The names that came to mind, I no longer speak with nor maintain a connection. Harsh? Perhaps.

On my way to work today, I tried to think of who I spent time with that condoned this behavior—the resident mock and scoff comedians, jeer and taunt quipsters. I couldn’t remember any.

I admit a certain frailty of spirit. I don’t want to hang out with downer types—no matter how canny their commentary. Their gunk rubs off, like a greasy film that takes forever to expunge. Read violent books; ride the violence in your dreams. Watch ugly programming; cast a pale veil over your world view. Listen to deft reprobates; learn to look for the dark side. Not me. Can’t go there.

Don’t Be So Cool By Ridgely Goldsborough Fred always blurts out the best comebacks. “How’s your Mom, Fred?” “Dumb as a mule and twice as stubborn.” He delights in the art of cutting others down, without discrimination. When questioned about anything, Fred spews an adverse slant. “How was your weekend, Fred?” “It came after the week, is about all I can say,” he answers. “The storm knocked out the power and if it hadn’t been for my back-up generator, the rain would’ve flooded my basement. Then our worthless quarterback almost threw the game away. That’s the worse undefeated team in history.” Always half empty. Always the hole in the donut. What causes Fred, and so many others, to revel in trash talk or witty cynicism, to laugh at someone else’s expense

to sneer at misfortune and make allknowing comments? Some people find it hip to act negative, as if the stream of digs and snide remarks props them up. Does it? Do they truly feel better? I don’t think so. A wicked irony underlines the very premise. “I put someone down, it makes me feel up.” Maybe so. Here’ the catch. When you cast aspersions, you throw your own anchor into Loneliness Sea. A fog bank blankets your heart as fast as the water engulfs the rusted metal. Disdain and contempt lead to hard lined faces and shaded eyes.Compare and despair.

I miss too many of the beautiful moments to add an unneeded extra shroud. I’m looking for comrades who celebrate victories, challenge obstacles, mourn soulfully over losses, absorb the lesson and the pain, take responsibility for all of it and move on with a smile—or at least the intention to find one as soon as possible. We drudge up enough fault in ourselves. We don’t need to cut each otherdown. It never serves. It’s not that funny. Next time those nimble words creep up your throat, ask yourself who hurts the most from their utterance. Do you really want to launch that snide remark? No one ever erected a statue to a critic. We are all meant to shine. Shine whenever you can.

Roses: A Love Story by an Anonymous Author From the book “Equality: The Quest for the Happy Marriage” by Tim Kellis Red roses were her favorites, her name was also Rose. And every year her husband sent them, tied with pretty bows. The year he died, the roses were delivered to her door. The card said, ‘Be my Valentine,’like all the years before. Each year he sent her roses, and the note would always say, ‘I love you even more this year, than last year on this day. My love for you will always grow, with every passing year.’ She knew this was the last time that the roses would appear. She thought he ordered roses in advance before this day. Her loving husband did not know that he would pass away. He always liked

to do things early, way before the time. Then, if he got too busy, everything would work out fine. She trimmed the stems, and placed them in a very special vase. Then sat the vase beside the portrait of his smiling face. She would sit for hours, in her husband’s favorite chair. While staring at his picture, and the roses sitting there. Ayear went by, and it was hard to live without her mate. With loneliness and solitude, that had become her fate. Then, the very hour, as on Valentines before, The doorbell rang, and there were roses, sitting by her door. She brought the roses in, and then just looked at them in shock. Then, went to get the telephone, to call the florist shop. The owner answered, and she asked him, if he would explain, Why would someone do this to her, causing her so much pain? ‘I know your husband passed away, more than a year ago,’ The owner said, ‘I knew you’d call, and you would want to know. The flowers you received today, were paid for in advance. Your husband always planned ahead, he left nothing to chance. There is a standing order, that I have on file down here, And he has paid, well in advance, you’ll get them every year. There also is another thing, that I think you should know, He wrote a special little card…he did this years ago. Then, should ever I find out that he’s no longer here, That’s the card…that should be sent, to you the following year.’ She thanked him and hung up the phone, her tears now flowing hard.

Her fingers shaking, as she slowly read the card. Inside the card, she saw that he had written her a note. Then, as she stared in total silence, this is what he wrote… ‘Hello my love, I know it’s been a year since I’ve been gone, I hope it hasn’t been too hard for you to overcome. I know it must be lonely, and the pain is very real. Or if it was the other way, I know how I would feel. The love we shared made everything so beautiful in life. I loved you more than words can say, you were the perfect wife. You were my friend and lover, you fulfilled my every need. I know it’s only been a year, but please try not to grieve. I want you to be happy, even when you shed your tears. This is why the roses will be sent to you for years. When you get these roses, think of all the happiness, That we had together, and how both of us were blessed. I have always loved you and I know I always will. But, my love, you must go on, you have some living still. Please…try to find happiness, while living out your days. I know it is not easy, but I hope you find some ways. The roses will come every year, and they will only stop, When your door’s not answered, when the florist stops to knock. He will come five times that day, in case you have gone out. But after his last visit, he will know without a doubt, To take the roses to the place, where I’ve instructed him. And place the roses where we are, together once again.’

Six Powerful Ways to Power up Your Attitude

by Cathi Adams

Attitude is everything in life. It’s the jump off point for success. In fact, it’s one of the most important aspects of your whole personality. If you have a positive attitude, people will notice. It opens doorways that you never thought were available before. So how do you improve your attitude? That’s exactly the question we’re going to answer in the next few seconds. Below you’ll find a list of 6 powerful ways to power up your attitude and open the way to success!

known as a sourpuss or someone who knows how to laugh and have a good time? The answer’s obvious, right? 3. Exercising on a regular basis is a great way to improve your attitude. Exercise boosts your selfconfidence, allows you to get a good night’s sleep and gives you more energy, strength and endurance.

