OPENING OF THE JULIE POWER GIRLS DIVISION

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Nativity staff, alumni, families, and trustees, along with the incredible generosity of donors who have fueled our $20 million campaign, Access and Impact: The Campaign for Nativity Worcester, we were proud to open the Julie Power Girls Division on July 8th, 2024. This division now provides the first tuition-free, private education for girls in Central Massachusetts!

Today, access to a quality education for girls from under-resourced communities is one of the most pressing challenges facing young people and our society. That’s why we are thrilled to now educate both boys and girls during such a formative time in their lives. Our new co-divisional model ensures that every student experiences the best of both worlds: rigorous, single-sex academics and integrated social and extracurricular experiences. We look forward to seeing our Nativity Men and Women develop into the leaders of tomorrow!

I hope that [my sister] finds something that she really loves and starts working towards that, because that’s the one thing I was able to do here, and I hope that she gets the experience that I got.

- Alvin Tete-Djawu, Mveng Class of 2021 and brother of current student

On October 9, 2024, we marked the official opening of the Julie Power Girls Division with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the Briggs Gymnasium. We celebrated this important milestone in Nativity’s history by unveiling a plaque to honor the J.D. Power Family whose transformative gift to name the Girls Division propelled our campaign forward. We also celebrated the naming of the Esler Family Foundation lobby with Campaign Committee members, John and Jeanne Esler. John and Jeanne have been a true example of trailblazers in our donor community as the first major donor to the Campaign, ultimately serving as the catalyst gift to making the Girls Division a reality.

"Being a member of one of the first girls classes of Nativity makes me feel honored and special to have this opportunity brought to me… I want to leave a legacy here."
