My softness and slight erotic style of creating is rooted from my love for romanticism and poetry. I believe that any sort of creation is rooted from the passion we feel towards our subjects of inspiration.

With a passion for the arts and stories, I like to draw my inspiration from my perspective of the concepts and stories built by other people. After all, New perspectives are the mothers to innovative ideas and creative solutions.

My passions drive me to not only romanticize my ideas but also bring depth to my concepts, products and solutions.

Night Blossom

Brief : A Brand was to be thoroghly studied in terms of silhouettes, concepts and products. A chosen range of products was then designed and developed on a concept that resonates with the brand’s style language.

For this project, I decided to conceptualise a Bra and Panty Range for the Brand, Marks & Spencer. The brand and it’s clients were studied and analysed closely to create the concept, Night Blossom. The concept was then further developed to create the range with the technical details and specifications in mind.

Note : This project was also featured on Abode Stock’s official Behance profile as apart of their Trending Spring Summer Moodboards in 2020.

Chosen Brand : Marks & Spencer was the brand chosen as the subject of study for this project. It’s wide clientele and exquiste designs make it an excellent choice for studying and analysing their design language and products. Though an International Brand, it is widely available in India which made In-store visits possible for a closer study of the brand.

Brand Study : About Marks and Spencer : Marks And Spencer is a British value retailer which also focuses on their own label businesses including Food, Clothing and Home. They have stores all over the UK and internationally, in 63 countries as, both, physical and online stores.

M&S have had their own Lingerie lines since 1947. Their lingerie lines have always been elegant and floral. The brand has experimented with prints and sheer fabrics in the past few years. Their target market, in India, is mainly the upper middle class and upper classes. They cater to the needs.

This is a brand which is in touch with the needs of its consumers and makes sure to provide for them Some keywords associated with this brand are: Stylish Playful Strong Reach

M&S treats their lingerie range like any other outerwear range, providing the best of lingerie in the finest of materials to it’s loyal customers. In the lingerie section, the brand offers options in most types of bras, knickers and even lounge wear.

M&S experiments with minimalism and floral prints in their clothing and lingerie. There is a strong presence of floral elements in their branding, along with subtle and neutral colors.

The design approach of this brand is elegant and simplistic, in all aspects. Hence, making it a symbol of sophistication in the Indian Market and Global Market.

Product Research Summary Marks & Spencer Lingerie is one of a kind. The brand caters to one of the largest global markets and still manages to satisfy the needs of their clients. One can find lingerie that not only looks gorgeous but also serves function. Careful Construction, skillfully sourced materials and brilliant use of aesthetic detials make the M&S Lingerie a global favourite and a dependable Lingerie Brand.

Inspiration & Concept : As the name of the range suggests, the inspiration for this range comes from Night Blooming or Evening Blooming flowers. The concept revolves around the beauty of these flowers blooming once the sun has set, symbolizing the blossom of sexuality of the night.

It revolves around how these flowers bring about heavenly fragrance to the night, adding a certain beauty and elegance to the night.

Odette For Eberjey

Brief : A Brand was to be thoroghly studied in terms of silhouettes, concepts and products. A chosen range of products was then designed and developed on a concept that resonates with the brand’s style language.

For this project, I decided to conceptualise a Bralette and Panty Range for the Brand, Eberjey. The brand and it’s clients were studied and analysed closely to create the concept, Odette. Chosen Brand : Eberjey is an American lingerie and clothing brand, famous especially for their pajama sets. This Miami-based brand has cultivated a deep emphasis on comfort and the influence of softness, self-care and natural beauty. This very modern perspective of the brand towards innerwear made it an interesting subject of research.

Brand Study : About Eberjey : This Miami-based brand has cultivated a deep emphasis on comfort and the influence of softness, self-care and natural beauty. Eberjey is pioneering a modern vision of lingerie and sleepwear.