1. Try to find the positive in everything. Even when things go terribly wrong, there is usually a silver lining. Just remember that every experience is a potential learning experience. If you approach life in this manner, you’ll be happier and have a chance to learn some valuable lessons along the way.

4. For the most part, the people you surround yourself with have a profound effect on your attitude. If you’re surrounded by people who complain constantly, you’ll soon find yourself complaining too. On the flip side, if you surround yourself with people who have a pleasant attitude and a zest for life, chances are that attitude will rub off on you.

2. Learn to laugh. People find laughter infectious. People also appreciate someone who can laugh. You increase your self-image by smiling and making the most out of life. Think about it; who do you like to hang around with more—someone who’s

5. Find time to do the things you love. In today’s society, we often speed through our days and miss out on the good things that life has to offer. It’s important to find a little bit of time each day to do something you enjoy doing. Try it! It will improve your at-

titude guaranteed. 6. Avoid things that bring you down. If the blood and mayhem on the evening news gives you nightmares, stop watching it and take in a comedic romance instead, if that’s what makes you happy. In most ways, our attitudes are a reflection of the things, people and atmospheres we surround ourselves with. All of those things are controlled by you. Learning to manage those things and improve your environment can drastically improve your attitude and increase your happiness. © 2003 – 2009 Cathi Adams Cathi Adams is the author of “Divorce Secrets: What Every Women Should Know.” This invaluable resource provides steps to ensure financial security to woman faced with the possibility of divorce.! Could Acting Your Age Be Stifling Your Potential? Unlocking Possibilities by Connecting with Your Inner Child By Shar Mohr In the movie, Big, Josh Baskin (played by Tom Hanks) makes a wish landing him in a grown up version of his body while his twelve year old mentality remains. Forced into adulthood, Josh enters the workforce. Surprisingly, the humor, honesty, and humility of his young heart thrust him up the corporate ladder to enjoy the kind of success that takes most people a lifetime. Now, I realize life isn’t a move and most people don’t work for F.A.O. Schwartz, but what kind of difference might the corporate world, or any part of the world for that matter, experience if people would lighten up and reconnect with the part of them that was once free spirited and full of fun and frivolity. I believe it can change everything. When I left my job to stay home with my children I never expected I’d work more vigorously than I ever did out in the “real world.” Not to mention, the clock no longer had a check-out option anymore. Hard work and sacrifice took on an entirely new meaning. But there was also plenty of fun to be had which no other job could ever offer. Reading books and storytelling was my favorite activity with the kids. In part because it was about the only time they were sedentary. But mostly because I knew reading with children fosters a love of reading later in life. I used ridiculous voices and over animated gestures; the sillier the better. I can only imagine what a curious observer of my eccentricity would have thought. When we ran out of books my kids liked I made up my own stories. The

kids loved my stories the best. So did I. And that’s how “it” started. Consider this quote by Angela Schwindt, “While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” Perhaps this happens because kids help us reconnect to the kid within ourselves, our “inner child.” I didn’t expect that my new “job” as a stay at home mom would reignite my ability to dream and consider new possibilities for myself along with a newfound courage to chase after those dreams. Every spare moment between diaper changes and baths I would write down my stories and dream. The antics and adventures with my children were, and continue to be, my constant inspiration; my mini muses, showing me anything is possible. My dream is to become a published author (something I otherwise would have never imagined). When was the

last time you dreamed? What is holding you back from following your dreams? Go blow some bubbles, play a hide and seek, or hula-hoop until your hips hurt. Play with your kids or borrow someone else’s (with permission, of course). Have fun and don’t worry about whose watching. Dream because you’re life will be blessed. Dream because you’ll inspire others around you to do the same and who knows what can happen then. Shar Mohr believes one of the greatest gifts a parent can offer a child is the love of reading. Her three boys, Ethan, Carter, and Gibson are her greatest inspiration for her imaginative stories and poems for young children and young adults. When she’s not writing, you’ll most likely find her slaying dragons and searching for lost treasure with her boys, husband Jason, and Sir Marmalade the Cat in their small town in rural Michigan.

Being the Village That Raises A Child by Evelyn Polk Kevin didn’t just walk across the stage and receive a degree, he walked across the stage TWICE as he received first, his Bachelors of Arts degree in Fashion Design/ Merchandising from the School of Arts & Sciences, then his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration/ Supply Chain Management from the School of Business. At the top 10% of his class, he was also inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. We were all gathered at Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA to witness Kevin receiving his two Bachelor of Arts degrees with Honors. Kevin is a former foster child I’d met during the summer before his senior year of high school while doing some work with the youth at the Continental of Omegas Boys & Girls Club in Vallejo, CA. I was told by the Director of the club that he had a kid for me—basically a good kid who was in foster care and could probably benefit from talking to me. Sharing in the laughter and picture taking

were Kevin’s foster mom, her daughter, his former high school teacher and her family, and another important member of “the village”, the Founder of the local Boys & Girls Club who had been Kevin’s mentor since he was 7 years old. It hit me-“We are the ‘village’ that’s raised a child” as tears began to well up in my eyes. They didn’t last long though because Kevin was in rare form keeping us all laughing. As we took pictures, I saw the love and pride on his mentor’s face as he embraced “our son”. We tried to pretend we didn’t see the tears on each other’s faces but as we rode in the car to the restaurant to celebratethere was no denying it- -we shared the well of emotions of being proud village parents. It is said that “Children are 40% of our population and 100% of our future.” There are so many more “Kevins” to be celebrated in our villages; and we don’t know what their destinies might be in impacting the world, nor what impact our words and actions may have in their fulfilling that destiny.

