The BlackPoppyRose The BlackPoppyRose is a symbol that has been created by Selena Carty Cultural & Ancestral Consultant – AfroCentric Genealogist to remember ALL African/Black people who have contributed in numerous ways towards various war efforts across the globe, since the 16th Century. Established with the aim of enlightening people of all nations, of the African/Black contribution to global war efforts, the BlackPoppyRose signifies pride, honour and glory, with the hope that future generations will be inspired by these largely untold historical legacies. England has an excellent archive of the country’s/former Empires historic achievements. These are documented and celebrated via monuments, statues and plaques, documentaries, books, articles and magazines, etc. However, there is a severe lack of representation displaying the full picture of history, including all of its contributors. We deliver: Family Legacies searches/support & Workshops, Talks, School Assemblies, Early Years/School/Young people/Adults Workshops, Workshops for children/Adults with disabilities, Talks within Housing Associations/Groups/Associations/Businesses.

African/Black People have consistently contributed to civilisations. We currently face warfare under nine areas which are represented by the BlackPoppyRose. These are: Economics, Education, Entertainment, Labour, Law, Politics, Religion, Sex, War/Counter War. Through the BlackPoppyRose, we aim to teach on these nine areas and redress the lack of awareness in our communities. Our Aims: To make the BlackPoppyRose our symbol of Remembrance world-wide.  To understand that throughout our history we have been displaced over many generations. Our memories, pain and loss are universal.  To preserve our historical narratives: Stories, pictures, clothing, memorabilia, cultural practices, burial places  Promoting & Highlighting the African/Black/Caribbean/Pacific Islanders contributions to the various war efforts.  Establish a Remembrance Day/s, & Monuments to remember our ancestors Events & Plans  Remembrance Event: Wednesday 2nd November 2016 with Nottingham Black Archives NOTTINGHAM  Remembrance Event: Saturday 5th November 2016 at Ankh Well Being Centre LONDON  Remembrance Event: Wednesday 9th November 2016 at Roscoe Methodist Church LEEDS  Remembrance Event: Friday 11th November 2016 at the Black Cultural Archives LONDON  Remembrance Event: Saturday 12th November 2016 at the African Caribbean Centre Bute Town, CARDIFF  Remembrance Event: Monday 14th November 2016 at School of Oriental & African Studies LONDON  Remembrance Event: Friday 18th November 2016 at Croydon BME Forum CROYDON  Laying 10 BlackPoppyRose wreaths Sunday 13th November 2016 up and down the country in honour of the fallen African/Black/Caribbean/Pacific Islanders contributions to WWI: London, Birmingham, Leicester, Glasgow, Leeds, Nottingham, Luton more locations to confirm  6th December 2016 - Screening the Documentary MUTINY with Sweet Patootee (98th year Anniversary)  Working with the Sierra Leonean High Commissioner on expanding the reach of BlackPoppyRose
