FACT on Wood Street has matinee and evening screenings.
April 12 • Mountford Hall
There was double good news for fans last year when Liverpool indie favourites, The Zutons, released their first album in 16 years, The Big Decider, then followed that up by announcing a UK tour for 2025. A string of big city dates kicks off early April in Leeds before winding up back home at the Uni’s Mountford Hall for what should be a special finale gig.

The three-day event is a great chance to watch ATP and WTA players on the grass and you might just spot a Grand Slam winner of the future!
June 26 • Hot Water Comedy Club
Scouse comedian, Adam Rowe, loves a home gig, especially if it’s a chance to try out something fresh in front of a Liverpool crowd. He’ll be at Hot Water Comedy Club in Blackstock Market doing 30-45 minutes of new material and bringing a few mates along to do some new stuff too. Line-ups are top secret so the audience won’t know who’s on until they walk on stage.
“Mostly, we try to get into the most exclusive parts of the racecourse, where the drinks are free, and you can get a sausage roll...”
LIVERPOOL’S GOT AN IMPRESSIVE TRACK RECORD FOR PRODUCING INCREDIBLE HOME-GROWN MUSIC TALENT, ONE OF THE BEST – ARGUABLY THE BEST – IN THE WORLD.
Arena and festival schedules for 2025 feature headliners like The Zutons, The Wombats and Jamie Webster, all flying the flag for the city. And, currently in the middle of a major UK tour, there are six lads from North Liverpool – Red Rum Club.
Joe “the Blow” Corby, Fran Doran, Simon Hepworth, Neil Lawson, Michael McDermott and Tom Williams have had a brilliant few years, building up a huge fanbase around the UK and US.
The band released their fourth studio album, Western Approaches, last year which broke into the UK album charts top 10, before coming home to perform at the M&S Bank Arena. They spent the summer playing gigs up and down the country, then touring with Blossoms and The Wombats.
In May they’ll have their biggest hometown date yet when they headline an outdoor concert at Aintree Racecourse, one of a series of live music events announced by The Jockey Club for Aintree and Haydock Park this summer.
Ahead of the gig on Friday May 16, The Navigator sat down with Red Rum Club to ask more about their success and how they feel about playing Aintree…
How does it feel with the show not being far away now?
Red Rum Club: Well, we’re currently in our practice room, starting to put together the show. We’ve had ideas for it, but the scale of it—being an outdoor show and a local show—feels so special. There’s a lot of romance around it. Now, the scale of the job and how special we want to make it is really hitting us. There’s a lot of hard work to be done.
You’re from Bootle, just down the road from the racecourse. How did you feel when you got the phone call saying the show was locked in?
RRC: I was shocked, to be honest, because I never thought it would be an option! My mom once told me she saw Michael Jackson at Aintree Racecourse, so it feels like big boots to fill—definitely not little boots!
Legendary artists like Tom Jones and Madness have headlined Aintree. How does it feel to add your name to that history?
RRC: Fraudulent! We’ve played the Red Rum Garden before on a National weekend. It was a small private booking, so we got a little taste of what it might be like to play our own stuff there. Now, we’re just looking forward it – it’s going to be a big show! Do you have a routine for how you handle a day at the races?
RRC: I usually go with my friend James—he’s more of a gambling man than I am, so I follow his betting trends. Mostly, we try to get into the most exclusive parts of the racecourse, where the drinks are free, and you can get a sausage roll. Or to meet one of the horses!
With your own show there, you’ll have access all areas!
RRC: I hadn’t even thought about that! That’s going to be amazing on the day.
With the Grand National at Aintree, there’ve been many famous winners over the years such as Tiger Roll and of course Red Rum - if you owned a horse, what name would you give it?
RRC: We have actually spoken about getting a horse! The opportunity arose when we were just starting out, so a bit too early really, and we didn’t get a chance to name it. Simon… Mr. Bojangles… Gerard! If you’ve got a horse called Gerard at the National – no matter how fast it is, it’ll end up favourite!
As you’re rehearsing, are there tracks you think will go down best with your hometown fans?