Although many may feel powerless to do anything about the rising statistics of youth in the foster care and juvenile justice systems, and the repeated cycles of physical, emotional and spiritual destruction, we must embrace our “future” genuinely and consistently. It’s very possible and necessary to make that healthy and effective connection of the hearts, even if with just ONE child/ youth. Please take an active role and be “the village” in doing something special “for a child’s heart”! Evelyn Polk, Author of “It’s Heart Work: Being The Village That Raises A Child” is a licensed Marriage, Family & Child Therapist, and the Founder/Director of For A Child’s H.E.A.R.T., Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and development of foster/ adoptive youth and their families. She is also an adoptive parent and former foster parent. For additional information visit

A Tribute to Walter Cronkite… The Best Teacher I Ever Had! by: Liz Sterling As a young broadcast journalist, I was truly lucky to garner an interview with Walter Cronkite. Just a few hours before our meeting, I glanced at his picture and thought he looked old. That momentary glance found its way into every preliminary question I asked him.” In your day,” I began a few of my leading questions, referencing his “day” in the past time and again. Unbeknownst to me, and without showing any signs of pettiness or frustration, I soon learned that Mr. Cronkite picked up on my insensitivity and decided to teach me a lesson. In hindsight, I can now see that I had pegged him as a man whose day had passed. Within a few minutes of my persistent stereo typing and narrow questioning, he felt it would be wise to show me a thing or two. “Liz,” he said, “If I were to imagine the causes you are actively involved with, I would venture to say you care about the environment and maybe the PTA and the rights of animals and the ...” and each time he pigeonholed me, I started to resent being projected upon... and then, I got it. That’s what I had done to him. My line of questioning was putting him in a box and

inhibiting our possibilities to converse in depth. Through example, he illustrated what it feels like to be stereotyped and Mr. Walter Cronkite, the consummate gentleman, conveyed this to me -- right in the heart of our interview. Once I surrendered my projection of him as an “old man” I was truly able to see him in his brilliance and to recognize that he had a heart of gold. He cared deeply about our changing world and was very concerned about how the media has morphed. He shared good news with me, and asked me to share it with you. I know he’d want you to take it to heart. Here are a few suggestions he made: 1. Educate Yourself - Don’t buy into sound bites. Journalists today do not have the time to do the research required for in depth reporting. Take time to dig in and then draw your conclusions. Don’t let anyone tell you they’ve got the scoop in 7 seconds. Do your homework, educate yourself, become an informed citizen.

3. Don’t Stereotype - Learn to listen and perceive from your heart. 4. Be Proactive - Know you can make a difference. Write your legislators. Stand up for what you believe in. Take action. Walter Cronkite brought Americans the stories that shaped our perception throughout the latter part of the 20th century. He uplifted our spirits, inspired our honor and received the praise of so many. I know his m e m o r y will live on -- in me -- forever. And if I am truly lucky, I will carry his me s s a g e s far and wide so I can honor the man who was the best teacher I ever had!And that’s the way it was!

2. Speak Up and Speak Out - it’s our right to be heard in America.

The Power of Hope by Henry J. Venter Ph.D.

We live in a worldwide society that is increasingly losing hope. The last foothold, the remaining anchor for many, was the economy -- and that has spectacularly failed over the last year. In addition, the current uncertain political system worldwide gives very little security to anyone. In light of so many things going wrong in the world, hopelessness has struck deep into the core of both young and old…and the world looks dark and bleak for many. What you need is hope!

The reason why you can have hope is that you and I are indeed part of something bigger and more substantial than what we see around us every day. You are part of an awesome and unique creation that did not materialize out of nothing. You are part of a vast creation that is constantly creating and brimming with life – there are more than 250 billion stars in the universe and about 100 billion other galaxies. Our Milky Way galaxy is but a tiny dwarf in this vast expanse.

What is hope? It’s the belief in something bigger and more substantial than merely my material surroundings and circumstances. That raises the question – are you and I part of something bigger or are we simply a passing parade and our lives prone to the whims of circumstances?

And out of this vast universe you were created!

A profound and enormously important fact scientists have discovered is that humans are created from the same material that is contained

in the stars and galaxies of the universe. You are indeed wonderfully and magnificently created out of star matter. YOU ARE CREATED WITH THE SAME UNLIMITED CREATIVE POTENTIAL CONTAINED IN THE UNIVERSE! You are created with plan and purpose! YOUR PRESENCE ON EARTH IS NOT AN ACCIDENT, NOR IS IT COINCIDENTAL. There has been intricate and special design, plan and purpose in the creation of the universe, and the same design, plan, and purpose went into creating you.

Winter 2009 / 2010 - Kandee G Enterprises

Article You have meaning and destiny in this life! And that is why you can have hope. It doesn’t matter if circumstances in your life does not always work out perfectly; it does not matter if you make some mistakes; it does not matter if everyday is not a winner… your destiny does not only hinge on your performance. There are greater plan and purpose with your life. And allowing yourself to belief that your creator sometimes carries you when you are tired opens a wellspring of hope in your life. Because there has been intricate and special design, plan and purpose for your life, you can have the hope that dark nights will end with a brilliant sunrise; dark and ominous storms will pass; a trek through a desert landscape will eventually bring you to a refreshing oasis. I know it does not change the reality of difficult times, but holding on to the hope that you will one day get through it becomes an anchor. You are not merely drifting through life, you are important enough that the one that created this vast universe will also sustain you through tough times. The other day I watched a remarkable story of hope and faith. I came across the video of Corrie ten Boom, The Hiding Place. It tells the story of a Dutch family that at the advent of WWII and Nazi invasion of Holland refused to let Jews be sent to camps in Germany. Corrie ten Boom and

