The Six Paramitas
Namchak Retreat Ranch
The six Paramitas, or Transcendent Perfections, that we’ll need on the path are Generosity, Discipline, Forbearance, Joyful E ort, Concentration, and Wisdom. In Buddhism, many concepts come in pairs, as you’ve seen. Another pair is wisdom and skillful means. The first five of the Paramitas are all facets of skillful means. Transcendent wisdom, is, well, wisdom. Here, then, is a bit more of an explanation of these qualities that will serve you well. If you’re particularly low on one, you may want to focus on boosting it. They’re worth boosting because you need them all in good measure, to succeed on this path—well, when you think about it, in life.
