Poppykettle Festival Kinder Day

The City of Greater Geelong invites families to join us for the launch of Geelong Children’s Week. The launch will be held at 12.00pm during GPAC’s Poppykettle Festival Kinder Day.

Celebrating 35 Years! This event celebrates the imagination, creativity and curiosity of children. Free interactive activities and A Little Bit of Blue - Little Wing Puppets theatre performance at 10am, 11am & 12.30pm. Bookings essential.

Geelong Performing Arts Centre, 50 Lt Malop St, Geelong This year, the Geelong region celebrates 12 years of Children’s Week activities across our great community. The City is proud to be a long-running supporter of the annual Children’s Week festival, which takes place every October.

Over the past decade many Geelong community organisations have joined in the festival, which focuses on the importance of children, along with celebrating their achievements and promoting every child’s right to participate in and enjoy positive childhood experiences.

Childhood is one of the most exciting and creative times in anyone’s life. Our kids are the future leaders of our community and they really appreciate the simplest things, such as playing the park, a trip to the beach, or quietly reading a book.

Children’s Week is all about celebrating childhood and ensuring our kids are safe and get the best possible start in life.It’s also about giving our children the chance to demonstrate their talents and abilities and empowering them to have a voice in the community.

The City is a big supporter of Children’s Week, and we have lots of events happening throughout our region, all of which are either free or affordable.

It’s easy to get busy with work and other commitments, so Children’s Week is the perfect time to take a breather, get your family together, and enjoy a great day out.

TUESDAY 25 OCTOBER, 10am-1pm Geelong Botanic Gardens, Eastern Park WEATHER: Event will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

SAFETY: Sunscreen and insect repellent available. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children attending Play in the Park remain the responsibility of their parents or guardians at all times. Care will be taken to provide participants with a safe environment.

LOST & FOUND CHILDREN: A lost and found station will be set up - look for the symbol on the site map.

LOST SOMETHING: All lost property will be held at Ariston House for a period following the event, after which any unclaimed items will be donated to charity.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY: Should there be a need to evacuate, it is important to listen to instructions, keep calm and follow directions of staff to the nearest exit point.

FIRST AID: First Aid officers will be stationed in the Geelong Botanic Gardens. Look for the symbol on program map. If first aid is required, please contact the nearest staff member and ask for assistance.

ACCESS: Disabled parking and ramp available and clearly signed.

PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING: Participants attending the event may be filmed, photographed and recorded for future marketing purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed please advise the person taking the photos.