her family provided shelter to fleeing Jewish refugees and helped them to escape from Holland to safety. Eventually it cost them their own freedom when she and her family were captured. During the years in prison camps she lost her father, sister and all her brothers. Before her sister died in the prison camp Corrie promised her to hold on to hope and to one day tell their story. She was miraculously released due to a clerical error just before all women of her age were put to death. Despite being alone after the war, she eventually visited 61 countries spreading their story of remarkable hope against all odds to triumph over evil. She lived to be 91 years old and over the years played a prominent role in reaching out to suffering people behind the Iron Curtain in communist Russia. In these times of looming hopelessness, not only do you need to break its vicious cycle, you need to develop a stronghold of hope. Have hope in yourself, have hope in humanity, have hope that you are not an accident or coincidental – you are special and there is a special plan for your life. When 19-year-old Chris Colfer, a community theater actor from a small town in rural California auditioned for the new hit television show Glee, he has been auditioning for roles for many years. He faithfully acted in small local town productions from the age of 9, but never landed anything big. He tried out for the role of Arty, a guitar-playing geek in a wheelchair for Glee. Colfer thought

he made a hash of the audition – he was as nervous as a newborn puppy and dropped his script all over the floor. The executive producer didn’t give him the role; instead he recognized something else in the unknown performer, something that inspired him to write a whole new character for the young actor. And that character is now immensely popular and a main part of the show. In show business this hardly ever happens. But, Colfer is special…and so are you. Don’t give up! Keep hope alive! Henry J. Venter, Ph.D., is a psychologist, speaker, and author. Visit his website, for his free newsletter and more life changing insight. His complete transformational change program “The Ultimate Success Guide: 7 Practical Steps to Change and Transform Your Life” features an extensive and step-bystep process that leads you to the life you are dreaming off.

Solving Problems Is Rewarding By Kimberley Borgens No matter what we do for a living most of us spend our waking hours at home or at work solving problems. Many of the problems we face are small; some may be large and complex and feel overwhelming. Anyway you look at it, problems are being solved daily. So how do you decide when something is a problem? And how you handle it? There are times when moments come, and everything just goes wrong. We are now challenged to get what is not working properly, fixed. Life’s problems do not exist to beat us down. They exist to help us grow into who we are meant to become. I almost never use the word problem because most people hear drama with a problem. I do know about you but all I have to do to see drama is turn on the TV to see a reality show, the news coverage or the old favorites a soap opera. I look at the challenge before me and say, “Okay what do I have to take action on to make this work?” This mindset has allowed me to find solutions instead of feeling sorry for myself with the situation. Since I cannot change what happened, I

can change how I react to it. Let me share with you a couple of things that I did to change how I reacted and took action on finding the opportunity in the challenges I’m faced with. First thing is to stop and take a deep breath. I look to see how this challenge affects me personally, my family, my business and my lifestyle. I looked to see who is involved. Who will benefit from this challenge being solved? Why is that important? This allows me to focus on what the issue is, instead of running, kicking, screaming or blaming someone else. Stopping to take a breath allows me to bring my emotions down so my brain can go to work and focus on what needs to be handled. Looking rationally at the situation and then make a plan to take the next step. Next, I look to see how soon I have to make a decision with this challenge. I ask myself if I have the flexibility to gather more information, or does a decision need to be made immediately. If I have some flexibility I will research, ask for support and see how I can shift whatever is necessary to solve the challenge before me. Asking myself questions

like, “What do I want the outcome to be? And why is that important?” will allow me to brainstorm for the best choices available. If a decision must be made quickly, my focus must be in full gear to make it happen, which usually means take another deep breath. Then, I look at the cause of the challenge to identify what may have contributed in creating the challenge. A brief glance to learn what to do differently, without getting stuck in the past. This allows me to determine the root of what caused the challenge. Why this happened or what got me in this situation to begin with. This is where I may get support from friends, family, coworkers or a boss to brainstorm on what may have caused this to prevent it from happening again in the future. Finally, I decide what I need to take action on now to correct or solve the challenge. This is the opportunity for me to do something different and create a better outcome. What is my objective? What is the outcome I am looking to create? What systems do I have to put into place to prevent this from happening again in the future? What action can I take today that will bring me closer to the result I am

looking for? Who will I ask to hold me accountable, to taking the necessary actions to solve this challenge? What I have discovered as the biggest benefit to solving problems or challenges is my attitude. If my attitude is a “why me” attitude I am not likely to get very far. If my attitude is a “why not me” attitude, I am likely to move forward faster than getting stuck in the drama. Challenges are not meant to be roadblocks, annoyance is or irritations. They really just are life happening before us. I know that facing challenges can be difficult, may feel lonely and sometimes overwhelming. And at this point, I have to discover my courage to step up and asked for support. This is where I get to adjust my attitude, be stronger and more effective at communicating with myself and others. I look at challenges and opportunities like personal training exercises. I get to exercise my skill to be stronger, more productive which become easier over time to recover from. At first your workout may appear hard, tiring and stressful. However, over time, you become stronger, smarter and recover quicker from these opportunities. So have some fun and stretch yourself to be solution oriented and have a “can do” attitude to be successful. And don’t forget to ask for help along the way.

The Journey of Life By: Tina Jessamiene Goh It’s funny how one’s life journey travels. There are ups and downs in our personal and working life. If we were to draw a graph, it would have an uncanny resemblance of the financial graph that paper investors look at! But how do we deal with such a volatile environment around ourselves? How can we avoid the pitfalls of negativity in the down trends? What do we do when we are on the up trends? There are several ways:

6.Take action on the plans…be they ‘to do’or ‘to rid of’ 7. Celebrate achievements no matter how small and also happiness to let the positive energy come through.