RRC: There are some songs about Liverpool that we’ll probably include. Our set is well-oiled and tested, so we know what gets people jumping. “Vanilla” and “Would You Rather Be Lonely” are always big ones, but we might mix things up. This time, we want to make it more theatrical - a spectacle with a storyline rather than just a gig. The biggest pressure is probably figuring out where our mums will sit! A hometown show comes with the pressure of all our
families and friends being there – the show is the easy bit as we’re putting the hard work in now, the stress is beforehand making sure everyone is in and having a good time.
For fans seeing you for the first time at Aintree, what can they expect?
RRC: Don’t expect anything—keep the bar low! (laughs) But seriously, have a drink, and the more you drink, the better we sound. We don’t like to be pigeonholed, so just come with an open mind. We’re confident in what we deliver, and we promise you’ll have a great time.
May 3-4
LIVERPOOL IS RENOWNED AROUND THE WORLD FOR ITS MUSIC, FROM THE UNRIVALLED LEGACY OF THE 60S TO A THRIVING LIVE MUSIC SCENE TODAY.
When the biggest artists tour, that incredible reputation means they’ll often have the city on their must-go list which is good news for fans.
Whether it’s outdoor and indoor festivals, intimate gigs or huge arena and stadium events, global icons or emerging local talent, Liverpool really is a music city.
2025 is shaping up to be a brilliant one, so here is The Navigator’s music calendar for the year ahead…
May 23-25
Radio 1’s flagship live music festival is coming to Sefton Park this May with more than 100,000 music fans expected to descend on south Liverpool for three days and around 100 acts. The main stage will feature artists including headliners Sam Fender, Mumford & Sons, Tom Grennan, Tom Odell, Blossoms, The Wombats, Jorja Smith and Self Esteem. There’s also a BBC Introducing stage showcasing top local talent like Jetta, Aimei and Crawlers.
Past line-ups for Sound City have included Ed Sheeran, Lizzo, Stormzy, Grimes and The 1975, as well as Liverpool’s own Red Rum Club, and this May it’s back with a new wave of talent. Fans can pick out some future greats over a packed weekend spread across venues such as Grand Central Hall, The Jacaranda, EBGBs, The Kazimier Stockroom and The Spanish Caravan. Glasgow-born singer songwriter Dylan John Thomas headlines Sunday, along with STONE, Imogen and the Knife, Rianne Downey and Manchester rock band The Guest List.
May 30-31
Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle is known as a hub for creativity, whether that’s music, arts, street art or fantastic food. At the end of May it’s home to the Baltic Weekender, which returns with new stages and venues plus a line-up of house, techno, grime, bass music and everything in between and an array of headliners combined with the top local selectors. Names already announced include Ben UFO, Horse Meat Disco, 4am Kru, Bakey and Gene on Earth.
June 19-22
Outdoor gig settings don’t come any more impressive than Liverpool’s riverfront and the four-day On The Waterfront festival returns in June. Home favourites The Wombats, headline Thursday, one of Ireland’s best-loved bands The Wolfe Tones lead a stellar Irish line-up on Friday, with Cream Classical Ibiza and a 50-piece Kaleidoscope Orchestra featuring special guests Groove Armada, Todd Terry, Seb Fontaine, Chicane, and Danny Rampling on Saturday. Closing out the event, Sunday belongs to 17-time Grammy Award winner Sting.
August 7-10
On the banks of the canal in Bootle, Salt & Tar Music Weekender keeps on getting bigger and better. After Tom Jones and Status Quo at previous festivals, this year the headliners are Billy Ocean, St Helens band The K’s, and Britpop legends Ocean Colour Scene, and there’s bound to be a strong turnout for local favourites Cast and The Real Thing. Rising talents Keyside, who recently supported Red Rum Club, have also been announced along with The Solaas who are set to make their Salt and Tar debut.
