Dr. Ashley Christensen, Assistant Teaching Professor, Department of English, has a PhD in 20th Century Anglophone Literature, Media, and Culture from Florida State University. Her teaching and research interests lie in intersections between popular culture, composition, and gender studies

Benjamin Brown, Assistant Teaching Professor I teach English composition in the University Writing Program I enjoy helping students improving their writing abilities by helping them overcome diverse academic challenges.

Dr. Emily Davalos, Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor, Literature teaches multi-ethnic literature. Her research interests are culturally responsive pedagogy, decolonizing pedagogy, and community responsive pedagogy

Morgan Richardson Dietz, Assistant Teaching Professor of English, earned her Ph D in English from the University of Georgia Her research is on contemporary South Asian literature and draws on food studies and women's and gender studies.

Oscar Mancinas

My name is Oscar Mancinas, and I'll be working as a Future Faculty Fellow in the English Department. I'm a poet, fiction-writer, and organizer by trade, and I'm excited to work alongside other authors and faculty members this year at NAU while I finish my doctoral dissertation in Transborder Studies

Dr. Ray Rosas, assistant professor of English, directs the University Writing Program. He teaches and researches in the areas of writing curriculum, rhetorical genre studies, and the rhetoric of health and medicine

Scott Jarvis, Professor, English is an applied linguist who holds the position of Stoller-Grabe Endowed Distinguished Professor in Applied Linguistics/TESOL. He teaches and conducts research on crosslinguistic influence, lexical diversity, forensic linguistics, and the measurement of comprehension and other language abilities.

Dra. Evangeline Jiménez

Dra. Evangeline Jiménez (she/ella) is an Assistant Professor of Theatre History, Dramatic Criticism, and Dramatic Literature in the Department of Theatre, College of Arts & Letters. Her research interests include interdisciplinary methodologies, as well as Latinx and Indigenous texts, ethnography, and performance studies.

Dr. Samuel Mungo Professor of Practice, Music. Dr. Samuel Mungo is an award-winning opera director with experience in both the professional and academic settings A recognized expert in acting for the opera stage, his students routinely find success in young artist programs and opera companies around the world.

Dr. Tiantian Liang

Dr Tiantian Liang, Assistant Teaching Professor, teaches piano pedagogy and class piano at the Kitt School of Music. Her research interests include performing works by underrepresented composers.

School of Art + Design

Andrew Tegarden's teaching experience includes middle school art, math, and community programs in U S border states. His research focuses on engagement, curriculum, art education equity, and interpretative planning of cultural features at parks and plazas.

David Politzer, Director, School of Art + Design. Politzer makes videos, photographs and performance works that explore the relationships between consumer technology, nature, and social interactions He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally, and participated in numerous artist's residencies.

Yuanyibo (Lucas) Zhang

Yuanyibo (Lucas) Zhang, Assistant Teaching Professor, Teaching and Learning. Lucas holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.Ed. in ESL and Bilingual Education from Northern Arizona University. His teaching interests encompass teacher identity development, curriculum reform, biliteracy development, language-learning assessment, and qualitative research methods.

Dr. Heather Lindfors-Navarro, Assistant Professor, Mathematics Education, is an elementary mathematics education scholar whose work centers children’s mathematical ideas within a complex educational system, particularly Latinx and Indigenous children. She teaches and researches mathematics instruction that is responsive to children’s mathematical thinking.

Austin Guida is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling/School Counseling program. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Arizona. She has been a faculty member within the counseling program at NAU since the fall of 2022, teaching courses for school and mental health.

Evan Engle-Newman, Assistant Clinical Professor, is mental health counseling educator who specializes in working with the LGBTEQ+ population of all ages. He teaches and researches in the areas of queer studies, play therapy, vulnerability, and relational cultural theory.

Bruce Mackie, College of Engineering, Informatics, and Applied Sciences, is an Assistant Professor of Practice He will be working with the Workforce Development team after spending 35 years as an Electric Engineer for an electric utility.

Dr. Hayretdin Bahsi is an assistant professor at NAU College of Engineering, Informatics, and Applied Sciences. His teaching and research interests include applying machine learning to cyber security problems and addressing secure system development in cyber-physical systems

Ms. Katherine Carroll is a Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering department and received both her B.S. and M.Eng. here at NAU. Over the last four years she has taught a wide variety of undergraduate classes at Northern Arizona University, including Machine Design I and II, Thermal Fluids lab, Intro to Engineering Design, Computer-Aided Design, and Materials Science

Dr. Brett Windsor, Professor, Physical Therapy, is a musculoskeletal specialist He teaches in the areas of musculoskeletal practice, value-based health care and aspects of assessment and leadership

Dr Chris-Mike Agbelie, Assistant Professor, Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, is a health and rehabilitation scientist. He teaches and researches in areas of clinical epidemiology and population health, and neurotherapeutics.