3. Self-talk is key. Always use positive affirmations because “Positive Affirmations are the Prescription for Success & Happiness” TJWZ

Although we do these things to even off or smooth the volatility graph, we do not want to eradicate the trends for that are what makes this life journey a special and memorable one. I leave you with wishes of Health, Wealth, Happiness and Harmony in Your Life! Success is a State of Mind, Think and Visualize Success to Develop Your State of Mind! TJWZ

4. Visualization would take to a ‘better place’ and detox the negativity of the issues/problems

“But I Could Never Sell! . .” By Bob Burg As I took my seat in the crowded airplane, the woman in the next seat over smiled. “Headed home?” she asked. I nodded. “Jupiter, Florida.” “You’re a long way from home!” she exclaimed. We were on the tarmac in Regina, Saskatchewan. “What brought you here?” I told her I’d been conducting a seminar for a direct selling organization. She wrinkled her nose. “Oh,” she pronounced, “I could never sell.”

This wasn’t the first time I’d heard this. In fact, most people not actually in sales seem to feel this way. I asked her, if she didn’t mind, how would she define “selling”? I was curious as to what it was she felt she could never do. She frowned in thought. “I don’t know,” she said after a moment. “I guess, maybe, ‘pushing things on other people.’” “Ah. Well in that case, I wouldn’t be very good at it either,” I replied. “I don’t really like it when people do that to me. Do you?”

“Not at all,” she answered promptly. “Do you buy from those people?” “No way!” she said. “Me neither.” We both smiled. After a moment, I went on. “But what if,” I paused and thought for a moment, “what if we defined selling as ‘Helping someone get something they want or need?’ What if we defined it as adding value to someone’s life? Did you know that the original Old English word sellan meant to give?” She shook her head. “I didn’t either, but I looked it up.Amazing, isn’t it?” She nodded. “What if we saw selling that way, as giving — as sharing the benefits of a product that we ourselves love, and helping others get those same benefits? If we saw it that way, do you think you’d feel it was something you might be able to do?” “If I really believed in it myself?” she said. “Well . . . definitely!” “So, maybe it isn’t that you could never sell,” I suggested, “just that you’d really need to feel you were helping someone, adding value to their life, giving value and sharing the benefits of something that you yourself truly believed in.” “Yes” she replied excitedly. “That, I could definitely do.” “Me too!” I replied. “I think just about everyone could. And that’s exactly what I was just teaching at the sales

Article conference. That’s the essence of selling.” At the end of the flight I introduced her to one of the women from the direct selling conference where I’d spoken who happened to be on the flight. As I rushed to my next gate, I left the two of them in animated conversation about the possibilities in store for this young woman in the exciting field of sales. The day after arriving home, I had another exchange about selling. At a local lunch place I often frequent, I passed by Bill, an architect and genuinely nice guy whom I see there often, and with whom I typically share cordial “How are you?” type greetings. Bill commented that he hadn’t seen me for a week. “On another speaking trip?” he surmised. Yes, I told him, I had been. “You look happy — bet you sold

a lot while you were gone!” he said with a twinkle in his eye. I laughed and said, “Of course, of course.” He shook his head and said benignly, “Sales . . . the necessary evil of business, right?” I could have launched into the same sort of explanation I’d shared with the woman on the plane, but Bill and I were just passing each other in a restaurant line. It was neither the time nor place to launch into an explanation of the benevolent nobility of the selling profession. Another time . . . Still, it’s a shame. The necessary evil of business . . . There are people who see it this way. Personally, I think of selling as the most positive aspect of business. We all have products and services that enrich our lives, that we need, want and even love. The fact is, we love to buy and we love to own — and it often takes

a sales person to educate us and help us connect our needs and desires with the benefits that those products and services provide our lives. This not only benefits us personally, it also provides the basis for a vibrant and growing free market economy. Selling is giving— giving time, education, advice, counsel, value — and the more you give, the more you receive. Knowing that, how could anyone not sell . . . and not be proud to do so? LIVING IN A TENT WITH ABUNDANCE By Linda Forsythe Yesterday, as I was watching CNN... I listened to a reporter discuss about how campsites aroundAmerica are filling up. Normally this wouldn’t be such enormous news to report during the summer months; except she went on to say that an increasingly large percentage of the inhabitants are homeless families. Families who had a history of living in nice homes, “wise” investing habits, good credit and had built up retirement funds. The camera then panned to multiple various campsites around the U.S. and I could see families living in tents and cooking over campfires. What a wake up call!!! My heart goes out to all who are experiencing times of uncertainty right now. My previous history of being homeless came about because of my bad decisions and wrong relationship choices. I had many lessons to learn in how to change my thinking and lifestyle. The lessons were painful and necessary. BUT... that doesn’t explain how some of the people who were very careful and responsible are now homeless. So how could this happen to them? I have a theory, and would love to hear your thoughts on the following:

People have been living under the delusion of certainty. Yes, I said the word “delusion”. The delusion of certainty is actually rather new this past half century. If you were to speak to people 10 years ago, (who were careful planners of their futures)... you might hear them say things like, “I have the next 30 years of my life planned out.” OR, “I have various types of insurance covering the possibility of loss.” OR, “I have an excellent credit score, so I have a cushion if I become cash strapped.” OR, “If I become laid off work, I can live off of unemployment until I find something else”. We are lulled into a sense of complacency and complacency can be deadly. Complacency can also cause the death of faith. Living in faith is a key ingredient for moving forward in our day to day lives for truly living in peace and abundance. Ask and you shall receive. (Although you can’t dictate how... let God take care of the “how”). When you have faith that your needs will be met... and then they are.... this also places us in an attitude of gratitude. When was the last time you gave thanks for the meal you were about to eat? (Or have you been living with the idea that

your daily food was something that came about because of your own works?) Our lives are and will always be uncertain and there is a multitude of teachings out there on what to do in this type of situation. And the thing is, you already know what the answer is. LOL! There’s nothing like a crisis to force you to change your thinking. There is a reason the “Golden Rule” has been called, “The Golden Rule”. Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you... is actually a rule that could cause every person on this planet to have good food and a strong roof over their heads. Instead of living in fear that you won’t have enough or worried what will happen to you the next day, start living in faith that you will be provided for and start doing for others with what you have. Allow the true river of abundance to flow through you. As you open up that portal... more abundance will flow into your life. Start also taking stock on what you do have, and be genuinely thankful for it. Maybe realizing how much worse off you would be without that “particular something or someone” could be another wakeup call. Be thankful now and you will have more and more

