“The Thousand Islands”, acclaimed landscape photographer George Fischer’s latest book, injects new dimensions into the region. Straddling southeastern Ontario in Canada and northern New York in the U.S., the area has been a recreational playground since the 19th century.
“I am impressed by George’s skill in capturing the true spirit of this exciting vacation paradise,” says Gary DeYoung, director of the Thousand Islands International Tourism Council. “Through engaging anecdotes and dynamic images, it tells the story of a unique destination winding along one of the world’s most peaceful bilateral borders.”
Fischer’s imagery brings to life waterfront towns that vibrate with music, theatre, dining and shopping. He records the rich history in memorable inns, B&Bs and castles, and catches visitors revelling in nature.
Lively photographs illustrate the riveting history of castles to the fun and frolic in today’s cottages, campgrounds and parks. Fischer captures the soul for all seasons.
