We'reteaminguponceagainthisyearwithMicrolinkPC(UK)todeliverthe AssistiveTechnologyTestandLearnTrainingProgramme

ThisDfE-fundedtrainingisdesignedtoencourageeducationpractitionerstouse technologywhichtheyalreadyhaveavailabletothemtoreduceorremovebarriers tolearning.Itbuildsonasuccessful2022Pilot,whichreceivedexceptional feedbackfromparticipantsandledtoinstantbenefitstothelearnersintheir settings.

Theresponsefromthesector-withover3timesasmanyapplicationsasavailable places-demonstratesacleardesiretoreceivetraininginthisarea.Shortlistingfor thefinal150maintainedmainstreamschoolsinEngland iswellunderway,and offerswillbemadenextweek.

Successfulschoolswillgoontotakepartinamonthly60-minutetrainingsession, deliveredbetweenMarchandJuly,helpingimprovethewaytheyuseATtosupport allofthechildrenandyoungpeopletheyteach,includinglearnerswithSEND.Andif you'renotsuccessfulthistime,pleasedolookoutforourfollowupcommunications, sowecankeepyouuptodatewithfutureopportunities.

Youwillsoonbeinvitedtocompletenasen'sannualmembershipsurvey.This surveyisanopportunityforyou,ourmembers,totellusaboutyourexperienceof nasenandWholeSchoolSEND,howyoufeelaboutyourmembershipandwhere nasenshouldfocusitsattentionsinthefuture.

We'dalsoliketounderstandmoreabouttheprofessionalchallengesyouface,and betterunderstandyourmotivationsandexpectations.Thefindingswillbeusedto informandimproveoursupporttoyou,aswellascontributetoaresearchpiece culminatinginourStatusofSENDreportlaterthisyear

EachyearnationalstatisticsrelatedtoSENarereleased,whichgiveusanoutline pictureofneedinEngland.Sittingbeneaththesedataarethe realexperiencesof childrenandyoungpeopleandoftheschoolsthatworktoidentifyandmeetthose needs.

Thismonthwe'relaunchingfivenewonlineSENDCPDunits.We’rethrilledtolet youknowthatthefirsttwooftheseunitsarenowavailable!

DevelopedinpartnershipwithRealGroupTraining,andfundedbytheDepartment forEducationaspartoftheUniversalSENDServicesprogramme,thenewunits exploreLanguageandCommunication(SLCN)andSocial,Emotionaland MentalHealth(SEMH).Thefirstthreeunits,basedonSafetyandBelonging,were releasedinOctoberandwhichhavesincebeencompletedbyover1,200 practitionerswithconsistentlypositivefeedback.

Tocomplementtheunitcontent,wewillalsobehostingaseriesof liveonline networkingsessionstohelpcontextualiselearning,shareexperiencesandfurther developunderstanding.Bookingforthesewillbecomeavailableaseachunitis launched,sodokeepaneyeonthewebsiteforthelatestreleasesasweexpectthe sessionstofillquickly

Disabilities(ISEND)ResearchCluster,theActionResearchandLessonStudy projectaimstosupportschools,collegesandFEstafftodeveloptheirownbespoke small-scaleresearchprojectsthatfocusoninclusionandremovingbarriersto achievementforchildrenandyoungpeoplewithSEND.

Participantsgainsupporttoaddressachallengeorputintoplaceagoodidea relatedtoinclusionandSEND,helpingtoembedgoodpracticeanddirectlyaddress theremovalofbarriersforsomeindividuallearners.There'salsotheopportunityto shareyourresearchfindingslocallyandpublicly,andschools/collegeswhodoso areeligiblefora£300honorariumasathankyou.