Various dates in June
It’s been quite a season for Liverpool on the pitch, and the action once the season’s over is looking just as impressive. Although Piano Man Billy Joel has had to postpone his planned Anfield gig due to health issues, there are still three massive artists who’ll be filling the stadium this June. On the 4th and 7th – that’s two dates due to phenomenal demand - it’s the Boss, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Dua Lipa has also added an extra date on her Radical Optimism tour, coming to Liverpool on June 24 & 25, and on June 28 it’s American singer-songwriter Lana del Rey.
August 21-24
Creamfields has been an unmissable event for electronic dance music fans for almost 30 years and the world class artists, sheer scale and amazing tech keep taking it up another level. Crowds heading to Daresbury this August bank holiday can look forward to a superb line-up including ANYMA, a multidisciplinary audiovisual project by Italian-American DJ and producer Matteo Milleri, David Guetta headlining the Arc Stage and Ewan McVicar headlining the new HALO stage, an outdoor arena with 360-degree video, lighting and sound.
This was all the more special as it was the third time in four years that judges have placed us at number one in this prestigious category.
A glittering ceremony in the magnificent surroundings of Liverpool Cathedral brought together nominees representing all sectors from visitor attractions, entertainment venues and experiences to restaurants, cafes and pubs.
Each year the awards recognise excellence across the city region’s tourism and hospitality industry, so to achieve a third win for 2024 is well-deserved recognition for the hard work and dedication of all of our team.
Although guest feedback regularly tells us how much they appreciate everything Titanic Hotel offers, we’re always delighted when such highly respected awards confirm that!
Our latest LCR Tourism Awards success comes after receiving Gold at the 2023 Visit England Awards for
Excellence, where we were honoured to win Large Hotel of the Year.
Alongside accolades for the hotel as a whole, the Maya Blue Wellness spa has had a double success.
It received a coveted Five Bubble rating from The Good Spa Guide, acknowledging a spa which offers “the whole package” – an uninterrupted spa journey, top-notch treatments, first-rate facilities, and fabulous customer service.
After more than 250,000 votes cast by members of the public in the Good Spa Guide Awards 2024, Maya Blue was also named Best City Spa.
Our win in this award, presented in association with ESPA, was a huge achievement for our spa team, especially as they were up against strong competition from other finalists including Dorchester Spa, Guerlain Spa at Raffles, The Bvlgari Spa and he Lanesborough Club & Spa in London.
When it comes to creating special days for couples, Titanic Hotel’s wedding coordinator Lauren Moore is our dream maker.
She loves being able to put together the perfect bespoke package for brides and grooms-to-be that not only meets all their requests but reflects their personality.
“When they come in for a viewing I show them around the venue, give them all the information and answer any questions. I’m the first person who meets them and I get to share in their excitement which is lovely”, Lauren says.
“One of the first things I ask is about their backstory because if you don’t know a couple as people you’re not going to get an understanding of what they’re looking for on their wedding day.
“They want a day that really reflects them and that’s what we always try to create.
“At Titanic we offer a lot of set packages but every wedding is so different because every couple is unique. I love getting to know them, hearing what ideas they have in mind, any colour schemes or looks, if they want something traditional or more informal, and then bringing that day to life for them which is the best part.”
Lauren can be coordinating two very different weddings on the same day at Rum Warehouse and West Bay, so she is meticulous with every detail.
“I do a final meeting with each couple about six weeks before their wedding day where we sit down and make sure everything is in their wedding pack ready to go. By then we know each other really well, they become like friends, so they can feel totally at ease.
“By the time we get to the day itself I’m confident and I have complete trust in the operational team to deliver so there’s nothing to be nervous about. The couples can just relax and enjoy every moment.”
No two weddings are ever the same at Titanic, each one is tailored to perfectly suit their couple, but they all start with one of our packages. In March this year we were thrilled to feature in Hitched’s 50 Best Wedding Packages in the UK.
We take great care to create a range of packages including venue arrangements, menu choices, accommodation and wellness options which cover every taste and budget.
And because wedding trends are constantly evolving, our team is always looking for new ways to design a big day that’s just as individual as the two people it celebrates.
Responding to emerging trends, we recently developed and introduced twilight packages, starting at around 3pm. The first, which has an Amalfi/Lake Como feel, has already proved extremely popular with couples, so much so that our team has created a new one, launching this spring, which brings more of a Balearic feel to the Rum Warehouse event space.
