Forcing flowers to bloom
The trauma of women who were born in patriarchal society—violated, oppressed, and blamed for being the victims. Women have often been judged even in the topic of the rights to wear what they want.
Regarding this issue, I would like to convey the victims’ traumatized feelings they gave during the interviews. I want people to realize the damage inside the victims’ heart instead of blaming them and judging what is right or wrong for them.
This collection is a work of symbolic interpretation. The flowers symbolize women. However, the material used is hard and thick opposing traditional fragile-looking women. The flowers are made with pieces of second handed clothes that are similar to what the victims wore. Then, all pieces are woven together with mat weaving techniques, developing silhouette to resemble vagina. This expresses the rights to their own body. The freedom to choose what they want to wear is of everyone. The colors from the painting are used to demonstrate the victims.
