7. Check the condition of the tile and glue down lifting edges if needed (see tile information below).

PAINT SYSTEM INFORMATION

The Fitness Court® equipment is “powder coated”. The coating is baked onto bare steel and aluminum that has been specially cleaned and prepared for the powder coating and curing process Care must be taken to prevent damage to the paint during installation The coating is not easily damaged but can be scratched and can be damaged if the metal is deformed. If the coating is damaged during installation or during use, the following repair recommendations are provided to restore the coating and prevent corrosion of uncoated steel.

PAINT REPAIR PROCEDURE

1 Remove all loose and flaking coatings from the damaged area with a wire brush or putty knife Scrubbing the surface with sandpaper can remove the more stubborn chipped powder coating Fine-grit sandpaper is recommended, as coarse-grit paper could leave noticeable scratches on the surface

2 Grind repair area with a power hand grinder or wire brush to bare metal Grinding will result in a smooth, even surface that is ready for touch up. Be sure to remove any dust that results from the grinding process prior to applying the touch-up coating.

3. Tape off the area to be repaired. The taped off area should include a margin of “good” coating (don’t put the tape too close to the bare metal) Use a high-grade tape to prevent the adhesive material from sticking to the surface when removed

4. A zinc-rich primer should be applied prior to the top-coat touch-up material. It is not mandatory but is highly recommended The primer coating should be applied with a brush Apply in thin layers until you have covered the bare metal completely and achieved sufficient film thickness

5 Apply color match spray top-coat (provided in the Maintenance Kit) that matches the original color Be sure that any prior coatings have completely dried before applying the color match spray touch up.

(Touch up paint is provided with every Fitness Court® Additional paint is also available for purchase from NFC )

Fitness Court® CLEANING/CARE

1. General Clean Up

a Clean debris off the Fitness Court® (leaves, sticks, etc ) seasonally as required, utilizing a leaf blower or other method.

b. More frequent cleaning may be required depending upon use and site conditions. .

2. Power Washing the Fitness Court®

a Use extreme caution when power washing any aspect of the Fitness Court® Power washing can cause more damage if the spray nozzle is set too high resulting in damaged flooring and graphics Always start with a low setting and clean off the surface of the flooring. Avoid power washing any existing wall or vinyl graphics.

b. Any dirt or marks not removed by pressure washing may be removed by using a soft to medium scrub brush and mild detergent (ie Dawn) or other waterless car cleaners common in the detailing industry Apply cleaner to the area and follow manufacturer instructions remembering to always test a small area first

3. Cleaning the Tile Flooring, Pylo Box and Bend Station Rubber Tops

a. The flooring, plyobox tops, and bend station cushions can be cleaned using a mild detergent (ie Dawn) which will help remove grease, sap and similar stains. A soft to medium bristle scrub brush or similar should be used to remove stains and clean the area where required. Avoid using any hard bristle brush that will damage the surface finish and tile

4. Removing Sap, Gum and Similar Substances

a. To avoid damage to surfaces, do not scrape using a razor blade. Rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer or 3M Citrus Base Cleaner should work sufficiently to safely remove sap, gum, oil, tar and other substances from the tile flooring and/or vinyl graphics. Avoid any harsh chemical, as they may melt the rubber tile or laminate. In addition, these cleaners can deteriorate the EPDM and aliphatic binders in the floor tile. If scraping is absolutely necessary, use a plastic scraper and proceed with caution as to not damage the surface

5.1. Graffiti, Permanent Markers, and Spray Paint from Powder Coated Surfaces

a. Rubbing Alcohol: 99% isopropyl or 99% denatured alcohol is recommended. Place a few drops on a rag and rub the spot until the paint dissolves For larger areas, dip a rag into the rubbing alcohol and rub the rag over the area until the paint is removed. You can also use white vinegar, water and a few drops of dish soap and apply in the same method as the rubbing alcohol Once the paint is lifted, rinse off the area to remove all remaining solution Note: This process may take some time to fully dissolve/remove the paint Patience is key when working to remove graffiti or spray paint

b Goo Gone, Goof Off Anti Graffiti Removal Spray and Similar Products: Similar application method as the rubbing alcohol. Use a saturated cloth rag to wipe, dissolve and wipe away paint. Once paint is removed, rinse all areas thoroughly to ensure all solutions have been removed from the surface. Note: This process may take some time to fully

dissolve/remove the paint Patience is key when working to remove graffiti or spray paint

c Keep in mind that there are many types of graffiti and often even after the best efforts cleaning there may still be ghosting

