EARLY YEARS CAMPUS

Welcome to Nord Anglia International School and in particular, our Early Years campus in Sai Kung. Thank you for taking the time to find out a bit more about us.
We are very proud of our campus and all the amazing opportunities it gives our children every day. Visitors often comment on the warm and welcoming energy that is felt all around our school and how purposeful, engaged and happy the children are here.
When we opened our dedicated Early Years site, we had a vision of a school where each individual child would be supported and nurtured to be the best they could be. A place that harnesses children's love of learning and lays the strongest foundations for future success. With our wonderful team of Early Years specialists, we have created

a school with an inspiring environment, teachers that understand and know every child and how to move their learning forward and where we see them making amazing progress.
It has been a wonderful journey bringing this vision to life and we are very proud of our Early Years campus which is filled with energy, excitement and the most incredible children!
We hope you find this prospectus useful and that you can visit us in person very soon.

Play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.

Our outstanding Early Years Programme covers Nursery and Reception and is taught in nurturing and inspiring purpose-built learning spaces. Our dedicated and highly qualified UK trained teachers support every aspect of your child's learning. We want to inspire them to become purposeful, confident and lifelong learners.
We make sure to know every child as an individual, to make them feel happy and relaxed in our school because we know that this is how
Our campus is carefully designed to ensure learning and enquiry happen for every child across all areas of our curriculum.
We follow the 7 areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework: Communication & Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the world, Expressive Arts & Design.
We give children opportunities to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves and to speak and listen in a range of situations.
We provide opportunities for young children to be active and interactive; and to develop their co-ordination, control, fine motor and movement. Children also learn to understand the importance of physical activity and to make healthy choices in relation to food.
We help children to develop a positive sense of themselves, and others; to form positive relationships and develop respect for others; to develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings; to understand appropriate behaviour in groups; and to have confidence in their own abilities.
We encourage children to link sounds and letters and to begin to read and write. Children are given access to a wide range of reading materials (books, poems, and other written materials) to ignite their interest. We bring literacy into all areas of play for our children.
We provide children with opportunities to develop and improve their skills in counting, understanding and using numbers, calculating simple addition and subtraction problems; and to describe shapes, spaces, and measures. Through teaching and play, our children build a solid foundation in maths and understanding numbers.
We guide children to make sense of their physical world and their community, through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.
We enable children to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials, as well as providing opportunities and encouragement for sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings. We do this through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role-play, design and technology.
Assessments are made continually throughout your child's education to ensure they are progressing at expected levels and are suitably challenged. E-portfolios are kept by each teacher to evaluate your child's learning. Work samples are collected, which help document each child's progress on their learning journey and celebrate new achievements. These are shared throughout the year with parents.
As children who attend NAIS are living in HK, we feel it is very important that they learn about the customs and language of their host city. Children in the Foundation Stage take part in the Chinese language programme, which is taught by native-speaking Chinese teachers. In Nursery, Reception and Year 1, children will have a daily Chinese class.
Cultural awareness is promoted throughout the year through songs, rhymes, class celebrations and festivals. Time is given for expression through Art, Music, Dance and Drama, often integrated with singing sessions and school assemblies.
Our highly trained Early Years teachers know when to step in and guide learning and when to step back and let children explore independently. Their talent is knowing how to take a child's natural curiosity and make real learning happen every day. Through play-based experiences, children learn and develop holistically with the support, guidance, care and dedication of our Early Years specialists.

Ensuring that children are treated as individuals is at the heart of all we do. Each unique child comes to school with their own strengths, needs, interests and experiences. Our skilled teachers draw these aspects together to ensure a personalised learning journey for each child, ensuring that each child develops the skills they need as well as a deep and lasting love of learning.
