Rokhaya Diallo Rokhaya Diallo wrote, “#MamoudouGassama While the nation elevates an undocumented hero, it is also pursuing harsh measures against immigration and seeking to punish those who try to provide support to migrant people” (Twitter). Rokhaya Diallo tweeted this to describe how France granted Mamoudou Gassama, the young Malian migrant who rescued a child dangling off of a balcony, French citizenship while France struggles with the rights of migrants. The ethnic prejudices in the French society sparked Rokhaya Diallo to start, “Les Indivisibles, French Without Comment, as a way use parody and humour to break prejudices, racial discrimination racism, and peacefully fight against racism in France” (Diallo Blog). Since she was tackling racism, state-sponsored racism, and supporting Muslim women who wanted to wear the hijab, she was asked to step down from the French Digital Council. Even though she was doing what was right, she was punished. Nevertheless, she didn’t let this stop here. While some referred to her as a “decolonial feminist”, Rokhaya is a peace activist who fights for the rights of immigrants and takes a stand against racism and state sponsored racism in France. Rokhaya Diallo was born and raised in Paris, France. She is the daughter of Senegalese and Gambian parents. Her parents came to France in the seventies to provide a decent life for her and her brother. “My parents came to France in the seventies to provide a decent life for their children” (Diallo, Blog). “I grew up fully aware of their sacrifice: the departure from their country was a brutal removal, distancing them from their loved ones, challenging them with carving out a spot in a new country and sometimes confronting them with disdain or hostility” (Diallo, Blog). “They had to completely rebuild their lives" (Diallo, Blog).