Wedding co-ordinator Lauren Moore helped to tailor the new package after feedback from couples.
“Increasingly we have couples saying they’re getting married abroad and just want to come home and have a party with their family and friends or they prefer something more informal rather than the traditional.
Elevate your wedding with The Unique Wedding Experience, a wedding party like no other! From £12,750, contact our wedding coordinator for more information. Call 0151 482 5783 or email weddings@titanichotelliverpool.com
“We’re partnering with The Unique Club to provide a nightclub set-up so brides and grooms can have drinks and canapes in the daytime and then go straight into the evening with a BBQ buffet and Ibiza-style DJ and lighting.
“The entertainment package also has an electric violinist so it’s just something completely different.” With a background as a professional singer/dancer, Lauren relishes the opportunity to use her creativity in a wedding setting.
“It’s exciting to be able to partner with other artists and suppliers to create a unique package that no-one
THE MEGASTARS PULL IN MULTI-THOUSAND CROWDS
AND STADIUM DATES BUT WHEN IT COMES TO LIVE MUSIC IN LIVERPOOL, THEY’RE DEFINITELY NOT THE ONLY SHOW IN TOWN.
We’ve got a brilliant circuit of mostly city centre venues which attract big name tours as well as artists breaking through so these more intimate spaces are ideal for catching grassroots talent while it’s still on the up.
On Parliament Street inside Elevator Studios, opposite Cains Brewery, Arts Bar Baltic is all about the creatives so it goes from chill place in the daytime (serving gorgeous stack sandwiches) to live music and DJs at night with one of the friendliest atmospheres you’ll find anywhere.
Still in the Baltic Triangle, on Kitchen Street like the name says, 24 Kitchen Street is an old warehouse space that’s been turned into a live music venue and club. It’s a big champion of Liverpool’s underground music scene and home to Kylie’s favourite disco night Sonic Yootha.
Club nights, festivals, gigs, screenings … you name it, District has it. On Jordan Street in the Baltic, District’s a proper creative hub at weekends – one of the annual Sound City venues - and it’s got a great outdoor space and bar for when the weather’s good enough.
You can’t move in Liverpool for reminders of the city’s music heritage and the Jac on Slater Street is one to go to if you want your live music with an impressive side of Beatles history (they were student regulars). It’s a brilliant place, especially for catching local emerging artists.
Opened in January last year inside Cains Brewery, Jacaranda Baltic is the perfect combination of venue and record store, known for its vinyl selection as well as its gigs. The basement, which holds 400, has hosted album launches and shows from artists like Kaiser Chiefs, The Libertines and Jess Glynne.
Kickstart your weekend with live music in our very own Rum Bar every Friday and Saturday. Each week we showcase the very best of Liverpool’s, and the North West’s, musical talent from 7pm-9pm accompanied by views overlooking the waters of Stanley Dock and a bountiful drinks menu.
Inside Kazimier Garden on Seel Street, a Liverpool garden bar legend in its own right, the Stockroom is a 100-capacity space with a busy eclectic live music lineup. It’s small, but that’s not a negative, it just means crowds can get nice and close to the action.
Both of these venues are on the mid-size UK tour circuit so if you want to see a band that’s not quite Arena level but beyond tiny club, check out their listings because they’re likely to be there. O2 is in town, The Olympia’s a quick bus ride out in Kensington.
If jazz is more your kind of music then Fred’s up in the Georgian Quarter is definitely one to get on your list because it has some buzzy live Hope Street Jazz nights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. It’s free to get in and the cocktails are every bit as good as the tunes.
Heebie’s has always been a rite of passage for students in Liverpool but it’s not just all about DJs and drinks offers. The live music offering is decent too, with EBGBs in the basement and the Saturday afternoon/ early evening Courtyard Sessions are especially good for catching great local artists.
