Lodging and recreational activity are essential activities for training, often held at Kantor Pusat Pengembangan, Pemberdayaan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan (PPPPTK) Medan. Kantor Pusat Pengembangan, Pemberdayaan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan (PPPPTK) Medan has had one building as a homestead,bei time progress, the demand for this homestead increase because of the increased activity in recent years. Therefore, the expansion of the homestead and recreational space design is vital to support the training activities. This homestead and outdoor recreation centre design use the methodology to solve problems using a qualitative approach and a quantitative approach by following the data and analysis of the surrounding environment as well as the established governmental building guidelines. The implementation of tropical architecture in the design makes it able to achieve efficient use of energy and be environmentally friendly. This can be seen in the mass concept, indoor concept, outdoor concept, structural concept, circulation system, and utility system.

Also, this design blends with the local value of the surrounding environment by applying local wisdom.

----- A lodge is a collection of spaces used as a residence, office, and so on. A guesthouse is usually an accommodation building that is owned by the government and can be rented out. Outdoor Recreation Centre is a space that is intended to use as a recreational activity carried out in the open with several game simulations for individuals or groups that aim to develop cooperation between individuals and groups. Due to public use, lodges and Outdoor Recreation Centre are also tourist attractions in Medan City.

----- Indonesian architecture, which has a tropical climate, is the architecture of shade. This is due to the humid tropical conditions with two seasons and is not life-threatening, in contrast to the Eurocentric architecture that requires protection from four seasons. Roofs and columns (columns) are essential elements because they can provide the shade that humid tropical humans need but not the walls.

----- In choosing the design location, it is necessary to pay attention to the following requirements: ownership status and land use, accessibility, surrounding environment, city utility, convenience and attractiveness of the location, and view

DESIGN STATEMENT In terms of form, the design will be clustered according to the function of the building. This is due to the clustered organization’s character that is flexible in uniting forms into size, basic shape, and orientation. The clustered organization can also be joined as a secondary addition to a larger space. As a result, the clustered design that acts as a supporting function to the main PPPPTK office will be connected by a pedestrian. This will serve as a development that can be further developed without affecting the existing building’s character.

CONCEPT The design of The Development of Lodge and Outdoor Recreation Centre at the PPPPTK Office Medan is a government accommodation facility. It will be designed based on government building standards with three-star hotel facilities to meet the needs of residents according to data and surveys that have been conducted.

The tropical architectural interpretation that will be applied to the building is to minimize the heat entering the building by protecting the walls with a roof that has a large slope, the orientation of the building is facing south, designing ventilation for natural ventilation in some spaces, using a light colour scheme, creating a pool to help cool the room, and providing green open space to provide good air influence for the site area.

Mega Permata Hotel is a local business hotel located in the heart of Padangsidempuan city. Due to long history of the hotel and the good service provided, the hotel is often full. This event leads Mr. Kasim to start a new development stage, consists of: new rooms, pool, ballroom and other facilities. Focusing on the interior interior acoustics and material sustainability, the new project hope to provide an even better hotel experience.

----- Guest room acoustics pose a significant challenge for hotels -especially in a bustling transit city like Padangsidempuan- with noise regularly topping the list of complaints across all property types. Noise issues can be attributed to a variety of interior and exterior sources, including guest activity, electronics or appliances, hallway sounds, and the building’s surrounding environment.

----- Along with the development of the era, the function of the hotel is not only as a place to stay only, but also serves as a place to conduct business meetings, seminars, weddings (receptions), workshops, national deliberations and other activities.

----- Sustainable architecture is chosen as the main theme to produce an environmentally concious design. Durable and resilient materials(including fabrics, window treatments, surface materials, flooring, walls and ceilings) are chosen.

The Krearture Competition Vol III has the theme: Modular House Design with a focus on the needs of the people in Indonesia. Limited land for housing/settlement needs in Indonesia continues to increase, the result is small land becomes the choice of middle class people who will build houses.