5.2 Graffiti, Permanent Markers, and Spray Paint from Tile Floor

a To clean your rubber floor, use a neutral, non-acidic rubber floor cleaner by Rubber Flooring Inc, Diversey, or Hillyard. Rubber can be sensitive, so you need to use a pH-neutral cleaner with a soft bristle hand brush

b Isopropyl or denatured alcohol is generally considered safe with plastics and rubber materials

c Alway test a small area prior to application

5.3 Graffiti, Permanent Markers, and Spray Paint from Laminated 3M Graphics

a Always use the least aggressive cleaning method that provides satisfactory results

b. Do not use any abrasive cleaning tools or abrasive cleaners.

c Old and/or thicker stains may require longer soaking time or reapplication of the cleaner

d Ballpoint pen : ink- dry cloth, detergent & water or 3M Citrus Based Cleaner

e Crayon : dry cloth, isopropyl alcohol or household cleaner

f. Grease : dry cloth, isopropyl alcohol or household cleaner.

g. Lipstick : dry cloth, isopropyl alcohol or household cleaner.

h. Paint : dry cloth, 3M Citrus Based Cleaner.

i Permanent Marker : dry cloth, isopropyl alcohol, household cleaner or 3M Citrus Based Cleaner

6. Repairing Vinyl Graphics

a Over time, if the vinyl graphic edges begin to lift or separate from the metal panels, they can be reapplied using 3M Primer and 3M Edge Sealer First, clean off any dirt or other debris that may have gathered under the edge of the vinyl Apply a light coat of the 3M primer to the exposed area and let dry Be sure the primed surface remains free from contaminants prior to applying the vinyl. Gently but firmly reapply lifted graphics to the primed surface.. Make sure to apply firm pressure along the surface of vinyl. Once the graphic is reapplied, along the edge in a smooth continuous motion, apply the 3M Edge Sealer Make sure the entire edge is covered and there are no gaps Let the edge sealer dry

7. Vinyl Graphic Replacement

a Over time, you may find your vinyl graphics may need replacing In lieu of any damage we recommend new graphics every 3-5 years depending on your climate All existing vinyl graphics should be removed from the existing Fitness Court® prior to installation of new vinyl In addition, all adhesive should also be removed and the entire surface cleaned per 3M guidelines. The new vinyl graphics should be applied using the NFC Graphics Alignment Guide and 3M guidelines. The new graphics will need to be trimmed around the existing wall brackets and hardware as well as tucked underneath the existing equipment.

8. Bend Station Cushion Replacement

a. Over time and usage the Bend Station Cushions may need replacing. The National Fitness Campaign has upgraded our bend station cushion design in the last few years proving to increase the life expectancy of the cushion. See Appendix A for installation instructions for replacing your Bend Station Cushions.

9. Lifting or Replacing Tile / Border Tile

a Periodically inspect the Fitness Court® to ensure that all tile is correctly adhered to the concrete surface to avoid a tripping hazard

b If any floor or border tiles are loose they can be reattached using the following steps

i Lift the ledge of the loose tile and clean all debris from the tile and concrete Any remaining adhesive will need to be removed on both the tile and concrete.

ii. Once debris is removed clean off tile and concrete (dry vac is recommended).

iii. Using Loctite PL Extreme (available at Home Depot) place a tab of the adhesive on each of the the feet of the floor tile and generously along the interior of the border tile

iv Press the tile back into place

v Secure with weight for 24 hours until adhesive is dry May take longer if the temperature is cold

vi. For best results temperatures should stay above 50 degrees for the complete 24 hour cure time.

10. Replacing Floor Graphics

A Using a pressure washer - turn up the pressure just enough to help remove the old painted floor graphics

B Additional scrubbing and cleaning may also be required to remove older paint

C. Apply new stencils.

D. Using a soft bristle paint brush apply 3 coats of Sherwin Williams Hotline TM 2152 Paint

E. Once dry remove stencils.

F Do not allow anyone to walk across the paint until it is dry (30 to 60 minutes minimum)

11. Shade Structure Care

A. If you are prone to snow fall in your area, remove the fabric shade from the shade structure. This is especially important in areas where snow fall/load will exceed 5lbs per sq ft

B Remove your fabric shade from the shade structure where wind speeds will reach 115 or higher

C At all times wrap your shade fabric with care to avoid damage

ADDITIONAL CARE TOPICS

A. It is advised that during high winds all rings be placed on the appropriate ring holders. This is to increase public safety and to prevent possible damage to the vinyl graphics and/or the powder coating.
