Overview of App The UKHab Survey App is designed to support you with the key steps in your habitat data collection workflows.

The UKHab Survey App uses the Coreo platform. The Coreo platform provides the underlying technology for the app and the means to easily manage your team and your data.

There are three elements to the system overall.

1. UKHab Survey Form. This is designed for use on smartphones and tablets in the field.

2. UKHab Pre-survey Form. This is designed to be used on laptops or desktops in the office/home. (It can also be accessed on smartphones and tablets).

3. Coreo Dashboard. This for use on laptops or desktops in the office/home.

Functions of the three elements 1. The UKHab Survey Form This form supports you in capturing UKHab features from direct observation in the field. Features can be polygons, lines or points. These surveys generate habitat records.

It also supports you in capturing Habitat Condition Assessment records for Biodiversity Metric 3. This option is available to you as an immediate continuation of the process of capturing a UKHab habitat record. These generate records compliant with Habitat Condition criteria.

Before submitting a record, you are able to review and edit its geometry and attributes. Editing is also possible in the Coreo Dashboard (see below).

2. The UKHab Pre-survey Form This supports the capture of high level UKHab features from interpretation of imagery. The resulting high level UKHab records can then inform the field survey, allowing editing of feature geometry and addition of more detailed attributes.

3. Coreo Dashboard This supports the planning and project management of UKHab habitat surveys. Users of the system can be assigned various roles. For example, an Admin level user can invite new members to the project. Roles exist to allow project members to view, edit and validate records collected in the Presurvey and UKHab Survey Forms by all surveyors in the organisation and see survey progress in map, chart and list views. Coreo users with sufficient access can also manage the import and export of records to GIS.

Data workflows You can make choices around your workflow, moving data into, within and out of the App, depending on your project’s needs and organisation’s working practices.

Workflow 1. This is the simplest model: 1. A surveyor uses the UKHab Survey Form on a mobile device in the field to capture UKHab habitat records.

2. An Admin (or similar level) user exports the records to a spreadsheet and/or GIS and applies the results for the purposes of the project.

Workflow 2. This frequently used workflow adds a pre-survey stage at the start, as recommended in UKHab mapping protocols, and a data conversion step after export, as follows: 1. You capture high-level UKHab habitat records from (satellite) imagery interpretation on desktop/laptop, using the UKHab Pre-survey Form.

2. A field surveyor uses the UKHab Survey Form on a mobile device in the field to capture UKHab habitat records. This step includes the copying and editing of pre-survey records, adding further details as required.

3. From the Coreo Dashboard you export the records as a csv and/or spatial file.

4. Exported records are converted to the UKHab data model using the Data Conversion Tool, which is provided with your subscription.

5. You edit and present the data using GIS to apply the results for the purposes of the project.

More options are available which can be used to enhance your workflows, including: 1. Import to the App of an Area of Interest (AOI) or Survey Extent boundary. This may be helpful to guide the pre-survey user and field surveyor in locating features that need to be surveyed.

2. Import to the App of a polygon or linear framework within which UKHab records can be captured; this may be helpful if the survey needs to be based on an external spatial framework.

3. Import to the App of pre-survey UKHab records captured externally in GIS. 4. Capture of Habitat Condition records in the field.

5. Conversion of exported Habitat Condition records to Condition Outcomes according to Biodiversity metric 3, using the Data Conversion Tool.

Process to obtain the UKHab Survey App Step 1. Create your Coreo account. From your desktop or laptop visit https://admin.coreo.io/signup.

This will sign you into your Coreo Dashboard. There’s not a lot to see here currently, but bookmark this for later.

Step 2. Email hello@coreo.io when you would like your 14-day free trial to start.

Step 3. Get ready by downloading the Coreo app (see Useful Links below) to your mobile device/s and sign in with the same details used above.

Step 4. Once you have had confirmation that the UKHab Survey App has been added to your account you can install it in the Coreo app. Follow our simple instructions below if you need any help with this.

Notes This is a form within the UKHab Survey App. It is intended largely for use on a mobile device via the mobile Coreo app.

This is a form within the UKHab Survey App. It is best used on desktop/laptop through the web version of the Coreo app https://coreo.app/. You can also access it on your mobile device via the mobile Coreo app.

When using the UKHab Survey Form, if a Pre-survey has been done, these records will be shown in pink on the map. Select a feature by clicking on screen, then “Copy feature”, bottom left. The pre-survey feature can then be edited and captured in the field survey records.

Always presented as an option to field surveyors when recording UKHab habitats using the UKHab Survey Form.