Alejandrina Mejia and Mariela Rovito created the brand in 1996 to eventually create lingerie that allows women to be themselves and interact with their sensuality.

Eberjey believes in the power of softness. At the heart of any design lies the lifecycle of rest and relaxation. Eberjey is committed to providing wonderfully feminine lines, using ultra-comfortable materials, including a profusion of sheer fabrics, frills and airy lace.

It’s all easy to wear, easy to pack, and easy to gift. Each collection has a deeper emotional theme. It hits the perfect intersection, where comfort meets flirtiness with its line that consists of anything for luxury lounging that you might like.

Joy, consciousness, elegance, softness and honesty are the central pillars of their philosophy of design

The brand mostly experiments with womenswear clothing. They offer product lines in Lingerie, Loungewear, Nightwear, Swimwear, Beachwear, Resortwear and Daily wear lingerie. With a premium price range, the brand has a limited number of competitors for what they are offering to their their clientele.

The brand believes in slow living and thus offers it’s products in a color palette that lasts through seasons. Their vision of making women believe in their Authentic Expression of self and sensuality makes them extremely unique. Eberjey is all about flattering, feel-good lingerie. Their designs strike the perfect balance between comfort and femininity.

Odette For Eberjey DESIGN PROCESS

Inspiration : The inspiration for this collection is the Swan Queen, Odette from the ballet, ‘Swan Lake.’ This ballet was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1875–76 and is very popular today. The inspiration is taken from Odette’s noble, innocent and simple nature.

Concept :

The Millenial Swan Princess The story behind the inspiration, Swan Lake, is about a Prince who falls in love with a princess who is cursed to turn into a swan inthe daytime. It is a story full of confusion, forgiveness, and a happy ending .

Odette exudes an extraordinary grace and romance. She yearns for love with strength. She makes sure to own her space when she turns to her human form at midnight.

The Theme revolves around how Odette would present herself in today’s modern world. It is about a modern day Swan Princess, who, like Odette, enjoys a luxurious, simple and elegant style. As a Modern Woman of the 21st centuary, she holds simplicity in high regards.

To her, luxury lies in minimalism and comfort. This lingerie collection focuses on romantic, comfortable and simple lingerie for daily wear. It provides her with easy movement under her garments in her fast moving life. As the day unwinds, the very lingerie can also be a part of her loungewear.

Mood Board :

Color Palette : Eberjey keeps their color palette simple and adaptable with clothing. The colors are usually pastel and muted for sleepwear as well as lingerie. This neutral and classic palette allows them to be flexible throughout seasons.

Though their designs mainly come in a soft palette of pastel shades, Eberjey also ups the seduction factor with deep blacks, dark blues and crimson.

For this concept story, Color palette is romantic. The pastel colors are derived from those of romantic skies which Odette looks at as she waits to turn into a human as the sun sets.

Alongside the palette are the pantone cards corresponding to the palette.

Sensual Sipping

Brief : A Creative Lingerie project where a concept story was developed with a focus on Design Process and Story Development.

The aim of the project was to understand the variety of themes/sories that can be developed to create a Lingerie/Sleepwear collection for the market. A client profile was also developed for the project.

The range developed here is a Nightwear Range for Young Women. The range captures the essence of the theme to bring about a sense of sensuality in the wear.

Inspiration & Concept : The concept, ‘Sensual Sipping’, is the representation of the luxurious and lavish life that Daisy Buchanan enjoys when she sips tea whilst waiting to see Jay Gatsby in the novel ‘ THE GREAT GATSBY ’ by F.Scott Fitzgerald.

In the book, the character of Daisy is associated with a lot of romance, innocence, elegance, purity and subtlness. She is warm, gorgeous to look at, has a sensual way of talking and is extremely sophisticated.

Daisy is the Angel on Earth living a lavish lifestyle, routinely linked with pastel colors and especially white. She appears pure in the land of cheats and liars but Daisy is also one of those women who loves to enjoy the benefits she receives to deal with her problems.

