Over the past 132 years, we’ve sent our scientists, storytellers, and adventurers across continents and into remote cultures, down to the oceans’ depths and up the highest mountains in an effort to better understand our planet. Our travel program grew from this legacy as a way to invite others to explore—to encounter the wonders of the world up close, in depth, right at the source, and to be transformed by the experience.

GET TO KNOW SOME OF OUR CEOS Each National Geographic Journeys trip is led by a Chief Experience Officer, or CEO—your greatest resource on your trip. These knowledgeable, passionate individuals share insights on local traditions, connect you with interesting people wherever you go, and offer recommendations for restaurants or activities to do in your free time. Meet a few of our talented CEOs below. L I N D S AY P. , U. S.

One of my favorite parts of leading trips in North America is taking people to the Grand Canyon; I get to experience their first sighting of its amazing geological layers and sheer natural beauty. Then we all go behind the scenes and have a local expert explain the history and the detail of this magnificent wonder. I get excited each time we have the unique opportunity to speak to someone who studies the background and details of our amazing National Geographic Journeys destinations.

As a local who loves food, cultures, and meeting people, I see that many tourists get stuck in the touristy areas, and I love getting the opportunity to show people the real Hanoi. I like to take travelers to secret corners, small alleys, and beautiful places. I like to unveil secret street food spots with great opportunities to photograph the daily lives of Hanoians and taste amazing local foods. Or, I like to take travelers to do tai chi with local people in the early morning. I’m proud to be a part of this beautiful city and I love having a chance to show people the real Hanoi.

DA R L I N GTO N R . , B O T S WA N A I come from such a diverse continent, and taking travelers through it all is enriching for the mind and soul. We get to traverse the oldest desert in the world, the Namib; walk through the jungles of the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world; and watch hundreds of elephants drinking in Hwange National Park. What puts the icing on the cake is our amazingly rich culture, as well as the opportunity to share it while sitting around a campfire with a beautiful night sky above us. I love to turn some of the stories travelers read into reality by simply sharing this beautiful continent with them. I am “proudly African,” as we say.
