Please consider what the community would look like if we did nothing.
Membership allows the civic association to continue to sponsor many community-wide, family oriented events such as Concerts in the Park, Community Garage Sales, Easter Egg Hunt, 5K Pumpkin Run, Holiday Lighting Contest, Family Fun Fest, etc. These funds also allow us to maintain the community website www.northdale.org and publish the community newsletter. If you are an NCA member, your $15.00 annual membership in the Northdale OWLS is waived. Whether you attend any, or all, of the above events, they bring positive recognition to the community. We need your financial assistance to continue offering these benefits that make Northdale special. Thank You!
The NCA annual meeting to elect its board of directors will take place at 7 P.M. on Monday, May 15th at Northdale Golf Course Clubhouse. Please attend and learn more about what is happening in your community.

The Northdale Civic Association is a volunteer organization of concerned citizens whose mission is to make Northdale a better place to live and increase property values by enforcing the deed restrictions to which each homeowner is legally subject.
WHAT IS THE NCA? DEED RESTRICTION VIOLATIONS
The NCA is also the organized voice of Northdale, and represents residents when issues affecting Northdale are raised by Hillsborough County, the State of Florida and other governing bodies.
Residents can request an investigation of deed restriction violations. Complaints need to be in writing or submitted online. The NCA conducts periodic neighborhood inspections and will act on their findings when necessary.
Forms are available in each edition of the Northdale Newsletter. There are forms online at www.northdale.org.
The NCA issues this Newsletter and organizes the following events and programs: Welcome Wagon Program; Easter Egg Hunt; Community Garage Sales; Family Fun Festival; Northdale Pumpkin Run; Holiday Decorating Contest; Meet the Candidates; and the Northdale OWLS (Older, Wiser, Lively, Seniors). Board Meetings are open to the public.
To request an investigation of a possible deed restriction, follow the instructions at www.northdale.org or, if you prefer, mail us a complaint. Print out a form online or pick one up at the UPS store or the Sheriff’s station in the BOCC building. Mail it to NCA Deed Restrictions at 3853 Northdale Blvd, #374, Tampa, FL 33624.

When a violation occurs a letter will be sent to the violating homeowner with a request to correct the problem. After a reasonale amount of time passes, and the problems persists, the coordinator may contact you with the available options. Some of these options could include legal action against the homeowners.
The NCA will not become involved in conflicts between neighbors, animal problems or landscape issues due to drought.
Annual membership is only $35. All members are eligible to run for NCA Board positions in elections held each May. Elections for those positions are made by the sitting board at the monthly board meetings. The dates of those meetings are posted in the Community Calendar.

HOW TO JOIN THE BOARD
The first thing I would like to bring to light in this article is the numerous complaints we receive from non-members. So that you are aware, we do investigate those complaints even though they are from non-members. These past two months we received complaints from those folks about such things as a neighbor’s pool pump being too loud, music coming from a certain home to be disturbing, our neighbor allows their dog to mess on our lawn and a few that I cannot write in public. I would like to ask a question to those folks about these issues; did you ever think to approach your neighbor with these concerns? I find in my years of service that a civil conversation goes a long way. Also to the non-members that issue legitimate complaints; you obviously are aware where to find the complaint form on our web site so probably you can also find the membership application. When I question a complainant about why they are not members, the response I many times hear is they want to see how their complaint is handled. Really? My dear neighbors, the more members the more enforcement we can do. Membership dues dictate our legal budget. Our experience tells us that most of our members keep lovely properties, and are caring neighbors. Look for the
membership application in the mail by June. Love to have you aboard.
Architectural Review: We periodically receive questions about architectural review. First of all, we do have a committee. Lately we have had questions on fences. Fences are not to be erected past the front of your home’s property line. If you have a golf course view property, you may have a smaller fence such as 4 feet or less on the course. Many homes have a see through or wrought iron type fence. You may not have a solid over 4 foot high fence that blocks your neighbor’s view of the course. If you are not sure please contact us. In relationship to home additions the only requirement is that your plans meet the County Code requirements. Most house paint colors are approved. The only requirement is the color be a basic color and not outlandish such as very bright red or orange. Have questions write us on the web site.
This is the perfect time of year for yard work. The landscape is blooming and it is a good time to remove or trim those overgrown plants and bushes. Also, this is a good time to take that mold and mildew off your walls and your mail box. A little bleach and water does wonders. And finally, please remove the barbeque pits and the ladders from the front of your garages. Your neighbors complain to us about it and we suggest they approach you with their concerns.
Please remember that the NCA Board meets every third Monday of the month except December. Come and hear firsthand what we do, and not from hearsay. We urge you to share your thoughts with us by coming to a meeting or even writing to us via e-mail at www.northdale.org/ at contacts.