This theme portrays the Daisy Buchanan Jay Gatsby is getting to know. A lifeform full of innocence and purity. beautiful like delicate tea blooming in a pot. With every sip Jay takes, he feels the beauty, warmth and elegance he sees in Daisy.

The feeling of this sensual sipping is what this theme portrays

Color Palette : Nothing could be as soft and as luxurious as Rocco paintings. To resonate the mood of the concept, the color palette is inspired by soft colors seen in the very romantic Rocco Paintings.

Trend Board : Vintage-style lingerie and Boudoir Nightwear have been in trend for the season. The main features of this trend are lace work, silken fabrics, sheer fabric and heavy embroidery work in metallic tones.

Client Profile : The Client for this Nightwear Range is an elegant young lady who enjoys going to Cocktail Parties. She has a luxurious lifestyle and like to dress-up from time to time.

Her appreciation for the classical arts often draws her to products in a romantic color palette. Essentially, she is an old-school romantic at heart and loves her flowers, poetry and vintage romantic movies.

The modern world that she lives in has made her so confident of herself that one will often find her following the Trend of wearing Innerwear as Outerwear. She is stylish, glamourous and confident.

Brief : A Styling Project where a Lifestyle Brand was to be studied for it’s style language. The products of the brand were then to be styled and utilised to create a styling story.

The Brand selected for study and styling is Estée Lauder, a luxury make-up and Skincare brand. A concept was then created to resonate with the Brand’s Style Language and Philosophy. Appropriate props and equipment were utilised for this project.

Chosen Brand : Estée Lauder Companies, Inc. is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of skin care, cosmetics, perfume and hair care products. The brand is elegant, simplistic and feminine. The aesthetic appeal of their products makes it easier to work with minimalistic styling.

Inspiration : The inspiration for this creative brief is Quarantine Self-care and Style. The inspiration comes from the many influencers and magazines who, during the lockdown, were experimenting with indoor and at-home photoshoots with simple props with themes of self-care and luxury

Philautia The theme of the visual story, named ‘Philautia,’ literally translates to ‘love of the Self’ from Greek. It is one of the nine Ancient Greek words for love.

Co-vid brought the practice of washing hands to another level. This very practice brings a sense of self-care to a person. During the lockdown, several of us came to a realisation that self-care is a form of showing love to ourselves.

Philautia is a story of a young woman who has recently learnt about the beauty of self-reliance and is slowly falling in love with herself. She has reconnected with herself owing to the time she saves in not being physically social.

This young feminist likes to spend her free time reading travel magazines and dressing up. Estée Lauder, being a sophisticated feminist brand, is her go-to.

She seeks a deep understanding of her needs and desires (like the brand intends for their customer).

This about the Quarantined Estée Lauder girl blossoming into an independent Estée Lauder woman. We see sensuality, sophistication and ambition in not only her but also the following styled shots.

In this story, there are two flat lays and three modelled looks, focused around Estée Lauder’s philosophy.

Mood Board : The mood of the story revolves around self-care and feeling good about oneself even through tough times like a pandemic. It is all about comfort, self-love and self-indulgence. Finding luxury, for oneself during the toughest of times.

Meadows of Mine

Brief : A Dyeing and Fashion Illustration Project where Dyeing techhniques were experimented with and conceptualised into an Apparel Range.

A simple Concept story was created around the Developed Swatches. The swatches were Hand-dyed using Natural colorants/dyes found at home.

Essentially, This is a womenswear project which incorporates hand-dyed fabrics.

Inspiration & Concept : Sustainability is a big issue today. Being environment-friendly is increasingly being encouraged amongst people of all age groups. All over the world, people are coming together to keep our planet green and healthy.

With the rise of popular aesthetics, Cottagecore and Hippie, this collection takes inspiration from their core concepts of feeling close to nature and being carefree. This collection, too, aims to make sustainable dyeing a regular practise.