Winter 2009 / 2010 - Kandee G Enterprises

Article things to be thankful for everyday. Start acknowledging the blessings. We absolutely MUST get back to the basics of what our forefathers already knew in this area. It used to be that the community helped to raise a child. Neighbors knew their neighbors and were there to help in times of need. Family was there to help their own... in fact it was frowned upon if family didn’t. Many brought their parents into the home to live with them and experienced a true sense of community and love because of it. The children also benefited because of the wisdom of their grandparents. It’s interesting as I continued to watch the report on CNN that the camera settled on one family sitting around the campfire, laughing, telling stories and reading to each other. When the reporter came up

to speak with the father about how he came to be into his situation... he said the following words, “I lost my job and could no longer make payments on our home that was now worthless. I then lost my credit and became cash strapped so we sold everything we had before the bank foreclosed. One thing led to another. But, you know what? I now live in more peace than I have for many years. I have nothing else to struggle to hold onto and I’ve found my true blessings are my family. I have air in my lungs, simple, but healthy food and all my needs are met. We’ve made great friends here at the campground and we all help each other. I’m learning to live in faith and now my cup runneth over”. Sometimes change can be painful, but after the labor pains of transition is over... you may find that uncertainty is your

friend... because it taught you to start living in faith. It could also be the beginning seeds of the world coming together as family to help each other in peace. Our Spirits Are Meant to Soar by Kandee G I have been a professionally trained platform speaker for the past ten years. I have been extraordinarily blessed to have had the opportunity to speak all over this great country and in many other countries as well. I have spent the last six years primarily in the corporate sector teaching my Vision Program. I am very proud to say that my team and I are doing some amazing work, changing companies from the inside out (check out The private sector has become our primary focus. I am invited often to speak at public events, however, my commitments do not often allow me to participate. And then, every once in a while, I receive an invitation that I can’t turn down. When I was first approached by Kim-

berly West to appear at her Allow Your Spirit to Soar © Spiritual Conference on January 24, 2010, she was on the receiving end of my event inquiry. I was quickly delighted with her concept. What a great way for folks to start the year. This event is truly a gift. The day has been structured in a way for all of the information that you receive to build upon itself. In addition, (which I love) is that all speakers have been asked not to ”sell’ from the stage. I know how important it is to reinforce new information. I also know that there will be plenty of products for you to take home, IF You choose. I love this piece. It allows the speakers the freedom to do what they do best..deliver a powerful message to you, and allows you to receive that message without feeling “sold”.

This is the first in a series of conferences to be hosted by Kimberly West based on her book. Allow Your Spirit To Soar! No more Fear. No more Pain. No more Resentment. No More! Here is a snippet from Kimberly’s intro to her new book: “Through several suicide attempts, incarcerations for drinking & drugs, many 30 day treatment centers, those “other” support groups, psychologists/doctors prescribing “fix Kimberly pills”, and spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on the “human” way of trying to “get better”; on September 17, 2006, my “awakening to the light” began; hence this wonderful journey to the now. Through my own evolution and hard work (I never said it was easy), I see things so differently, forgive not only my “experiences”, but more importantly forgive myself to FINALLY Allow My Spirit to Soar! Why am I taking this leap of faith and putting myself “out there” for others to see and possibly be judged? Because it is time for me to help others heal, by providing them the tools and resources that helped me to become FREE! I so love helping others…it truly feeds my soul!” The other piece that I love about this event is Kimberly’s intention. She really does care about the people that are coming to this event. That intentionality has me sold. This is a place where Kimberly and I are kindred spirits. This prompted me to contact the other speakers and inquire why they wanted to speak at this event. Here is where I want you to know Continued on page 27 >

Events ^ Continued from page 25 how important the power of intention really is. Kimberly and her intention have attracted some incredible messengers. As I spoke to each of them, there was a reigning theme; I want to deliver a message to make a real difference and I really want to do this because of Kimberly West. Gloria Ramirez will be talking about Letting Go and Letting God. Her comments to me, “I really like to empower people with words of hope and to bring healing into the lives of others. I am honored to support Kimberly who has overcome so much.” Cynthia Segal will be talking about Living with Love, Light and Laughter, “For me, the opportunity to support Kimberly and her dream was not a decision. I am honored to be part of a day of inspiration.” Barry Gottlieb will share how to Overcome Any Obstacle, “I want to share my story in

order to assist others who may be “frozen” and unable to take that leap of faith due to their fears. Thank you Kimberly for making it possible to share my message.” Susan Somerset Webb will share Welcome to Your New Life. Her thoughts about doing this event spoke right to the hearts of the others involved, ”People everywhere are uncertain and looking for hope and peace. When Kimberly shared her vision, I knew in my heart it was where I needed to be. My responsibility is to share my story with others in the hope it will inspire them to become empowered and share that hope, peace and empowerment with others.” Tim Kellis will be speaking on Happy Relationships, “One of the things that is exciting about this day is that it is a message of transformation. For me, what needs to be done-for those that do not understand transformation-is to be able to find our/their true selves. I love working with Kimberly and a tremendous

group of egoless speakers.” Nancy Matthew’s will also be appearing, “It has been a joy and an honor for me to watch Kimberly’s journey as she uncovers and allows her spirit to soar. I am excited to be part of this wonderful event on January 24th where the gift of “Allow Your Spirit to Soar” will be shared with others so that they too can soar in all areas of their lives.” There will be a very Special Appearance from artist, Susie Q, where she will be co-creating an art piece LIVE where everyone in attendance will be given the opportunity to place a stroke of positive energy onto a black canvas. I will be sharing some of my own story and the magic of Accepting the Past. Mostly, I will be there for you, with insights and tools and that call to action to create the life that is meant for you to live. And I will be there for Kimberly West on her special mission to Allow Your Spirit To Soar.