In addition, the issue of house construction waste and time efficiency is a consideration for today's society. Modular house, became one of the architect's product solutions that have become a trend in America and are starting to develop in Indonesia.

-----Design Challenge. In this series of competitions, participants are challenged to design a living house with a new and innovative concept of modular house design. The resulting architectural product considers the comfort of the occupants of the house and applies the concept of a Prefabricated House (prefab), a house consisting of factory-made components/assemblies into modular panels.

----- Modular construction promotes recycling, creates less waste, providing clean air to breath and clean water to consume it can prevent pollutants from entering the soil, air, or groundwater. Modular building minimizes all of environmental issues by streamlining the entire preconstruction and construction process.

----- Modular House is much less costly than traditional constructions in terms of both project duration and labor. Although the widespread use of prefabricated houses is for personal reasons, it has also attracted the attention of governments thanks to its low cost and successful implementation. Both urbanization problems and housing need problems have directed the eyes to prefabricated house technology. Indonesia can be given as an example of these countries. Prefabricated houses in Indonesia potentially solves the housing problem very quickly.

03.01 | BUILDINGS ARE PRODUCED IN “MODULES” THAT WHEN PUT TOGETHER ON SITE, REFLECT THE IDENTICAL DESIGN INTENT AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE MOST SOPHISTICATED SITE-BUILT FACILITY – WITHOUT COMPROMISE.

03.02 | FRONT VIEW OF THE MODULAR HOUSE

DESIGN STATEMENT There are 3 types of modules with different spatial spatial planning. The first type consists of: 1 bedroom, living room, toilet, dining room/ kitchen, and carport. The second type: the 1st type with another bedroom added. The third type: the 2nd type with the addition of laundry room. These three types of modules can be added and lessen with the need of the person living in the modular house.

03.03 | CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS CONCEPT Using a space that has modules so that installation is efficient and costs can be controlled. The entrance is divided into 2, namely for the public (front door) and service (back door). The building is raised to resemble a house on stilts. The house can be developed upwards so that it can adapt to the owner. Prefab stairs can be built quickly. With the inner-court, every room gets sunlight and air circulation. Vegetation placed on the inner-court can help the house produce O2 for the surrounding environment. Sustainable with stair skylights that transmit sunlight, the house will not need artificial light in the morning until the evening and the concept of a stilt house provides a catchment area for the surrounding environment with the aim of helping reduce flooding. The devastating earthquake and tsunami occurred in Central Sulawesi and children are one of the most affected by the disaster, namely trauma. Trauma can occur after a person sees events that shake his soul and mentality as a result of the trauma, children may also experience problems at school and when they socialize.

One way to eliminate/reduce the trauma of the catastrophic event that they (children aged 5-11 years) have experienced is to create play facilities.

A model of ''Portable Playing Shelter‘’- named BAKA BAKA- a place to play and play active games for children, which can be quickly assembled and disassembled to become a place for activities, places to play and also socialize for children.

----- BAKA BAKA is a playground for kids formed from 4 containers stacked on top of each other with the purpose of producing a structure that is easing to intall and uninstall and can be taken anywhere at anytime.

----- The model is named BAKA BAKA due to the ‘’closed’’ fasades which shield children from the outside world and give them the feeling of freedom to play (BAKA BAKA is the game similar to hide and seek for the Sulawesian children) ----- On the panels of the container is made to be perforated (small holes) to give air circulation.

Because of the perforated panels that are used around the structure, the parent/ children’s supervisor can easily search for their children.

There are 9 games that can be played in baka baka: 1.

Slides; 2. Jumpy net, 3. Climbing rope; 4. Swing; 5.

Crawling tunnel; 6. Climbing tunnel, 7. Rubber rope; 8.

Hammock; 9. Climbing circular stair.

Each come in-out hole (red circular hole) is coated with plastic material and the flooring of each box/ block use carpet to ensure the safety of the children playing