Erin Van Buren, Assistant Clinical Professor in Physical Therapy at NAU Biomedical Campus, is a board-certified geriatric physical therapist. She will be active in multiple areas of the physical therapy program.

Jay McCallum, Assistant Clinical Professor, Physical Therapy has 27 years of clinical experience before transitioning to an academic role His interests include management of musculoskeletal dysfunction and persistent pain conditions as well as understanding learning and behavior change in patients.

Prior to joining Northern Arizona University as dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS), Dr. Pérez-Granados served as associate dean at California (Cal) State University, Bakersfield, and held faculty positions at Purdue University, Stanford University, and California State University (CSU), Monterey Bay.

Seonwoo (Sun) Kim (Ph D , Louisiana State University) is an assistant professor in strategic communication at the School of Communication His teaching and research focus on advertising, public relations, business analytics, and computational social science.

Dr. Kaitlyn Davis, Assistant Professor, Anthropology, is an environmental and geospatial archaeologist who values and prioritizes community-driven research. She teaches and researches in the areas of cultural resource management, public lands stewardship, frontiers and borderlands, trade and interaction, and transition in landscape use

Dr Kellam Throgmorton, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, is an archaeologist who works in the Southwest United States His research focuses on the social construction of landscape in the past, political organization, and the circulation of lithic raw materials

Dr. Kathleen Van Vlack, assistant professor in Applied Indigenous Studies. She teaches and researches in the areas of indigenous environmental issues, cultural heritage, and social impact assessment.

Ariel L. Roddy is an Assistant Professor in Criminology and Criminal Justice in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe (Ojibwe). Her research concerns women’s reentry, as well as barriers to culturally responsive treatment for Indigenous populations

Laura Rethmann, Instructor in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department. Her work centers on social movements, policing, and community safety

Dr Colleen Hackett, Assistant Professor, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice is a critical criminologist She teaches and researches the impacts of incarceration on health inequities and works with communities impacted by policing and incarceration.

Udaya Wagle

Udaya Wagle, Professor of Politics and International Affairs; Originally from Nepal, Dr Wagle is a public policy academic and researcher with a special focus on social policies, underdevelopment, and comparative studies Prior to joining NAU, he taught and held administrative positions at Western Michigan University, Marist College, and University of Massachusetts Boston.

Xi Chen, Assistant Professor PIA Dr Chen recently graduated with his Ph.D. in public administration and policy from Auburn University. His research and teaching interests focus on environmental policy, diversity, equity and inclusion, and he's also a big fan of research methods for social science.

Emily Craddock Thomas, Assistant Teaching Professor. Emily is returning to the NAU faculty having completed her Ph.D. in Counseling and School Psychology. She teaches and conducts research in the areas of mental health and interpersonal process.

Kelsie King, Instructor, Psychological Sciences is a recent NAU graduate and current Post Master's Teaching Fellow. She teaches introductory psychology courses and researches in developmental psychology.

School of School of Earth and Sustainability

Roger J. (RJ) Haro, Professor, School of Earth and Sustainability and Dean, College of Environment, Forestry and Natural Sciences. My research focused on freshwater ecosystems, benthic invertebrates and fish, and landscape ecology. My primary studies examined how landscape change affects the connectivity of freshwater ecosystems and the biological consequences of nonpoint source pollution, including mercury.

School of Forestry

Eric Olson, Assistant Professor of Practice, Eric (he/him/his) earned both his BSF and MF here at NAU in the School of Forestry. He previously worked for the U.S. Forest Service specializing in timber and silviculture across the western U.S.

Dr. Seafha Ramos (Yurok/Karuk/Chicana), Assistant Professor, School of Forestry, is a wildlife ecologist and Traditional Ecological Knowledge practitioner. She focuses on culturally sensitive wildlife research with Indigenous communities in her scientific and scholarly works.

Roger J. (RJ) Haro Eric Olson Dr, Seafha Ramos (Yurok/Karuk/Chicana)

Department of Astronomy and Planetary Sciences

Diego J. Muñoz -- Assistant Professor in Astronomy and Planetary Sciences. I work in theoretical and computational astrophysics, with a focus on models and simulations of planet formation and dynamics. Before joining NAU, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern and Cornell, and completed my PhD at Harvard.

Dr Amanda Wilson Carter is an Assistant Professor of EcoPhysiology. She researches how animals are affected by climate change across levels of biological organization.