The Second Chance Society by Lee Burt The Second Chance Society is a non-profit that assists homeless and economically struggling individuals, (who are making every effort to return to the workforce,) to overcome material barriers to employment. Since Second Chance was founded in 2001, it has assisted more than 1,400 people in their quest to attain economic selfsufficiency. Money is never given to clients, but instead the specific need for tools, uniforms, clothing, certifications or licensure are addressed and paid for on behalf of the client. Second Chance has just one paid employee, an administrative assistant, and is otherwise staffed by volunteers. Most clients are referred to Second Chance by other agencies in the community. There is an application and an interview process, which is accomplished by trained Volunteer Program Coordinators. After clients are assisted by Second Chance, they are contacted on a regular basis by other volunteers in an effort to provide moral support and encouragement, and to ensure the continued viability of Second Chance’s Hand Up Program. Here is just one of many successful client stories: Herbert was a happy man—he was married to the love of his life, he had a good job, and was well respected in the community. He was even the President of the Jaycees in his community. His world started falling apart, though, when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. He became depressed, lost his job, and committed a small crime. He was put on probation. Herbert’s wife was from Argentina and when she died; her family requested that her body be sent back to Argentina for burial. Because of his probation, Herbert was not allowed to leave the country.

He ignored the probation and flew to Argentina for the burial. For violating his parole, he was sent to prison. After leaving prison he entered a local homeless shelter. He had nothing when he arrived there except the clothes he was wearing. Herbert had no addiction problems and was quickly ready to look for a job. However, he felt that the clothes he had were not suitable to go out for an interview. He had been able to find a couple of nice sport coats in the clothing bank of the shelter he was in, but he still needed some decent pants and a couple of neckties. He was referred to SCS and his application and interview revealed a solid fit to the Second Chance’s Hand Up Program. Following his application, interview and approval, a Second Chance Volunteer Program Coordinator took him to Wal-Mart and there purchased two pairs of pants and

a couple of neckties at a total cost of $141.66. He was most appreciative. Second Chance has stayed in touch with Herbert. He reported that his first try was to call his previous employer and he was invited in for an interview. The old boss welcomed him back with open arms. He offered him $55,000 a year plus a company car. Herbert accepted the job which involved customer service work for large corporations. Herbert has always given SCS the credit for not only helping him when he needed help, but also for giving him back his selfconfidence. A little over a year after Second Chance assisted Herbert, he was invited to speak at a Second Chance Society Fellowship Dinner. His heartfelt message of gratitude that Second

How To Do, Be and Have Everything You Want By Ken Varga a school, “The A. Harry Moore School, that accepted me. My Mom noticed that I loved music, especially the Accordion. Now, if you have ever looked at accordion players, you know that they use their arms, hands and fingers, all moving together in time to the beat to make music. I heard the music I wanted to play in my head. I learned to read the notes. But to transfer that knowledge to the accordion seemed impossible. My shaking arms, hands and fingers just didn’t want to cooperate to make one sound, much less anything that resembled music. I have had an enormous amount of monetary and family success that I’ve attracted simply by envisioning the ultimate outcome, then performing the action part to make it all happen. You must learn to listen to your innerself and not listen to the negative dictates of the world around you. Life is bigger than the material picture. Life is Spirit-directed and not physically-directed, as it might seem. There is something much greater than what we can see with our eyes, hear with our ears, touch with our hands, smell with our noses, and taste with our mouth, and that something is what really counts. We all can direct our lives the way we want it to be. Whenever I started anyone of my 35 companies, I envisioned what the results would be in ten years, and what my exit strategy was going to be. But

the important thing I did was to live as if it already had happened. Let me tell you a short story. As a child I had a serious disability, and I learned how to overcome it. This disease caused my body to shake out of control. There were times I couldn’t use my hands to hold a spoon. The doctors said that they could give me various drugs to slow down the shaking, but they also slowed down my mind and my ability to think. My Mom gave me the drugs for a few days, but she could not stand the vegetable state I lived in. The doctors said that without the drugs, my Mom would have to do everything for me for the rest of my life. Imagine growing up in the 1940’s and being a young handicapped child. Back in those days if there wasn’t a school to accommodate the handicapped, you just didn’t go to school. Fortunately, I grew up in Jersey City, NJ, and there was

Sometimes it would take me an entire hour to “will” just one finger to stop shaking enough to press a single key. It was a long slow process. I would concentrate on a finger and with my mind I would will it to stop shaking. I would then go to the next finger and so forth, and I would continue to do this with the rest of my upper body. In addition to physically willing my body to obey, I would envision myself actually playing the accordion, and by the time I was nine, I accomplished it. I was able to picture myself in the future, at the age of fifteen, walking, talking and horsing around, as all teenage boys do, completely free from the shaking that racked my body. I was able to see myself a few years later as a completely normal person. That’s a part of The Secret to getting what you want. Whenever I’m asked how I knew to do this, I always say, “I simply don’t know.” To this day, I wonder where I learned that

Feature the mind could create anything it wishes. Could it have been my guide or guardian angel?

always there within each of us. Keep the following two thoughts always in your mind.