‘Meadows of Mine’ is a collection of naturally tie-dyed cotton garments for those who want to be environment-friendly and fashionable.

The fabric for these garments is dyed with natural materials like Butterfly Pea Flowers and Mader root. The garments are ethically made for the young and restless minds trying to save the planet. Being dyed with natural materials, it brings one close to nature.

The silhouettes of the garments are mostly loose and simple in construction. This collection is for women’s casualwear with a touch of bohemia.

Brief : A Creative Lingerie project where a research was conducted to study and analyse the problems faced by people in regard to Intimate Apparel.

An initial concept/vision was created in order to direct the research towards durable intimate apparels, which was later developed further in the design process to conceptualise product range.

The result of the Research and Design Concept was a Utilitarian Bra and Panty range which focuses on the use of sustainable materials that are also performance fabrics.

Vision Board : The vision of this project is to create a product range of Intimate Apparel that lasts longer and is safer for the planet.

A product range that works with science and nature to bring comfort and feeling of longetivity to the wearer while also saving on unnecessary expenditure. This range is all about the Durability of Intimate-wear.

Client Study : Lingerie or Intimate apparel goes through the maximum usage and washing. They are essential to our lifestyle and the clothing we wear. Our intimate apparel not only helps keep the genital area clean and protected but also serves as a protective layer between you and your outerwear.

There is rarely a day where we skip the intimates. We wear them every day, which also means that these garments undergo mechanical and chemical stress more than anything else in our closet. Yet, we spend a ton of money on these garments only to watch them breakdown. This is why lingerie needs to become more durable.

Durable Lingerie or Longer Lasting Lingerie can help save money, continuous running of factories and a lot a of shopping trips. The more lingerie/products we buy, we only spend money on something that cause damage to the Earth.

How might we introduce sustainable and durable Intimate Apparel for Indian the mass market in order to save the planet and bring comfort to the consumers simultaneously.

Defining The Problem Statement :

According to our survey respondents, Easy-wash, Breathability and Stain-resistant fabrics could help with the issue especially if it is affordable.

“

A whopping 80% of the respondents found underwear staining to affect the durability of their products. It has affected the budget that is spent on their product.

Most of the respondents were confident that longer lasting or durable lingerie would make significant difference to their lives. The main issues that affect the durability of the products are Underwear Staining and damage due to wear in Bras.

Research Insights : Sustainable fashion and Slow Living are not just superficial trends that people are following blindly.

Garment Manufacturing units and the textile industry have a significant contribution to global warming.

The fashion industry is the Second Largest polluter in the world. Materials, processes, a changing and non-traceable value chain, added to our own consumption behavior are at the origin of a massive problem. The carbon foot print of some fashion brands has become so large that every garment you buy from them negatively affects the environment.

Textile Industry and Garment manufacturing units are responsible for 20% of the world’s water pollution. They not only affect that, these industries contribute to oceanic micro-wastes, waste filling, soil degradation, destruction of rain forests, chemical emissions and over consumption of fresh water.

The lesser the products are manufactured, the lesser the planet hurts. One of the only ways to reduce over-production is to resort to made-to-order and durable products.

Theme Board :

Eternal Intimates The theme revolves around slowliving and the Classics. There is a sense of sustainability that is brought about by slow-living.

Slow-living is a concept that involves making a complete use of our resources and preserving them. And nothing is as well preserved as the Classics.

Be it old movies from Hollywood or sculptures from Greece, the classics never lose their charm.

The theme aims to bring a similar confidence of preservation in the collection d e v e l o p e d thereby, bringing sustainability in the light of Classic Fashion.

Inspiration Board : The inspiration for this concept is drawn from Old Hollywood Glamour. After all, Nothing lasts like the Classics. The glamorous, yet simple appeal of Old Hollywood fashion is what drives the theme to have a romantic and vintage style to it.
