Licensure policy update: based on a one-year policy granting permits for not passing required exams The target audience includes • Educator Preparation Completers with an IPL that expires June 30, 2018 • Lateral-Entry Completers with a LE license that expires June 30, 2018 • Educator Preparation Completers with an IPL that expires June 30, 2019

Educator Preparation Completers with an IPL that expires June 30, 2020

In one month, 50 LEAS requested a grant to provide a permit for teachers to continue to teach and seven charter schools (a lower number of requests due to the fact not all teachers have to be licensed to teach in a charter school). The requests overall number 298 permits to teach. Compensation based on student performance and leadership: You may recall the legislation that created the Teacher Compensation Models and Advance Teaching Roles passed in 2016. Session Law 2018-5 Section 7.9, requires a new RPF for small LEAs with less than 4,000 students apply for this pilot due to the fact only one small LEA applied and was approved in 2017. The Teacher Compensation Models and Advanced Teaching Roles RFP will select up to four local school administrative units to participate in a pilot program to inform the transformation of North Carolina’s teacher compensation models and advanced teaching roles. NCDPI will work closely with grantees to develop advanced teaching roles and organizational models that link teacher performance and professional growth to salary increases in selected local school administrative units for classroom teachers. Current pilots include: Vance, Pitt, Washington, Charlotte, Chapel Hill and Cabarrus. The current pilots have been extended to 2023-24 but without extra funding beyond the original pilot date of 2020.

Performance and Growth Results Summary:
