Global Education – Special Presentation and Recognition North Carolina has received national recognition for the Global Framework and Blue Print for schools and LEAs. The work of integrating curriculum, language and culture in dual or immersion programs has resulted in a more rigorous curriculum and higher expectations for students, with the students rising to meet the challenges. Global education is good for all students and should be a comprehensive component of all subjects. Educators think of the NC Education Evaluation System Standard IV: 21 Century milestones and Global Awareness. NEA provides a free tool available at www.p21.org for connecting to the milestones of 21 Century and global awareness. st

The State Board of Education recognized two LEAs for their work with Global Education.

Onslow County with NCAE principal member, Jay Strope (tall educator on the back row) of Stateside Elementary School was recognized for the staff and students being Global Ready! Onslow county educators know that relationships matter as well as community partners reaching out to support the system’s global initiatives. Having Camp Lejeune as a partner and supporter of the public schools has enhanced the global awareness within schools. Teachers implementing the standards of global schools are earning badges connected to the NC Global Blue Print. EE Waddell Language Academy of Charlotte Mecklenburg and

NCAE Principal member, Felicia Eybl (standing next to Superintendent Johnson) was recognized as CMS received the

Prepared Global recognition. Superintendent Ann Clark shared that CMS had students representing 183 countries and 197 languages spoken by students and staff. Last year 1,000 students graduated with a global badge endorsement on their diploma from CMS.
