A MOTHER'S LIGHT
Names carry weight. Noor, Arabic for "light", is a young child who outshines her family's silent struggles.
Noor was born to an immigrant mother. In her story, her father was left behind because of closed borders.
Then there’s Noor, smart, full of questions, untouched by her mother’s struggles yet carrying her own emptiness. Just like her mother, she witnessed her father's absence. She has the stable, safe childhood her mother never had. But sometimes, in the quiet, she still feels the space where the father should be.
Her life is about the duality of past and present, the light and the longing. It is about how heritage is passed down in glances. It is about the way Noor, free and full of joy, carries her mother’s strength in her laughter, even as she writes her own story. Yes, Noor is light, but she is also a mirror, reflecting the sacrifices that made her shine.
Turn these pages and witness not just a girl growing up, but the quiet, relentless courage it takes to build a life from fragments.
