Policy Updates Impacting Educators Teacher Evaluation: Standard Six: Contributing to the Academic Success of Students 1. The State Board is RESCINDING all waivers granted to LEAs regarding measuring student growth with the NC Final Exams or Analysis of Student Work. NC DPI shall create an implementation plan that will bring all LEAs into compliance by the 201617 school year. In other words, this will be the last year of any granted waivers. 2. The SBE approved the revised policy for the Teacher Observation Process for staff in low-performing schools. NCAE lobbied for a time frame of observations as needed within a school, and not the original quick turnaround time first suggested; as well ensuring a one-size growth plan was not needed for all staff. Growth plans will be developed based on skill needs and areas of improvement.