WAREHOUSE LIVERPOOL
A NEW SHOW APARTMENT AT STANLEY DOCK’S LANDMARK TOBACCO WAREHOUSE
CELEBRATES LOCAL HERITAGE AND CONTEMPORARY STYLE
Located opposite the Titanic Hotel, the new waterfront neighbourhood of 550 New York warehouse-style homes is at the heart of Liverpool Docks’ waterfront regeneration.
TITANIC HOTEL GUESTS GAZING OUT ACROSS THE STILL WATERS OF STANLEY DOCK CAN’T FAIL TO BE AWESTRUCK BY ANOTHER LANDMARK BUILDING, THE MAGNIFICENT TOBACCO WAREHOUSE.
One of the most important buildings on Liverpool’s historic docks, its extraordinary architecture and quayside spot puts it at the heart of the city’s £14 billion regeneration boom, in which the historic docklands have a key role.
When it was built at the turn of the 20th century, as a tobacco warehouse and store for goods shipped from across the globe, Tobacco Warehouse became the largest brick building in the world, at an aweinspiring 14 storeys and with a floor area of more than 1.6 million sq. ft. Now meticulously restored and boldly reimagined, the iconic Grade II Listed building is being transformed into Liverpool’s hottest address, in a scheme of 550 warehouse-style duplex apartments and penthouses.
The homes’ interiors are a carefully balanced blend of Victorian industrial hallmarks such as bare-faced brickwork, huge multi-paned windows and cast-iron floor to ceiling columns with inspirational open-plan layouts and sleek luxurious contemporary kitchens and bathrooms.
Tobacco Warehouse’s residents have been witness to the exciting regeneration of this Merseyside hot spot and the wider city beyond, making it one of Europe’s most dynamic and exciting places to live, a true centre of cultural life, with Liverpool Biennial, the UK’s largest free festival of contemporary visual art, taking up a
six month residency last summer in the dock side commercial space.
Next door, the Ten Streets creative district is set to see historic industrial buildings transformed into eateries, bars and venues (joining existing residents like the Ten Streets Social and Invisible Wind Factory), and on the ever-evolving Liverpool skyline, the £500m Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock is set to be ready for the start of 2025/26 season.
There’s always a stir, then, when a new show apartment is unveiled at Tobacco Warehouse, and the latest – interior designed by home-grown talent Natalie Holden, Founder of Natalie Holden Interiors –has even had a global showcase: it was handpicked by BBC producers as the backdrop for some of last year’s Eurovision contestants’ interviews.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom 1,650 sq. ft. duplex, which offers striking views across the Stanley Dock to the Grade II* Listed Titanic Hotel, features an open-plan kitchen and dining area framed theatrically by floor-to-ceiling black pillars on its upper floor. Down the elegant stairway, lined by a metalspindled balustrade, a dramatic double-height space allows for living and entertaining on a grand scale; a huge bank of metal-framed windows allows light to pour in.
When it came to dreaming up the interiors scheme, Holden was inspired by both the building’s jawdropping Victorian architecture, its rich colours, textures and detailing, and her own childhood in the city.
“As a Liverpool local, I have driven past Tobacco Warehouse countless times, and dreamed of having the chance to design a home within it,” she says. “My team and I have paired industrial design inspiration with eclectic, contemporary furnishings and accessories, with a colour palette reflective of the building’s materials and surroundings. We’ve used a mix of heritage and earthy matt tones with finishes such as rust, ochre and teal. Luxurious materials adorn the spaces, including travertine, wood, bold velvets and textured bouclé.”
Holden has styled the upper floor to have two seating areas, with dark wood and leather vintage-style furniture, and has introduced towering modular shelving downstairs to display books, paintings and ceramics. Abstract art on the walls and huge house plants provide pops of colour and organic elements.
This multi-layered apartment has appealed to both home-hunters at Tobacco Warehouse and existing residents, who have sought Holden’s advice on how to style their own properties. It’s a testament to her success in showcasing an inviting and comfortable space for living, working, relaxing and socialising in this destination waterfront address.
The show apartment is for sale for £430,000, excluding furniture with a range of further apartments available from £275,000. For more information and to arrange a viewing visit tobaccowarehouse.co.uk or call Entwistle Green on 0151 321 0027.