Basic pushing and pulling movements, combined with rotation and agility exercises helps our bodies to function at their best. The MoveStrong system is used to train people of all ages and abilities. Members have described it as refreshing, fun and way more interesting than a
With the Kid Zone expansion, more children are now able to learn, grow and thrive with caring adult mentors. REAL ESTATE NEWS
Well, it’s May already and summer is right around the corner. Here are a few maintenance tip reminders for the summer season.
Air Conditioning Maintenance. May is a perfect time for a once a year maintenance check on your air conditioning system. Most AC companies will do a tune up that includes system inspection, drain line flush and thermostat calibration. This preventative maintenance will keep you running cool all summer long.
Sprinkler Adjustments. It is advisable to check your sprinkler settings an adjust for a rainier season by cutting down on the frequency of your waterings.
Pool pump adjustments. Check the timer on your pool pump. Most pools need to run for a bit longer in the summer to combat the Florida heat.

Northdale Special Tax District
NORTHDALE SPECIAL TAX DISTRICT REPORT
Hurricane season will be back shortly and it is time to review the basics for your safety. Create a plan; know your flood zone, choose a safe room, listen to weather updates, keep food supplies on hand, turn fridge and freezer to coldest temps, refill prescriptions, stock up on water, clear your yard of possible flying debris, protect your windows and doors, fill your gas tank, keep cash on hand and lastly, keep an eye on your elderly and/or disabled neighbors. Following the basics will help you survive several days without outside assistance. Store at least one gallon of water per day for each person. You can survive without food, BUT not without water.
As you are all aware the District hires off-duty deputies to patrol and monitor our community for the safety of our residents and issue speed warnings and citations when necessary. It has been brought to our attention that residents who use Northdale extension to enter and exit their neighborhoods are not adhering to the posted speed limit of 35 mph. I am sure we all agreed that speed bumps are not the solution, however after several warnings these speeders will now be given citations, which are costly and impact your auto insurance. PLEASE slow down as the extension is not a speedway and the minute or two you gain by ignoring the posted limits are a potential hazard to both drivers and pedestrians. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
As we can see, the new WaWa gas station is moving along and should be opening for business shortly. Whether you are pro or con regarding the location at our entry, they are our new neighbors so please welcome them to the community.
Please be assured that necessary improvements to the landscaping at our entry monuments are being addressed. Water supplied to these areas was limited due to the WaWa construction and is now up and running and we are looking forward to the improved landscaping and trees to be installed by the WaWa folks.
As always, the District and you, our neighbors, are all working together to maintain Northdale as a safe and desirable community in which to raise our families and enjoy our surrounding amenities. Thank you!

Northdale Special Tax District
What is the NSTD?
The Northdale Special Taxing District is a Hillsborough County dependent tax district. The District was originally set-up under a State ordinance, but in 1992 was adopted under County ordinance #92-35. The County collects the taxes for the District and provides the ordinance or regulations that give authority to the District. Funds are derived from the County non-ad valorem tax of $130 per residential unit. Residents in single family homes, along with apartments and condominiums are assessed $130. Also, all properties within Northdale boundaries including businesses and other non-profit groups are taxed based on an equitable per residential unit basis.
The District is responsible for maintaining the common areas throughout Northdale. These areas include the main entrances coming into Northdale, landscaping in common areas alongside roadways and medians, neighborhood entrances, the outer surface of the block walls and along the roadside. The District also maintains selected lakes and wetland areas along the main roadways in Northdale.
The District is governed by a Board of nine trustees who are elected by the public or appointed by the Board. Board members must be registered voters and reside in Northdale. The trustees receive no compensation for their work. The Board has hired an administrator to complete many of the day-to-day details of the district. The administrator is a sub-contracted (paid) position.
Although the District does maintain the common areas in Northdale, there are many areas that the District does not control. The District does not maintain roads, street lighting, street signs, or utility lines. Also, the District does not maintain private property or enforce deed restrictions. Deed restrictions are enforced by the Northdale Civic Association (NCA). The District and the Civic Association are two different and separate bodies. The District is a public governmental body and the Civic Association is a private association of Northdale residents. Only the Civic Association has authority to issue deed restriction warnings.
Although separate, the District and the Civic Association work to achieve the same goal of making Northdale a great place to live.

Summer Reading
Summer reading brochures will go home with Claywell students. Kids are encouraged to go to their local public library, such as Jimmie B. Keel, to check out and read those titles over the summer. Also, check out all the wonderful programs offered by the public library system this summer. Another option is to visit local bookstores, such as Barnes & Nobles which offers a reading program. MyOn will be available online all summer too! Go to www.readonmyOn.com for contests. Scholastic also has a challenge for students. We’re hoping our students read at least 1500 minutes over the summer. Mrs. Kline hopes every child at Claywell enjoys reading for pleasure and information. Have a happy summer in June & July! We will celebrate our summer readers when they return in August.
