Our Mission Battle Ground Academy is a college preparatory school dedicated to developing the intellectual, moral, creative and physical aspects of each student and to assisting students in the realization of their potential for personal fulfillment and service to others.

BGA was like a family to me. Every teacher provided support and encouragement to shoot for the stars. My football coach pushed me to be more than just another football player, and my musical director supported me daily to create my own path for the future. The student community at BGA gives everyone the chance to get involved, be active participants and create leadership opportunities in clubs, sports or the arts. Being involved in so many aspects of my school confirms for me, even now, that I will be linked to BGA forever. — Sam Wade BGA Class of 2012 Auburn University Student

Instilling Character History and Traditions BGA’s mission is woven into the fabric of the School, and we have been instilling a sense of character in students since 1889. From the Honor Code that every student signs to the annual tug-of-war between the School’s Greer and Plato societies, BGA distinguishes itself through timehonored traditions. Body, Mind and Spirit BGA believes in an education that goes far beyond the academic experience. Students’ morals, ethics and character development are fostered by a sense of community.

Expectations for Life Everyday BGA students are challenged not to only meet high expectations but to exceed them. Caring faculty, staff and coaches regularly go above and beyond to help students reach their potential whether it’s in the classroom, on the stage or on the playing field.

As the proud mother of three BGA graduates and a teacher here for more than a decade, I’ve seen the school’s motto – Character. Scholarship. Excellence – come to life over and over. Yes, there are rules and boundaries...but also limitless opportunities. The drive to do your best and give your all is instilled in every student and, as a parent, teacher and member of this special community, I am proud to be part of BGA. — Abby Kropp Mother of Sarah 2005, Peter 2008, and Catherine 2010 Middle School French Teacher since 2000

Encouraging Scholarship Daily Engagement Participation at BGA is not an’s an expectation. All BGA students are engaged in classroom discussions, participate in extracurricular school activities, and serve the overall community to develop and hone the skills they need to be successful in college and in life. Outstanding Faculty While advanced degrees and excellent academic credentials are important, it is the commitment to going the extra mile, from providing extra assistance to students before or after school to driving the debate team across the state, that defines members of the BGA faculty. And, because of the personal attention from BGA’s exceptional faculty, students regularly place high in National Merit Scholarship programs, Advance Placement testing and standardized SAT/ACT testing.

College Preparation All BGA students, not just those at the top of the class, enter college ahead of their peers because of the school’s integrated academic program that literally begins in kindergarten. With a one-to-one college counseling program in place, BGA consistently has over 90% admitted to their first choice of college.

Being a part of five generations attending BGA, I can honestly say this school is one of the best things in my life. BGA has given so much to me in terms of molding me into the person I am today that I can never give enough back. I don’t know where I’d be without BGA and it’s a pleasure to continue to serve the school. — Bill Armistead BGA Class of 1969 Board of Trust Member

Inspiring Excellence Legacy of Leadership BGA students are linked in a life-long bond with an elite group of alumni who are leaders in their chosen fields. With a robust alumni relations program led by the office of advancement, BGA fosters a deep connection to the school and classmates for a lifetime. On the Cutting Edge Technology is pervasive in today’s society and BGA embraces technology with school-wide use of computers in the curriculum from the Lower School to the Upper School. Through the 1:1 program, BGA faculty and students are trained to utilize technology in their day-to-day lives, preparing students for college life and careers where technology will be commonplace.

A Place to Learn and Grow From the moment your child is enrolled, BGA fosters a sense of community that envelops the students, parents, faculty and staff in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. With an open campus setting, BGA continues to invest in existing and new facilities designed to offer its students the best possible environment to grow and thrive.