I do know that when I was seven years old, and started on my journey, there wasn’t anything I could read, or any mentors around to help me find this secret to getting I wanted.

Throughout your life, many individuals will cross your path. Stay away from those people who will be destructive to your thinking. Surround yourself by those who will be constructive by helping you be, do and have anything you want.

Nevertheless, I learned early on in my childhood that whatever you create in your mind, you could create in the physical world. The Truth is that we can create anything in life we want, but we have to create it within ourselves first and envision it actually happening, and then doing the steps necessary to physically make it happen. Throughout our lives, we are touched again and again with this simple truth. Unfortunately, for some individuals it never comes to realization, although it is

You can accomplish anything as long as you never have one shred of doubt. I have created a formula for all of you reading this book. It’s called the SMART formula. Simple ~ Meaningful ~ As if now ~ Responsible ~ Toward Simple: Why Simple? Because you will be more direct and exacting, and there is no room for confusion in your mind when it

is stated simply. The Universe will know exactly what you want because you do. Meaningful: This is important because even if you set simple, specific, measurable goals, you may not achieve those goals if they do not have a strong meaning to you. I use the word “goals”, but in essence it’s your thoughts that are the “goals”. For example, many people think in a general way that an extra $20,000 a year would be great, but to get its meaning to you ask the following questions to yourself: In what way would it be meaningful? Would it mean that you have more money to blow on things you don’t want or need anyway, or will it make a significant difference in your total life framework? Will an extra $20,000 help you find love? Will it make you more spiritual? Will it help you quit smoking? Will it mend your relationship with your mother? Many people make a mistake in thinking that making more money is the answer to everything; therefore, they set all their goals toward this end. But they very often fail to get the money they have asked for from the Universe. Why? Because they have failed to completely explain to themselves how that money will be meaningful within the big picture of their lives. As you can see, while the process of setting goals (i.e. thoughts) is simple in some respects, it does require some careful thinking. And perhaps most importantly, setting goals, needs to be done in a way that fits the entire perspective of your life. Without this, your goals may lack meaning. Thoughts and goals that lack mean-

ing are thoughts that tend NOT to materialize in real life.

destroying several million acres of forest, or by selling drugs to people who are weak and lost.

illusions. The entire Universe, at its most fundamental level, is pure Intelligence.

You should write down what you want and your goals, as if you already had them.

Goals can be achieved in responsible and irresponsible ways, but ultimately, irresponsible goals have a way of undoing their makers.

The Second Law: Reality is Vibration

For example, it is better to write—

“I make $20,000 more per year”, rather than, “I will someday make $20,000 more per year.”

Plan a time line of accomplishments for many years to come, maybe even ten to twenty years ahead.

Writing your goals in the vital and powerful present tense will energize them in a more powerful and immediate way.It will instruct your subconscious mind that this is now reality. When your subconscious mind accepts its new version of reality, it will automatically work at making this so.

You must draw up a blueprint to build your life the way you want it.

As If Now:

Responsible: Responsibility means that your goals should not be something that will cause hurt to others or the planet. It is not a good thing to become a millionaire if you do so by

There are five basic factors, fundamental laws, which make it possible for human beings to shape and manipulate the very fabric of the Universe itself. Understanding these principles will give you the kind of intellectual grounding you need to become a total success in all that you want. The First Law: The universe is Pure Mind Real, solid materials exist only as

Every speck of matter, every object in the universe is made of energy that is either vibrating very fast, very slowly,or something in between. People who hold positive and happy thoughts in their minds send that kind of vibration out into the universe, specifically, into their immediate environment. The Third Law: Every Thought is Vibration The universe will give you whatever you think about the most and whatever you feel most often. Happiness has a way of producing more happiness. Your vibrations are picked up by the rest of the universe, and you are thus supported or thwarted according to the world you create for yourself.

For every action there is an opposite reaction. No one stays happy all the time. The tendency is to be pulled back toward a state of balance. With practice, you can spend more time in the up swings of life rather than in the down swings. The Fifth Law: Action Produces Results Every action a person does produces a direct result from that action. We are always receiving something in return for every action we take. You get what you give. This is true whether that action is positive or negative. I have taught my children these Universal Laws over the years without knowing that they came to me from the Universe. Can you imagine if all parents in the world learned these secrets of how to do, be, and have everything in life they want, and then taught it to their children each day of their children’s lives? What a wonderful Universe it would be! *********************** If you own a business and you like

Success Quotes

Key Points

“If you concentrate on finding what is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul.”

Cynicism is simply not that cute. Putting others down “for sport” is in no way “sportsman-like.” And yet, people still do it. I’ve often asked myself why. Do they gain any true benefit? Is it just a bad habit? Are they that deluded or deranged?

Rabbi Harold Kushner

“Your enthusiasm will be infectious, stimulating and attractive to others. They will love you for it. They will go for you and with you.” Norman Vincent Peale

No one can achieve any great victory on the shoulders of someone else’s misfortune. We can’t find happiness through someone else’s unhappiness. It won’t work. Every time we put down someone else, by nature, we put ourselves down. We fail to respect the dignity

inherent in every human being and miss the opportunity to raise the spirits of someone else—that in turn raises our own spirits. Think celebrate, not criticize, compliment not demean. Search for a reason to say something positive and miraculously, positive will return to you. If someone is missing a smile, offer them yours. If someone needs a kind word, fill that need. It takes so little to make a big difference. Be a lighthouse not a black hole. In difficult times, remember that a smile is a gentle curve that sets a lot of things straight.
