Operation Training Guide This training guide is designed to help you ensure you are across all operation aspects when using trophon®2 for the first time.

This document does not replace the trophon2 User Manual. The user should also read the trophon2 User Manual before operating the device.

Please note there are two separate training videos. One is to demonstrate how to reprocess an endocavity ultrasound probe and one to demonstrate the process for a surface probe.

Complete and pass the online trophon®2 quiz.

1.3

Check the trophon Validated Probes list at your local Nanosonics website under the Products section, Probe compatibility.

A hard copy of the list can be downloaded.

Put gloves on.

Note: Wear gloves at all times when required as described in the trophon®2 User Manual.

CLEAN

1.5 Clean the probe before the high level disinfection (HLD) cycle, following the probe manufacturer’s instructions.

Ensure the probe is clean and free of all visible debris, bioburden, gel or other soil.

Dry the probe - ensure there is no visible moisture or drops of liquid on the probe.

DISINFECT

1.6 Scan the Medical Instrument tag against the AcuTrace reader until a beep sounds.

1.7 Load the clean, dry probe into the trophon®2 disinfection chamber, ensuring: • Probe cable strain relief is placed below the cable clamp, and probe is then pulled up into place

No contact

• Probe is secured high in the chamber with tip of probe above embossed line • Probe does not contact the chamber wall at any point

Note: Some angled probes may need to use the Integrated Probe Positioner (IPP) to ensure they sit correctly within the chamber.

To use the IPP, insert the probe first, then adjust the IPP across by using your finger, until the probe is sitting straight in the chamber and not touching the sides.

Place a Chemical Indicator into the locator at the base of the chamber door, red side up.

Note: A new Chemical Indicator to be used for every cycle.

Close the chamber door and confirm whether the probe is both clean and dry.

• If yes, select “Yes” • If no, follow the trophon2 touch screen prompts

Confirm that the probe is clean and dry by scanning your Operator card.

DISINFECT

1.11

Press ‘Start disinfection’ on touch screen to begin disinfection cycle.

1.12

At the end of the seven minute HLD cycle the blue status bar at the top of trophon2’s touch screen states: Disinfection Finished. Remove probe and Chemical Indicator.

Put on a new set of gloves before opening the chamber door and removing the probe.

1.14

Wipe the probe with a drying wipe before storing the probe safely in a clean ultrasound probe cover (to prevent recontamination).

Check the Chemical Indicator pass status using the color assessment chart on the Chemical Indicator box.

Note: BOTH the CI and trophon2 touch screen must indicate a successful cycle for the probe to be ready for use. If either the CI or trophon2 touch screen indicates a fail, repeat the cycle.

Select Chemical Indicator result onscreen and then scan your operator card to confirm.

Your disinfection cycle is now complete and the result is shown on the screen.

As you step through the ultrasound probe reprocessing workflow, the built-in AcuTrace reader captures and stores the digital data – to simplify the creation of accurate, audit-ready digital disinfection records.

If you have the trophon printer installed it will print out information on the disinfection cycle (up to 4 labels per cycle). Record your high level disinfection cycle in your logbook by adding a printed label. A printed label can also be placed on the clean ultrasound probe cover or in the patient’s medical record for traceability.

1.20 trophon2 stores over 100,000 disinfection records which can be downloaded at any time onto a USB.

Integrate

1.21 If the optional AcuTrace PLUS software is activated, your trophon2 can be integrated with the hospital IT system. Allowing all disinfection cycles to be stored, accessed and easily linked to linked to a patients Electronic Medical Record.

WHAT PROCEDURE WILL YOUR PROBE BE USED FOR?

Notes: Wait time To minimize wait time between cycles, remove probe when cycle finishes. If the probe remains in the chamber, trophon2 will automatically enter probe protection mode and the chamber will reduce in temperature gradually to ensure the probe is protected.

Sleep mode Optional sleep mode - if this is enabled, trophon2 will enter sleep mode (low power) after a non-use time set by user (1-24 hours). Default is 2 hours of inactivity.

Purging Purging the trophon2 of disinfectant is required if the device is to be moved or if NanoNebulant®/Sonex-HL® has expired. This involves removal of all disinfectant from the system. Purging may be implemented manually via trophon2 screen, in the Maintenance menu (if relocating or transporting trophon) or it may be prompted automatically (if NanoNebulant/Sonex-HL cartridge has expired).

Waste drawer Empty the waste drawer when prompted by the trophon2 screen. Wear gloves when handling the waste drawer.
