Investing in OUR EDUCATORS
We prioritize the personal development of our educators to provide the best learning experience possible for our students at Nativity Worcester.
A Harvard Graduate School Of Education Professional Development
In February 2024, our leadership team attended a professional development course run by the school of education at Harvard University. The purpose of this professional development was for our school to be able to use Instructional Rounds to cultivate high-quality learning in our school. Our educators in attendance left with a greater understanding of how to improve student learning outcomes, noting that it is in direct correlation with an improvement of the level of content, teachers' knowledge and skill, and student engagement. We will begin the process of fully instituting Instructional Rounds in order to get a deeper understanding of teaching and learning at Nativity Worcester. throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.

Math Empowered
This November, our Math Department Head, Dr. Dana Harthorne, enrolled in a cohort of educators to be trained in the Math Empowered Instructional Approach. Math Empowered is a New Hampshire based organization that aims to foster collaboration amongst educators to change the historic inequities in mathematics and empower all students as mathematicians. In their training, they help math teachers build “thinking classrooms.” This new concept entails creating an environment that does not make engaging tasks for students to think about, but rather to build engaged students that are willing to think about any task. Thanks to the generosity of one of our partner foundations that has asked to remain anonymous, we are able to enroll Dr. Harthorne in this program and implement this style of teaching at Nativity Worcester.
